Let's stop beating around this Bush »
Posted By populist 1 year, 7 months ago in NewsIf Americans want change, and they really mean it, they must force it at the local and state level, and forget about the people they've sent to the Capitol in D.C. It's the small towns and big cities that need to make declarations rebuking America's foreign policy and its byproduct: war, war and more war...

The word intended is "despot." Among other things, it refers to someone in absolute or highest authority who abuses his/her powers.

What we need to do is lower taxes on business so we have more business.
Cities that eat wealth instead of encouraging its creation are not viable.
No amount of government any where will make it otherwise.
Might I add that Bush has lowered taxes, business is booming, and government revenue every year since has exceeded expectations and we are two years closer to a balanced budget than Bush predicted.
Lowering taxes works.

I think voting the DEMS in will make a change, this to me sounds like a defeated republican double backing. I am about to lose so I will distract the people. Less greed and more giving back to the people is what we want. Our state government are the no different, as a matter of fact they are the ones that become federal government. We the people make changes, the problem here is that we gave one party all the power, that is never a good thing what makes it worse is we did so while we have the worse kind of leaders in the white house crooks.

This country should ingage in war only as a last resort to protect and defend the property and lives of US citizens.
Our military can do two things: kill people and distroy civilizations. I am sorry to say that we need them now more than ever, but they should be used like a loaded gun sence death will follow their footsteps.
If you disagree with the current war, fine, where is your solution to the problem. With the numbers of dead increasing daily, first fix the problem than the blame. What is your solution. You still have not answered my question, under what conditions should the US wage war. I wanted your opinion not other people.
So far I have heard two plans: pullout now as fast as we can, and pullout over the next 6 to 12 months. Ok, fine, now what? Are we going to support the current government with money and material like the Marshal Plan or are we just going to bug out.

lol@ this.... Stop the war by destroying our economy. Yeah thats REALLLLLL bright.
Liberal's need to just sit back, shut up, and stick to supporting groups like the ACLU who will be wiped out sooner or later.

lol well people who want a country to have things like schools, roads, military, ect.... rely on tax's to make sure we keep them. Whats your idea? Allow companies to do that? What about the military? How would you pay for that? We need tax's. Regardless of what ever you may think. We do. It pays the bills. Some times on dumb crap. Which would make it more logical to want some thing like better monitoring of spending. Not no tax's.

Destroying our economy? Really? By keeping more money in our own hands to spread far and wide through all areas of our economy? Instead of giving it all to oil companies already posting record profits?
So, spending our money locally instead of giving it to some CEO, that's going to ruin our economy. Our economy, the right winger says, will be destroyed by ADDING MONEY TO IT instead of giving it away for free and never seeing it again. Awesome logic, right winger! Speaking of sitting back and shutting up, would you PLEASE already?
You can't wipe out the ACLU without wiping out the desire to protect civil liberties. Good luck there.

I meant to reply to this....
"I say we boycott paying our Federal and State taxes. I also say we not purchase anything for the next two or three months. Hurt the retail chains and watch them scream."
Yes, doing that, hurting companies would destroy our economy. And how it even sounds logical to do so proves some people should just shut up and let people with functional brains handle things.
As far as spending money locally and avoiding spending money at big places, umm yeah bud that will make fortune 500 companies fall... which means our stock market falls... which would eventually lead us in to a depression. The stock market is at a all time high, and regardless of what you may hear, things are cheaper then ever before. Take a look at other countries news, such as people who ship us things. Look at the differences between how much we pay and places like the UK. The fact their money is worth more should make things cheaper. It don't. Look it up. This idea is dumb.

Amen to that brother.
The ACLU is quite possibly the worst thing to happen for civil liberties. The idea was great, but the action that has insued since it's inception has this country hurt more so than ever before.
I'ld debate with facts, but my mind has gone blank. I do aplogize for that. And just because I can't back it with facts atm doesn't mean that they are right.

Right-wingers have proven to be incompetent and incapable of functioning in a democracy. It was people like yourself who refused to ask the hard questions that got us where we are. You fully supported Bush through every lie and still find no end of excuses for the pathetic rule of the right-wing. Hopefully, Americans will realize that the conservatives have only lies and empty rhetoric to offer and place them in the minority until rational conservatives take back the GOP.
That you don't understand the ACLU indicates just how stupid about our government you truly are.

"Right-wingers have proven to be incompetent and incapable of functioning in a democracy"
Classifying a group of people and calling them incapable in a democracy is just showing idiocy.
"It was people like yourself who refused to ask the hard questions that got us where we are."
If you're referring to Iraq, Liberals supported the war also. So, both sides didn't ask the hard questions, if you get specific.
"Hopefully, Americans will realize that the conservatives have only lies and empty rhetoric to offer"
All any politician has to offer is lies. Neither side is any better.
In conclusion, you have shown yourself to simply follow what your party says. Insult Conservatives, call them pathetic, and blame Bush for everything. You have a mind, so start using it. Stop being a zombie.

Not that you'd think the right thinks so. The right-wing is continually talking about democratically taking power which is what our system is designed to obviate. They also want to install judges that would follow the will of the people, not legislate from the bench, which is not what the judiciary's job is. The judiciary was designed to be activist by stiking down unconstitutional legislation.
So, even if we were a majoritarian democracy, the right-wing would not be able to function in it because they are authoritarian and would ultimately create a authoritarian state in which the tyranny of the majority rules.

lol you use the term right winger like you have no vocabulary. NOT every one who disagrees with you is a right winger.... Just like not every person who disagrees with me is a liberal or democrat or independent or socialist ect.... You should really stop categorizing people like its really that easy. Just because some one don't agree Iraq is bad, or thinks Bush lies all the time doesn't make them a right winger. They COULD be the open minded intelligent one and YOU could be the dumb a** talking out of your a** simply because your to indulged in hate to see any real truth to begin with, since in your opinion every "right winger" is a liar....
I could easily say the same and post video evidence for the known ACLU members, Congress, past Presidents, Democrats, Republicans ect.
Guess that means don't believe any thing any one says. We're all liars, right? Get real man. Seriously your filled with hate.

This is actually quite true. If Americans really want change then do it at the local level (but don't forget about those you do sent to washington).
Personal opinion on Bush: Wack
On the war... I don't like how he hand;ed it... I don't like how the Demacrats are handling it either. Fake resolutions? What the... the reality is (and for some reason they just won't say it... or haven't figured it out) is that if we pull out and iraq collapses, don't blame Bush, fix it. Why? We will have no choice. Al Queda will take over and so will Iran.
What is funny about all this war stuff is that no one seems to be following any sort of logic. A 6-12 month pull out won't work, staying in can work but it will be 12 years later... and if you pull out what is the plan if it doesn't work?

It is easier to whine about the politicians in Washington. They are a million miles away from you both physically and emotionally. Therefore you have absolutely no chance to interact with them or hold them accountable. After all, they are so far away, nobody would expect you to do anything about them. You can just bi*ch and moan all day about stuff.
But local governments are accessable and now people CAN interact with them, but NO, that would take effort, involvement, and committment and we will have none of that!

Good Post Jumpmaster! It takes effort and time and commitment. You may not have the lobby bux to influence your U.S. Congressman, so why not start where you can make a difference? Locally. Run for local office, wirte a local editorial in your paper, but... Take Action.
Each President has called for a "Line Item Veto." They need this to veto all the minute tacked on spending items submitted in a bill. They may pass a bill, or veto the bill in it's entirety only. This is why we can't get angry at the President for out of control spending. Our local Congressman always has an out by blaming the President. The President blames the Congress. No one takes responsibility. This must stop!

We voted for change, and guess what? The new guys are worse then the old. Murtha, the guy who wants to micro manage the war, is a senile old fool. The Speaker, and the woman who would be President some day are weak on defense. Actually, it probably depends on what day you ask them, Hillary is a flip flopper without Hanoi John's charm.

I want the Hat Party. Everyone who thinks they are qualified for what is now an elective office puts their name in a hat after they pass a basic math test, an English literacy test and provide proof that they were born here and are not convicted felons. Then every two years, we pull names from the hat. Once your name has been pulled, it can never be put in the hat again.
The Hat Party will eliminate all TV campaign ads, false promises, mudslinging and all that campaign literature smeared with untruth that they use to defile your mailbox.
The current bunch, both legislative and executive branches are not worth a plug nickel all together. They argue amongst themselves and are so busy with politics they seldom have time for the business of the people which is why they are they in the first dang place.
Impeach the whole bloody lot of 'em, I say!!!

Populist may be more dangerous than we think. These people have so much pent up anger against authority, the government and society in general, I think they have lost it. I would not be surprised if they do not already have a Tim McVey in their camps. The Greenie side of their movement already burns car dealerships, forestry equipment, rail bridges, research facilities and no telling what else. It is not much of a jump to target people. Maximum security confinement is the only thing left to slow them down. Anarchy cannot be permitted for even one second.

They lost it in 04 when America would not buy the guy who staged battles to watch later, and faked the Purple Owies. Now they are really rabid, because they thought when Democrats barely won last years election they finally had political power. They don't. Most important legislation requires a 2/3 vote in the Senate. In the House Murtha can try to micro manage the war, but then it becomes their war, and we will hang defeat around their necks, and ride it into the 08 Presidential election.

Bushes story may be (well ok, is) BS, but at least he has stuck to that story. It's one thing to lie and be consistant than to lie and be inconsistant.
The Dems and some Reps (ok, maybe all) have all lied and then changed stories or worse yet have just gone with the crowd and then back peddled (i.e. Billary). I'm not really for Bush but I'll give him kuddos on sticking with the story. Even if it is a lie.

I have just thought how far the people opposing the war will be pushed before they take action. More than half the country opposes this war so the President should listen to the people.
But he does not, not even a second thought enters his mind when sending more troops or keeping them in Iraq longer than any human can take without giving up their life in America. Congress needs to stop the war at all costs now, no more little by little because the President will not compromise so then the people should not. This President reminds me of a King.

Sorry, we have one Commander in chief, and it is not the unindicted co conspirator. That senile old fool is spitting in the wind. I cannot wait until he tries to control the war. The more the people see him in action, the better it is for the Republicans take back of the House, and Senate in 08.
