Today's Democratic Party came here in the night from some other planet. Someday we can only hope that the real ones will return. You will know them by the scars on their knuckles, the steel in their eyes, the sand in their gut - by their spirit, their drive, their compassion for the poor.

The once great Democrat party was sabataged in 1961, and it is not coming back. Todays Democrats could not shine the shoes of FDR, and JFK. They are gutless wonders. One trick ponies, if you will. My Grandmother told be before I cast my first vote, "If you ever vote Republican, don't tell Papa, it will kill him!" They really believed in what the Democratic party stood for, what ever that was is long gone from todays party.

I think it happened before '61, but either way, things sure aren't how they should be with the dems...

The old-time Democrats stood for this country. I cannot imagine the Democrats of 1941, cutting the funds out from under our troops. They stood for the working man, no NAFTA, or illegal alien Amnesty for them. A pity they are gone.

Not a bad article populist. Would you give the same consideration for those of us who also feel the Republican Party has been hijacked? Hijacked by those who claim to be conservative but are so in name only. And both parties, Republican more so I believe, have those who claim to be Christians and try to benefit from that recognition but whose actions are certainly not Christ like. The truth is we are all being taken for a ride by many of today's politicians.

some excellent points. the republican party has gone through just that as well. It's the nature of the beast, isn't it? Politicians just grandstand to get attention, votes - and power, but seem to do little that actually upholds the values of those who voted them in office...

Do you believe that elections in 2008 will change anything? I am not sure.

Yep. The republican party is no longer conservative, the Dem party no longer liberal. They talk the same crap to their bases of support, but look at their actions - they are both corporatist parties.

        Two flavors of fascism.

You know, I really hates it when commenters talk bout Christian Conservatives.

first of all, we dont believe in evolution, so you commentin bout draggin our knuckels really really offends us. Cause that implys we came from apes.

      We Dint come from apes.

Christian Conservatives are like a precious idea - an idea that can be compared to a newly fertilezed egg - a gelatenous jiggly mass of un-formed matter that has potention to become something - if all goes well.

I usually don't agree with anything from this source but I have to here; the last of the true democratic was JFK. I remember his most famous line (not quite verbadem) "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you a can do for your country"

And look what happened to JFK. Who has the guts to risk all? I can't think of one.
