I'm willing to bet there are farmers who might want to comment. If they can afford Internet access after all the cuts Bush has made.
How any republiCon can claim Bush supports the heartland of America after moves like this and cutting support to the VA, I don't know.

Farming efficiencies need to be improved. Community sustainable farming is growing. (that's where a consumer contracts with & pays [up front] a regional grower to supply their vegetable & livestock needs)
This may not be a complete answer, but the Govt. farm subsidies have taken a life of their own & are a significant part of large, inefficient Govt.
Allow the (farmers) market place do what it does so well; create an efficient system.
