Seems to me it would have been a good strategy for the Dems to make Bush use the veto several times.
Then the Republicans would be harping about how even more ineffective they were after Bush's veto and their failed attempt to over ride it. They just don't have the votes, yet, but they will. And the Democrats will get my vote because the Republicans have got to go.

You can't veto when the Congress doesn't appropriate funds for the war. This war is currently being financed by the Democrats in office. You just can't handle that you've been duped.
Once again I'll reiterate what I've said before. And this is my last time: Congress cannot pass a law denying war funding because they don't have enough votes to over ride Bush's veto. Let that sink in. And hey, I can handle that, but I hate to see any more of our troops die needlessly for this unnecessary and debilitating war.
That's not true. The House can defund just about anything. Then it goes before the Senate, then the President. They have the power to strip us of everything. The Pentagon will support us with what they have, taking away from other less dangerous zones. This was done in Vietnam and could be done again.

As to the PR from the war, this nation is at war. We need positives. At times the press and spokes people get ahead. We won the war. The Iraqi army melted away, the paper tigers that they were. The folks we face today are terrorists from Iran, Syria and Alqida. You also mentioned WMD, which ones. We continue to find gas, bio and chemical shells. They're old but they are still deadly, thank goodness most detonators fail. The equipment to make them most are probably in Syria today. That's the only reason they would permit Saddam's family to stay there.

And again, if equipment was moved to Syria prior to the war the blame for that lies squarely with Rumsfeld. We can read a street sign from space so any large shipments into Syria were made under our watch.
