Sept. 18, 2006, 12:16 p.m.What happened to the good old days when ex-presidents gave up the limelight and worked on their libraries. This is especially true of impeached and disgraced, ex-presidents.

I guess some of the ex-presidents care about the people.

Sept. 18, 2006, 12:24 p.m.Note: If you actually examine the website for the event, you will quickly discover that people of all political persuasions are in attendance. First Lady Laura Bush is a featured attendee at the event. I'd also like to remind everyone that in recent years Clinton has worked side by side with George Bush Sr. in reaching out to victims of the tsunami disaster.

Sept. 18, 2006, 12:30 p.m.Fergie - I've never understood why Bush Sr. would dirty his good name by being seen with Clinton. We have a saying on the farm - you sleep with dogs, you get fleas. Hopefully Bush Sr. has plenty of flea powder.

It appears that your hatred fror Clinton is only exceeded by my hatred for Bush W. But we have a right to feel as we do for different reasons.

Sept. 18, 2006, 12:42 p.m.Yeah Clinton is a real dog. But then again, some people can say that about Bush Jr. Clinton wasn't exactly empeached by the way... he dropped the ball when it came to terrorism (but then again, so did Bush Sr. and Bush Jr.)
So I guess your dislike of Clinton, as logical as it may seem to you, might not be so logical to others.

Sept. 18, 2006, 12:48 p.m.esm - Clinton was impeached, but the Senate failed to remove him from office.
Fergie - I don't hate Clinton. He was an embarresment and disgrace to this country. His problem is that he is lacking in any type of pride. Where Nixon resigned, before being impeached and then pretty much stayed out of the limelight. Clinton didn't even have the decency to resign and is now trying to repair his "legacy".

Sept. 18, 2006, 12:49 p.m.Its very important to understand that the 'Clinton Global Initiative' is non-partisan.

Sept. 18, 2006, 12:59 p.m.Tims right this is not a forum for partisan politics. However in the world community Clinton's legacy is just fine :) If you supprot Repucblicans and globilization then you have to value the world opinion too. Clinton is a pretty popular fell around the world, much more so then good old heh heh bush.

You have got to be kidding about Clinton and Non-partisan. How much do you want to bet me that before it is over he will take some cheap shot at Bush?

Sept. 18, 2006, 1:09 p.m.It will be interesting to see if they actual do something, or start some initiative that does something, of if it just a lot more talk!
Waiting to hear!

Sept. 18, 2006, 1:23 p.m.Farmer overalls, mommy weary...whatever your names are...you are just so hateful. Farmer you're right that Clinton did not resign, but to compare him to Nixon just goes to show how ignorant you really are...Nixon was involved in criminal activities, Clinton wandered from his wife...that is between them, if Hillary forgave him, who are you or I to question. It amazes me that you so called Conservatives worry so much about what went on in Clinton's house and can not admit that what your current lying, schiesty president is doing is far more wrong than what Clinton ever did. How about obtaining an independent counsel and spending millions and millions of dollars to investigate GW's wrongdoings? No, but blame Clinton...the real problem is that you all are so damn jealous that Clinton is a well-loved, endeared President and is far more respected around the world than your GW will ever hope to be. Just learn to accept that and you will lose all of your hatred and 'one-sidedness'.

Sept. 18, 2006, 1:23 p.m.Looking forward to the reading more about this non-partison event myself.
To the Haters, you might use your energy to do something Good instead of hating. You might just help someone with all that energy or even help yourself with positive thinking. There's nothing wrong with disagreeing but Hating only hurts yourself.
Peace To All

Sept. 18, 2006, 1:25 p.m.farmerman,
I don't think clinton has ever taken a cheap shot at Bush. This article is not about your feelings about the man, it is about philanthropy. You might not like him, but he is trying to better this planet. You may not like the way that he is trying to do this, but others dont like the way that President Bush is trying to do this. Please don't turn this forum into yet another partisan argument over the war.

Sept. 18, 2006, 1:26 p.m.Oh and don't worry about his taking a cheap shot at Bush...Clinton has way more class than that...
All of you just seem to be walking around is some sort of hazy, fog or somethings...it really truly amazes me.

Sept. 18, 2006, 1:29 p.m.JustAGirl:
Actually, Nixon tried to protect those who worked for him. Which he should not have done.
However, Clinton lied under oath about something that he, himself had done, not once by on a couple of occasions, in a couple of court rooms!
It was in two separate court cases over two separate females that he had "sexual relations with".
Interesting that you forgot that he was only trying to protect himself, not those who work for him!
Yes, at least Nixon had the grace to resign and let the country recover.
Come to think of it, maybe Gore would have been re-elected in 2000, if Clinton had resigned.
So it was not Florida, but Clinton that caused Gore the 2000 election!
WOW!

1-2-Oscar
Sept. 18, 2006, 1:33 p.m.The meeting is a good idea, but may not address enough specific issues to be fruitful. It is attracting some political heavyweights from around the world, but it is doubtful that they will produce any concrete results or binding agreements. But they can lay the groundwork.
The best that can come of it is that they will agree to keep talking, and perhaps identify issues on which they can agree to cooperate--i. e., AIDS, cancer reseach, hunger, malaria, mistreatment of women, etc. Then bilateral committees or small working groups can be funded to attack these. Most of the funding, of course, will come from the Western nations, but the cooperation can come from anywhere and be welcomed.

What crimes was Nixon convicted of? On the other hand your boy Willy was convicted of lying to a Federal Grand Jury and he was disbarred in his home state. What a legacy!!!
I don't really care if the French, Germans, Communist Chinese, Russians like Bush or not. What I do expect is that he protects this country, which he has done flawlessly for 5 years now. Old Willy was too busy chasing justgirls to give a damn about this Country.

Sept. 18, 2006, 1:34 p.m.Bill Clinton the Ex President of the United States is an Immoral, Deceptive, Liar. This is a FACT, when he lied on National TV to the American Public. He lost his Law license in his home state of Ark.. This is a proven Fact, and if there is any doubt, just ask Jennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Monica Lewinski, and a host of other women he had problems with. His wife Hillary fits in the same mold. I know a lot of You will say Bill Clinton was pretty much the same as John Kennedy, but the press didn't report his escapades. It still doesn't make it Morally Right! Bill and Hillary are a disgrace in their personal lives as well as their political lives.
Whether you like to believe it or not, Bill Clinton is just keeping his name in the spotlight with all these noble causes because he is actually campaigning for a future in the White House. If Hillary was ever elected, Bill will be the President all over again, don't underestimate this Liar,
Bill always has a hidden Agenda.
Sincerely,
-

Sept. 18, 2006, 1:34 p.m.I just can't fathom how people think lying about an affair is comparable to breaking in somewhere and secretly taping your political rivals. These are two very different things.
