This is a cautious bit of good news -- the better news will be to hear that Blackwater's executives AND the appropriate personnel from the field are being prosecuted for war crimes.

I'll believe it when I see it. I can't see 5-deferment Dick sitting idly by while Condi strips him of his private army.

When are we, the people, going to get tired of "maybe's", "possibly", and all these other b.s. half-step measures? These damned politicians need to step up to the plate or get the boot, and the Congress needs to realize that we, the people, aren't going to give up. In fact, we're going to get right in their face, 24/7!

Send them a free fax, telling them how disgusting they are

Considering there are more private contractors in Iraq than US soldiers, I don't see this happening. The State Department is virtually powerless in this neocon administration. Erik Prince is one of Cheney's minions and you know that means he is untouchable with this administration in power, the Repubs voting on the party line, and the Dems with nowhere near the 2/3rds majority they need to do anything of consequence.

I thought Waxman was too busy taping Rush, Hannity, and Mark Levin to worry about the State Department. This silly little man has overseen 300 different investigations of Republicans, but he doesn't have time to investigate how many Democrats have been bought, and paid for by George Soros, and Norman Hsu. His constituency must be so proud.

Now, if I were a conspiracy theorist, I would say that everything is going exactly according to plan. I would theorize that:
- Iraq was just meant to be a training ground for Blackwater
- The recent scandal about tainted trucks and the square shooting were deliberately leaked to start increasing pressure to get Blackwater out of Iraq
- With Blackwater out of Iraq, they have to go somewhere -- i.e. home to the U.S.
- A large mercenary army will be recalled (by public demand!) and in place when a "major emergency" makes it necessary for the President to declare Martial Law and "postpone" the election indefinitely.
It's a good thing I'm not a conspiracy theorist.

MAY???
May phase out??
What the hell? They are murdering Iraq citizens and Iraq does not want them there! We are trying to set up Iraq, according to Bush himself, to stand up. Now that they are finally standing up to us, we are not listening.
Yeah, this war was TOTALLY about their democracy and nothing else.
Why are they trying to stop Bush and his hired goons from killing their innocent civillians? How dare they!

OK, so how many of you want to have guns pulled on you while your trying to survive a natural disaster, huh? If you own a gun, and your trapped in your home due to flood and/or earthquake, do you want a Blackwater thug beating down yur door disarming you? That is happening today, mind you, in America. And those thugs are not all Americans!

The vast majority of beat cops I know dont support gun control. They do support severe sentencing for anyone caught using a firearm illegally.

I think Police would like to be the only ones with guns. What is wrong with that picture? There is a reason we have the second Amendment. It is not to protect us from criminals, we have Police for that. It is not to protect us from foreign enemies, we have the military for that. It is to protect us from an out of control Federal Government that wants to disarm us, and control us. Tell us if we can smoke, drink, eat unhealthy food, have risky sex partners. Tell us what kind of car to drive, food to eat, tell us when to go to the Doctor, what news to watch on T V. They are out there, so make sure your gun is clean, and your ammo is ready.

I agree with you on this, Aniokly. Stop it, you're scaring me.
I would add that it will be your shotgun or hunting rifle against cops, national guard or regular army in headgear with shields and body armor. Probably riding in armored vehicles.
So that "they can have my gun when they take it out of my cold dead fingers" rhetoric may prove distressingly prophetic for you.

You'll be fighting Blackwater. And they have tanks and helicopters.

When they say they may "phase out" Blackwater, that means they will change the name of the company.

Nope, Its a money issue.Theyve got skills that the private sector wants and are willing to pay for. You dont find the kind of men that your describing in special ops. They tend to be highly motivated, disiplined...very type "A" personalities that dont tolerate the kind of lardass, monday morning quarterback slackers that are in heavy abundance on the left side of this site.
