The border fence may not be built with the change of power in the U.S. congress. Laredo Texas Mayor Raul Salinas said "it's highly unlikely" the fence will be funded. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said there are parts of the border where a fence will work, and the agency wants to be "expeditious" in building it. B

    I certainly hope that the fence will be built. It should have been done right after Reagon (foolishly) granted immunity. The lower cost that is stated appears to be the most accurate, since they took the ACTUAL cost of building miles of fence near San Diego, then adjusted them for today's dollars. The San Diego fence has worked miracles in slowing the flow of ILLEGAL immigrants across the border. But, since most people currently appear to believe that the Illegal's should be here, that they in fact have the RIGHT to break our soverign laws, and we are continuasly passing laws to provide more to them, then nothing is going to stop that flow. Unless or until they begin to take more American jobs, then perhaps someday the people here will wake up to the damage being done to our country. I hope that day is soon!
