OpEd: Let Justice Prevail... »

Enough is enough! Watching the Senate recently reiterated what I already knew in my heart to be true: we have a "One Party with Two Wings" system here in America. Factoring out Senators Feingold and Sanders, along with a handful of Representatives (most notably, Ron Paul), the US Congress is a joke!

It looks like the democrats want to do things that make them look good, rather than do the hard work of ferreting out lawbreakers. Some might be worried that going after Cheney will lead to bush, and they'll have no choice but to go after him as well. They might worry that the evidence is so glaring, that impeachment for both would be impossible to stop. That would make Pelosi the President, in the middle of this war. Anything that goes wrong would then be owned by democrats. All the 'what if's' that are going on have brought this country to a standstill on this issue.

History lesson. In the 1970s, the Congress ferreted out lawbreakers in the Executive Branch. Thus, Spiro Agnew was forced out of office as Vice President. On August 8, 1974, President Nixon resigned the presidency. Congress with its ability to threaten impeachment and a trial brought too much light on Nixon's shadowy world.
Will GW and Cheney want too much more light cast on their creepy and dark underworld? I would argue for the good of the country that Cheney resign.

I'm sure many of us would like Cheney to resign for the good of the country. Unfortunately, Bush, Cheney and the others have the backing of a MUCH better public relations (read "propaganda") machine than Nixon had. If much light was cast on their "creepy and dark underworld" (nice turn of a phrase, by the way), their lackeys in the media know how to distract, spin and confuse the public. I'm sure you've noticed how many out here don't accept the facts when directly presented to them. They only believe who they want to. But I'm a pessimist.

david, back in that time what those people did was a big deal. It isn't a big deal any more for people to drop like flies for wrong doing. 2004 showed us that when Democrats barely got Congress. Back then, it would have been an avalanche outing the CONS. Back in that time, Congress wouldn't think twice about continuing an investigation. Those days are gone. No one is 'aghast', no one is surprised, & there are people out there who haven't the integrity to see why others are upset. What's the big deal, they think. We've changed our national consciousness. Now people spin, make excuses, and sometimes lie to excuse all of this. Our world has changed.

Jordan11: the democrats want to do things that make them look good, rather than do the hard work..."
Are you just figuring that out?>>>>>>>
Silly comment. The democrats have been in power for two months. Had they been in power for 12 years, like the CONS....then you'd make sense.

We have to be registered with a party to vote in the primary so i won't change my registration.
Don't these people realize that the reason democrats were elected last Nov, America was making a statement!!?? Apparently they don't take our statements very seriously, what is the next option for caring Americans?

personally, i don't yes find anyone worthwhile to vote for in the primary, but time will tell for sure. whatever the case may be, it's clear that they've created a system where we're reduced to a choice between two kinds of war parties - not much difference in my mind - when looking at the end result, that is.

I am exhausted thinking about the situation we find our nation in. By whatever means it takes, lovers of freedom, both Dems and Repubs, must somehow reclaim our country, populist. Either by political action or armed revolution. Think Walter Reed, Haliburton, Enron, WorldCom, Generals Clark, Shinsecki, VA funding! Simply saying that it will all be over in two years is is to wallow in denial. The base problem remains ... we have absolutely lost influence of the Congress and Senate. I am sick to my heart. If Iraq is worth losing American lives to somehow force democracy on that country giving American lives to save America is certainly worth consideration.

I would suggest that people vote in the primaries and stick with the Democrats at the national level for now. Let's see how they attempt to make changes. I am not in favor of some wishy washy non-binding resolution. However, political reality is quite clear when we realize that GW can veto as quickly as he can pass bills. The ultimate ideal here is to bring our troops home without more getting killed. We can only achieve that goal by pushing Democrats toward that end. However, in 2008, if you really want to spoil the election, then vote for the party of your conscience in the general election. It pulled several votes in key areas in 2000 when Nader and Buchanan "robbed" votes from Gore.

no matter WHO we vote for, we're telling them that we approve of their policies. So if we have another war-hawk that's just less of a war-maker than the other - we'll just have more war...
I feel that instead of voting "against" the other party (whatever that may be) we need to start voting FOR what our moral beliefs dictate.

Sort of like how Ross Perot took votes away from Bush 1 and gave the election to Clintoon.....btw....the best way to get the most troops home safely is for insane Dermocraps to stop spewing crap about setting dates....that only encourages the enemy to fight harder.....let them do what the plan is and get Iraq as secure as possible without DemLibs here fighting them too....then they can withdraw and come home safely....

How about this thought...set dates, but do not publicly announce them. We have a way of telling everything to the press, even if it might bring harm. So, I say put a lid on the homecoming, and bring them home. The "so-called" terrorists are going to keep shooting whether we are the targets or someone else is. If they are so dedicated to shooting just to kill, then they would not care at whom they fire. Abandoning the target range is probably a wise idea.

Pelosi said impeachment is out.
I am sorry to have to say to those that want impeachment that it would be a waste of time money and resources. If there is no conviction in the senate than the impeachment is meaningless. There will be no impeachmet becuase you won't get a third of the republicans (along with all the democrates)to vote that way.
Ultimately, we will not have a real investigation into the facts leading up to the war until there is a change of administration.
The way things are now the democrates barely control the purse strings and cannot push to hard or any advances they make will be killed by their collegues or by Bush.
There will be no change of policy until January 29th 2009. I don't like it but those are the facts that we have to face and deal with!

Look at our reputation as a country around the world. It's pathetic what the Clinton regime has done. It's criminal. BTW...Clinton is already a convicted war criminal.....and now it comes to light by the ICC that Clinton massiveley bombed an innocent country when he bombed Serbia....

Tell that to the people buried in the mass graves at Srebinicza. Tell that to the people whose lives he saved when our soldiers helped defeat a ruthless dictator who had a strangle hold over a crumbling former nation on the verge of anarchy. Rather than slamming Clinton, take a hint, King: none of us care for your rewrite on history.

First you decide what you stand for, then you vote for the candidate that most agrees with those values. It is not rocket science, and you don't have to agonize over it.

I know what I stand for aniokly. I stand for impeachment of this administration. I have taken the time and trouble to contact every single member of Congress. All 535. My message to them was that they need to uphold their oath of office. The one where they swore to protect and defend our Constitution from both foreign and domestic threat. The current administration is clearly a threat to the Constitution. If they do not do their duty, if they do not fulfill their legal obligation to ensure that this is government OF, BY and FOR the PEOPLE, they need to be reminded of what Thomas Jefferson said.
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants."
Although we may not have the power to impeach Congress, we should make sufficient noise that they may hear our words and pay attention to the PEOPLE instead of their campaign coffers.

We all know what you stand for...DemLib insanity and spewing a continuous flow of leftwing red herrings...and although you don't realize it, and will deny it, DemLibs ARE the enemy within, the domestic threat in the Constitution... we need to save America from the Liberal Assault on Our Schools, Faith, Language, Boreders, Culture and Military ...liberalism is either treason or insa
