Lurch
Oct. 31, 2006, 5:32 p.m.Vice President Cheney, appearing on Meet the Press, claims it has "been pretty well confirmed that [Mohammed Atta] did go to Prague and he did meet with a senior official of the Iraqi intelligence service in Czechoslovakia last April, several months before the attack."He will continue to say this even after the FBI, CIA, and Czech intelligence back off the claim. The 9/11 Commission will debunk it thoroughly.
Just one example of the lies and marketing campaign that the cons have spewed to sell the war to us.

Nov. 1, 2006, 2:33 p.m.Read the documentation and weep.
Bush LIED! Congress voted for his lovely little resolution because the intellegence he allowed them to see was HIS version of it, NOT the actual intelligence.
Check the posted article from Mother Jones about the historical timeline that they put together of the lead-up to the start of the war. Here is that URL -- http://www.motherjones.com/bush_war_timeline/index.html
Also, check out this URL with a summary of the 2 Senate investigations about the pre-war intelligence --
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Senate_Report_of_Pre-war_Intelligence_on_Iraq
The 2 senate investigation conclude that the intelligence did NOT support ANY of the 'reasons' to go to war in Iraq.
You need to GET IT ...

Nov. 1, 2006, 7:06 p.m.Bush lied and so did all his cronys. Our intelligence sources were saying WMD was not a worry in Iraq and that Saddam was safely contained. Bush and Cheney wanted a war so they doctored the intelligence. Cheney bullied CIA analysts until they gave him what he wanted and when that didn't work he created his own unit to manufacture the lies he wanted to then feed to the AMerican people as unbiased analysis by our intelligence community.
They lied.

Nov. 1, 2006, 7:32 p.m.DocJ,
I like that list. Good job putting it together.
You know what I think? I think that every official who lied, be it democrat or republican, be brought up on charges and impeached.
I just dont' fuggin understand how the american people can tolerate a public official who represents them and this country lieing.
Does anyone understand the ramifications of what happens when a leader lies to you? It leads to the next conclusion of, what else are they lieing about or plan on lieing about?
It seems like, that bush and his administration are guility of providing false information. This should be grounds for impeachment. But republicans like you DocJ would rather justify, defend, and ultimately divert attention back to the democratic party? Why? Why not be a real american and hold your elected officials accountable?
And this isn't just for republicans.. this is for all political parties. For example. Harry Reid was caught using campaign finance money to give away as gifts ect ect which is prohibited.
Know what I think? Reid needs to be removed from office.

Oct. 31, 2006, 11:50 p.m.Don't see anyone much posting to this one. Guess you can argue with the truth.
I am a PDQ Bach fan ... on one of the early albums, Professor Schichle (I hope I spelled that right) tells a long joke about J.S. Bach and then has a comment about truth. He says ...
"Truth is truth -- you can't have opinions about truth."

The Neocon Way:
Creating false realities that fit the power structure's preconceived agenda is completely Straussian. The bad news for us is it's also completely Orwellian. In Nineteen Eighty Four George Orwell warned us of where this would lead if we allowed it to happen - and we know it's not pretty.
As Bush has been told (and has repeated) "You Have To Keep Repeating Things To Catapult The Propaganda" In other words, if you throw enough BS, some of it is going to stick.

Nov. 1, 2006, 11:19 a.m.well if you cant refute it in any way then just keep harping on the Kerry non story.
Ya know fate is funny. One thinks one can dodge it or fake it or escape it...but it really does catch up with us.
The Cons have been playing a very dangerous game ever since Nixon left.
In an attempt to get back in power they have done every dirty trick in the book.

Nov. 1, 2006, 11:29 a.m.* it is error alone which needs the support of government. Truth can stand by itself. (Thomas Jefferson)
* "Banking establishments are more dangerous than standing armies." (Thomas Jefferson)
* "I hope we shall crush in its birth the aristocracy of our moneyed corporations which dare already to challenge our government to a trial by strength, and bid defiance to the laws of our country (ThomasJefferson) Jefferson knew the threat to legitimate democracy corporations posed. This stuff is more prophetic than Nostradamus's quatrains or the book of revelations because it doesn't broadly generalize with imagery that could be bent to mean almost anything.
* "Merchants have no country. The mere spot they stand on does not constitute so strong an attachment as that from which they draw their gains. " (Thomas Jefferson)
Multi-national corporations are machines that seek out wealth with no allegiance to anything or anyone and no remorse for the damage they do to acquire that wealth. This is the nature of corporate entities, which is to be expected. Their interests must be monitored by citizen advocates at all times because the wants and demands of a soulless greed machine will frequently be in conflict with public well being.
* "It is always better to have no ideas than false ones; to believe nothing, than to believe what is wrong."
Our democracy starting with reagan and escalating with babybush has been handed over to multinational corporations that have no alliegence to us. If you believe that is good for america vote republican!

Nov. 1, 2006, 1:18 p.m.Since everyone seems to like quotes......thought you might enjoy this from 19th century philosopher John Stuart Mill;
"War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks nothing is worth war, is much worse.
The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made or kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

Nov. 1, 2006, 1:33 p.m.Mulder..........Republicans aren't avoiding this thread my friend. It's just when we see the subject content and read the ill thought submissions posted here, we just sort of feel it's not worthy of any educated persons time to follow the thread. I mean....you're quoting people like Michael Moore and psychopaths like Howard Dean as if they were deserving of even a small amount of respect. The quickest way to lose your credibility is to display, for all to see, that which you deem to be sage and valid intellectual input.
Howard Dean and Michael Moore for God's sake.
Please!!!!!!!!!!

Nov. 1, 2006, 1:45 p.m.In other words Repugs are avoiding this thread. Thanks for sharing that with us. And more importantly thank you for focusing on the story (not). Your myopic view is quite evident, michael moore and dean are not the topic of this thread. Typical Repug ploy, lets not talk about facts when we can instead assasinate someone's character based on inneundo.
Some of you Repugs are getting quite boring and predictable. Reminds me when I had Psych 101 and I had to observe rats in a maze, (trying to duplicate some of Tolman's work). The 'rat' analogy was intentional, the biggest 'rat' being the President of the USA.
So, would you like some cheese with that "whine"?
