President Bush says that he should be trusted on military issues because he listens to his commanders. But he has a tendency to celebrate his generals when they're providing him political cover - then stick a knife in their backs when they're no longer of any use to him.

Is this not similar to what was done to Westmoreland? Shades of Vietnam.

Independent thought is not a respected trait within the inner circles of this administration.

Although a little incongruous given it's Quaker roots, some these syncophant military advisers could do with a dash of the Speak Truth to Power backbone.

Bush's "I listen to my commanders on the ground" truthiness might be stitched together by the most technical of threads, but it sure is a good line. A political gem. And replacing top generals without so much as a sniff from the "liberal" media? Rove is worth every penny...

...sorry. Where was I? Oh yeah, I was just about to accuse the Dems of politicizing the war.

When are people going to question Bush's decision making? He hasn't appointed one general that met his victory in Iraq standards. He listens to his generals? And he can lie with a straight face and expects people to believe him. Oh well, 27% still do, because they don't have the collected brains of a defective monkey. Sorry if I offended any defective monkeys out there.

Yes, Eagle Eye - and the pleasure of the President seems to be "executive priviledge." We have a dictator in the white house and no one seems to care. Yeah, his truthiness says "I will make my decisions based on what the Generals on the ground tell me" and then when they tell him what he doesn't want to hear, he fires them. Time for even Luvmyprez to pick her head up out of the sand and demand some answers while lives are being lost EVERY SINGLE DAY that Bush tries to run out his presidency and hand the war over to them dems. THAT is "not supporting the troops" and is downright criminal. Bad form, W, bad form.

Why does everyone assume his presidency is going to run out... if he can successfully create a state of emergency (say, by attacking Iraq), he's already provided the means to hold on to it, or has everyone forgotten that?

I don't think Brown will follow Bush into Iran: he's not that stupid so Bush/Cheney will be on their own

I don't see what the problem is. Obviously there is not a real big problem because he has been able to produce twins. And besides it's none of our business what he does in the privacy of his own bedroom or bathroom just as it was none of our business what Clinton did. I know he does kind of walk funny though and they are there for the pleasure of the president........ oh you mean it's about how he uses his generals..... oh.....nevermind.
