Though legal, Bush's commutation of Libby's sentence smacks of quid pro quo and cover-up. With this heinous act, Bush has, as Olberman puts it, stabbed us in the back and turned the Constitution on its head.

"Is it too much to ask that they get to the busness (sic) of the country, rather than trying to tear it apart for polical (sic) gain?"
No it isn't. And that is all the U.S. has been asking of the Bush administration for about 6 years now.

Understand the Rodent and his kind. They don't come here to discuss issues. They come here to pick a fight and show their arse. If you think about it, it makes sense that this sort of personality would religiously adhere to Bush, in full blown defiance of common sense. He clearly still believes Bush is a conservative, even though that clearly is not true.
And now, the Bushies (distinct from Republicans or conservatives) are starting to feel a bit defensive, they think we're ganging up on them. I am very familiar with being in the minority, so I can empathize with them. It is a good feeling to be in the majority for a change. They've had more than their share of that ; )

Ah yes polls again, so when 86% of Americans think the new Dem congress is screwing the pooch, should they resign, change direction or continue on as if the 86% don't matter? (Hint: they ignored the 86%, so much for following polls)
Latest Gallup Poll Found American Confidence In Congress At An "All-Time Low" Of 14% (Confidence In Congress At All Time Low," USA Today's "Gallup Guru" Blog, 6/20/07)
Public Approval Of Congress Is At "Its Lowest Level In More Than A Decade."
(Los Angeles Times, 6/12/07)
"Pelosi's Approval Rating In California Since March Has Plunged"
(Contra Costa Times, 7/2/07)
"Confidence" in Congress is at all time low 14% not because of Bush"

BTW, where do you get this 80% you cite? Reference please.

In spite of all the attempts by the right to discredit the Congress, 57% of people still want Democrats in charge of Congress, and 31% prefer Republicans.
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2007/06/29...
By the way, that poll was taken less than a week ago.
Just goes to show you that the Republicans are not a preferred choice to Democratic control of Congress...but nice try.

Statements like "defended the Third Reich" are hardly productive.
But libs, I'm not a part of any "gang of libs," nor do I have ANY desire to be ( I rarely post here), but it's clear the so-called "Mouse/Rodent" has no real cogent defense of the White House.(Why did we go into Iraq, again?)
Furthermore, this is only poignant in the face of - as Olberman put it (pretty close to the mark) - "a rabid and irrespnsible corner of" (I would say) the private sector. Our Commander-in_chief's Texas-brand of stubborness, and sh*!-eatin' grin "You can't git me, I'M the President!" attitude has served the corporate interests behind the War well.
The evidence is all AROUND us that the Iraq War was a HEINOUS scheme, and for that alone Bush should resign. It's almost comical that Bush's pardon of Libby was given BEFORE the appeals process was finished! For God's sake, let's drop the egos and admit we've fallen prey to an administration run amok.

Libby wasn't pardoned, just commuted. He's still on the hook for many things but now is free to pursue his appeal- and win. Then, justice will be served, unlike in that sham trial in which he was "convicted."

All this fanfare & spewing hatred does not square with the 135 pardons, many convicted felons & drug pushers, which our former Prez slipped in on Jan 20, 2001: http://www.usdoj.gov/opa/pardonchartlst.htm
Some of our citizens are so used to infidelity & sleaze that the sexual exploits of Slick Willy doesn't bother them.
But if a man is unfaithful to his wife, can you count on him to be faithful in serving his country?
It seems to me that many are listening to worse than Hanoi Jane in this era. BTW, there were considerably more of our troops that suffered over there, but we have become more gutless.
Considered what a current 60 yr old soldier says about the war in Iraq, directly checked for validity: http://www.snopes.com/politics/soapbox/repya.asp

Whine, whine, whine. Why don't you read what the seasoned Lt. Repya said?
There is no proof of lies; wiretaps were legal & justified for security; the Supreme Court is back to upholding the law according to the Constitution, not making new laws; GW is acting in the position & authority as President, but so many political antagonists want their way, they can't restrain themselves from clawing at him, attempting to bolster their own position. Where is statesmanship among these piranhas?
And, of course, the liberal media doing all it can to keep the hate fires fanned. We are shooting ourselves in the foot, just as the Islamic militants wish.
If the Democrats had a viable plan & would attempt to bring constructive effort to a victory against terror, the enemy would fear & Congress might begin to have a better than 14% rating by the populace. -Rev. S

I can understand why you`re feeling a little picked on.
I think a lot of people make the mistake of associating a president or a party with your own self worth or pride. Same thing with their favorite sports team. Same mentality. If your team loses, it can ruin your day or week.
Look, we all get burned sooner and(!) later, it happened to a lot of us with Clinton & Monica, NAFTA for the unions, and so on. Now with Bush, it is just your turn (x10). No need to associate his words (lies) or actions (some unconstitutional) with yourself. In fact, best to try to avoid ever associating yourself with a pol. This way, you can step back and say something like, `well Bush may have been poor on implementation and even crossed the ethical/legal line a few times, but my belief in conservative principles of xxx, yyy, and zzz still stand.`

OK, let's go tit for tat: Q: Is there any corporation in the country where a CEO would NOT be fired for sexual acts with interns in his office? No. But, a direct lie "I did not have...", a cover up, and finally after the sucker came out with the facts, the suckee admitted. Anything else you want to say Bush has done that Clinton hasn't? Hmmm, let me see: How about bombing a WWII ally? Do you know your history or are you just 18 year old whiners? When the leader would not resign Clinton bombed the water and electric plants, killing civilians and causing years of suffering for the civilians. Look it up, starts with "Yugo".

Try and open your mind a little and look at the mess this country is in Worldwide rather than cling to your defense of a poor leader, albeit, democrat, republican, conservative, liberal or whatever. Such an attitude is so non-productive. There are boys dying in Iraq now, right now,but you seem to think its justifiede because Clinton had issues with "Yugo" and that makes it ok.
I don't care what happened then, there's nothing I can do about it but, if there is a chance that this war is cut short by just one day, all this back and forth would be worth it.

Try not to be so much of a hypocrite. Bush has made some terrible choices, mainly his refusal to take of the gloves in the Iraq war, and his mishandling of the border by refusing to stop the flood of illegals. If you are mad at him about the Scooter Libby pardon, you should first look at the list of people that Clinton pardoned. The list includes narco-trafficking kingpins, who paid of the Clinton family law firm for a pardon, as well as Mark Rich, who nearly bankrupted the bank of England, and stole tens of millions of dollars. It's also interesting to note that Sandy Berger, the national security advisor under Clinton, was caught, and plead guilty to stealing classified documents from the National archives, by hiding them in his underwear, and then shredding them at home. We still don't know to this day, their meaning, value or import, yet he never saw a day of jail time. Grow up you liberal whiners. When you hold your own corrupt leaders to task you'll gain some credibiltiy.

How about looking beyond the partisan and just expecting what's right of from all our leaders? Why do people constantly just look Rep and Dem? Talk about hypocrites. How about looking at this one event as the blow it is against the common people of this nation. Libby got off (and he will be pardoned before Bush leaves office) simply because he's one of the elite. Now is a time for outrage against our pathetic leaders. Not for the childish "well Clinton did it too!" The real hypocrisy here is that the law and order Republicans ignored the judge, a jury, and the whole jurisprudential system, including mandatory minimums for obstruction of justice, after the Supreme Court, with Alito and Roberts, upheld a sentence for a crime almost exactly like Libby's.
