It's called, being bought and paid for, as in, this government. Sharon called it right when he said "We own America". Maybe a few Americans should open their eyes to who's running who and stop this ridiculous pact with Israel. Every politician in this country knows that to turn away from Israel means they won't get their usual "bribe" money, and that terrifies them. These Jews are determined to take the world thru money and graft. Bully those they can and kill those who oppose. Without USA support, weapons and money, Israel wouldn't stand a chance in this region. Without AIPAC, our politicians wouldn't get re-elected to serve Israel's wants, hell, we might get our country back if we booted AIPAC. No chance, money rules-we all lose

Aug. 6, 2006, 5:42 p.m.Twenty-seven days ago there was NO FIGHTING along the Lebanese-Israeli border. Then a raid of Lebanese residents captured two Israeli soldiers and killed eight others, and rockets fired from Lebanon began to strike Israeli communities.
The compilers of this site seem consumed with numbers and ratios. It is as if they feel that "x-number" of Israeli deaths "justifies" only a certain of number of Lebanese deaths in response. That is absurd and is demeaning to the notion that ALL human life has infinite value. Yet the Lebanese REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY CEASE-FIRE WHICH WOULD DISARM THOSE WHO VIOLATED THE PEACE. They seem to think that "fairness" would acept a situation in which Hezbollah could attack Israel wih impunity.
I have written extensively in the past of the need for a Midle East solution which would be fair to the Palestinians, and for a more even-handed US foreign policy. But neither of those requires that we endorse the activities of murderers.

actually, it's israel who refuses to participate in a cease fire, not Lebanon.
The 2 soldiers that were captured want to be used for a prisnoer exchange, for 10,000 civilians that israel has had imprisoned for that past 20ish years.
it's about time someone showed these statistics, too few americans know any of this stuff.

You are evidently poorly informed. The Lebanese Prime Minister has repeatedly refused to participate in proposed cease-fire arrangements that would include disarming Hezbollah.
I think that you should also rethink your use of the Identification of those held by Israel as "civilians." I do not identify young men who participated in armed attacks on Israeli settlements as "civilians," nor do I proclaim that the older men who sent them are innocent.
Frankly, I do not see that peace can be achieved without creation of a Palestinian Homeland, something these people have been lacking since 1948. Now three generations have grown up in refugee camps in an atmosphere of hatred and with a lust for revenge. This is at the root of both the violence and of the dishonesty and intransigence which drives it. It is a conundrum. A Palestinian State is essential for a lasting peace, but an armed Palestinian state would virtually guarantee perpetual war.

Aug. 6, 2006, 6:16 p.m.israel has stated that it will not stop firing until it's 2 soldiers are gained, and you obviously don't have much history on palestine or lebanon do you. israel has gone into those states (palestine for more specification) and taken civilians, they've stolen their land and homes, taken their food and money, abused them, kicked them out of their homes in general, i'm not saying that lebanon or israel is right, i think that what they're doing is wrong, on both parts. i think that both sides should be disarmed until some sort of truce is made(which most likely will not happen, but miracle do happen), and lebanon is not wanting to disarm because israel will not, if one country is disarmed while the other is not, well, it's clear what will happen then.

Aug. 6, 2006, 6:29 p.m.To have peace in the middle east, Jesus Christ will have to return to kick the muslims out of Israel's territory, which includes the following:
1) Gaza Strip
2) Land to the Litani River, as it's Northern Border
3) 1/4 of Syria's land belongs to Israel
4) The West Bank
5) 1/2 of Jordan's land to the east of the Jordan River belongs to Israel, and
5) The Sinai Desert, which was returned to Egypt.
The muslims lose. Then we will have Peace.
The palestinians will not have a country, they will have to go back to their arab brothers lands.

Israel is a sovereign state with military forces. Lebanon is a sovereign state with military forces. No one has proposed that either of these sovereign states be disarmed. However, the Lebanese insist that Hezbollah, which is not a sovereign state, also be allowed to keep its weapons, including between ten and twelve thousand missles which it intends to use to continue inflicting casualties in Israeli cities.
I have already stated that I favor a new deal for the Palestinians, but you statement, "you obviously don't have much history on palestine or lebanon do you(?)" is more than absurd. I am a professor of history at a major university and I have lectured on the Middle East for many years. Would you like to go back to the origins of the current conflict and discuss the activities of Theodore Herzl and Vladimir Jabotinsky? You say you know little about them? Perhaps you would like to dicuss Gamel Abdel Nasser, or maybe the Six-Day war? What DO you actually know?

why should that land belong to the israel's? they did not gain it fairly and they do not belong there. muslims as you say will lose never will. they will always fight for there religion and there land unlike other's who will coward out sooner or later. not only that but the muslim religion is the fastest growing religion in the world. hundreds of people conver to Islam everyday so for them to lose would be wiping out nearly 1.6 billion people. who has that kind of fire power? and syria is not going to war with israel becasue they feel they will win they are going to war because israel has killed 25 syrian civilans the other day. and im guessing your pretty historicaly uniformed because the only reason why the arab nations not the muslims lost those wars becuase of the fact that the U.S. and britian helped them money wise as well as weapons and soldier wise. by soldier wise i mean they sent troops over. not only that but the arab nations did manage to win some of the wars.

lebanon did not reject the cease fire for no reason. they rejected it because there wasnt a clear indication that the israeli's would leave there land including that farm area which its name escapes me at the moment. hezbollah will not disarm untill the land taken from lebanon and the near 10,000 prisoners some being held captive for 20 years by israel are released which by the way is the reason why hezbollah kidnapped the 2 israeli soldiers because israel would not release these prisoners by ways of diplomacy. if these demands are met then hezbollah would have no need to be armed and would be able to disarm or become a branch of the lebanese army as well as become a group of just politicians.
by the way. Gamal Abdel Nasser, great guy.

1956, Moslems started the war; Israel won
1967, Moslems started the war, 6 Day War, God was Truly With Them, Israel Won.
1973, Moslems started the war, and again, Israel Wins Yom Kippur War with Moslems.
Finalstrike, I hope you are an historian, because, if you are not, please start reading the history of Israel from 1948.

The 1948 war was started by Israel to occupy even more lands than what was unjustly given to them by the UN.
The 1956 war as well as the 1967 wars WERE STARTED BY ISRAEL

Israel has always found fake reasons to expand and occupy more lands.
Israel is THE MOST TERRORIST STATE ON EARTH: The numbers given in statistics are under estimates.
It is not only a story about the number of persons killed: It is mainly about who and how is killed: ALL HUMAN RIGHTS ORGANIZATIONS ARE UNANIMOUS: ISRAEL DELIBERATLY TARGETS INNOCENT CIVILIANS AND MASSIVELY.

Aug. 7, 2006, 7 a.m.Ok, Anyone here notice that A) the figures in this page are PALESTINIAN deaths. Israel is at war with LEBANON and B)that the Israeli reports come from the IDF, which is a government organization, and should be acceptable, while the Palestinian reports come from a newspaper, a newspaper which I suspect was chosen because it had the highest death toll.
