From the article:
"The committees can easily obtain the facts they want without a confrontation by simply accepting our offer for documents and interviews,"White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said Wednesday. "But it's clear that Sen. Leahy and Rep. Conyers are more interested in drama than facts))
Why don't i believe that? What about this statement makes me feel like they want the committees to request 'doctored' documents or will receive well rehearsed statements?

If you ever get arrested you might run that arguement (simply accept my word for it your honor we don't need an oath or anything) by the judge and see how well it flies.

The investigation by majority Democrats is fueled by their contention that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has, in effect, allowed the White House to make major political decisions for the traditionally independent Justice Department. The firings of eight federal prosecutors over the winter, Democrats say, was an example of improper political influence.
"traditionally independent Justice Department"
Traditional? Since when has the Justice Department, under the President been independent of politics?
It must have been before President Washington
Recess appointment of a Judge, it doesn't get any more political than that.
President George Washington appointed South Carolina judge John Rutledge as Chief Justice of the United States during a congressional recess in 1795.
On August 11, 1902, President Theodore Roosevelt named Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. to the United States Supreme Court through a recess appointment.

The sheer arrogance of Perino and Tony Snow reinvigorates a deep loathing of what this White House is. Only an indoctrinaire of Fox News/fat druggie/Hannity would accept this idiocy. What doesn't the White House not understand about the subpoena power of Congress? The Democrats were voted into control of Congress by the people. Congress has spoken.
Just keep digging your hole deeper right wingers. November 2008 is coming and it will not be pleasant for you. Sweet justice for the people!

Humm, If there was a bunch of circumstantial evidence that I had robbed the bank down the street, do ya think the cops would agree to an off the record, no transcripts, no recordings informal chat with me. Hell NO! They would show up with a warrant in hand and grill me till they got to the truth.
Mr. Bush, you as President are not ABOVE the law, you are responsible for seeing that it is enforced.

Many incoming presidents have replaced ALL of them. NO president has ever before replaced selected ones mid-term. They are actually appointed for 4 year terms - so it's REASONABLE that all might be replaced by an incoming administration. Since it has never been done before, and the replacements were selective and clearly NOT done for "performance" issues, it is highly suspect. It is DESERVING of an investigation. In fact, there MAY have been a crime here. If the dumbasses has just said, "we fired them because they have ugly wives" or something it probably would have passed unnoticed. Claiming "performance" issues when it was CLEAR that none existed (at least in most cases) was a very suspicious thing to do. It leads one to believe that the "performance" in question may have been the refusal of those persons to "perform" a perversion of the law for the specific benefit of one person or party.

One more time for the slow ones:
When are you people going to get it? Bill Clinton fired 93 U.S. Attorneys upon assuming office...so did Ronald Reagan when he assumed office. George H. W. Bush replaced nearly all of Reagan's. They ALL do this. The difference is that these are the first who have NOT had to go through confirmation in the Senate, due to an obscure provision (which has since been removed) in the USA PATRIOT Act. The result here in Arkansas was the replacement of an outstanding Republican prosecutor with a Rovian hack. All of these prosecutors were replaced in an effort to game the elections and usurp our civil rights. ...and BTW, all of the fired prosecutors were Republicans appointed in Bush's first term when HE initially replaced Clinton's attorneys! And THAT is the truth!

Even more egregious than the firing of the US attorneys is the midnight ride to the hospital. That alone should be enough to get Gonzales gone and it points straight to the White House.
The whole gang needs to be gone.

Everything is so slow at getting going, that we will have another prez in office before it all comes out.
This is just what the current admin is counting on, because by then alot of people will be saying,"what's the point, they're out now?"

The whole point of the investigation is to find out if a law was broken. Then if they find something they charge and sentence. Something is being hidden if they are expecting special treatment, and if no law was broken WHY WOULD THEY WANT THE SPECIAL TREATMENT?
