What a day! I am humbled and inspired, grateful and thrilled for this vast outpouring of support.
On just one day, in honor of the 234th anniversary of the Boston Tea Party, the new American revolutionaries brought in $6.04 million, another one-day record. The average donation was $102; we had 58,407 individual contributors, of whom an astounding 24,915 were first-time donors. And it was an entirely voluntary, self-organized, decentralized, independent effort on the internet. Must be the "spammers" I keep hearing about!
The establishment is baffled and worried, and well they should be. They keep asking me who runs our internet fundraising and controls our volunteers. To these top-down central planners, a spontaneous order like our movement is science-fiction. But you and I know it's real: as real as the American people's yearning for freedom, peace, and prosperity, as real as all the men and women who have sacrificed for our ideals, in the past and today.

  As I dropped in on a cheering, laughing crowd of about 600 near my home in Freeport, Texas, I noted that they call us "angry." Well, we are the happiest, most optimistic "angry" movement ever, and the most diverse. What unites us is a love of liberty, and a determination to fix what is wrong with our country, from the Fed to the IRS, from warfare to welfare.

    I realize that people are grabbing onto Ron Paul because of a perception that he's for the "Constitution. I disagree. Having studied his record, I find that he is very lacking in the concept of the common good, & would leave us more vulnerable than we are now to corporatists.

      I don't think Paul would have much luck implementing his policies fully with a dem/rep congress but just think of the difference from what we have now.With Paul,we would have a congress that seems to have forgotten the constitution trying to get bills past a guy who insists on laws being constitutional.I believe he is the only candidate who could start us in the right direction.

        I completely disagree. You think he couldn't accomplish anything? Look at the power grab bush has made, and gotten away with. NO thanks. I'll stick with a democrat. This guy is too scary, and too far right with an ability to stack the deck of the judiciary even further. He would also be able to put people in powerful positions within education, the FCC, & so on. This would lead us even further down the path of destruction. For instance, he doesn't believe in oversight. You might think we have propaganda now, but under 'his' FCC the nail would be in the coffin.

        actually there would be no FCC or education dept under Ron Paul because the govt shouldnt be interfering in what we say or how the state/local governments run their education departments. per the constitution 10th amendment.
        stack the judiciary with strict constitutionalists.. aka people in favor of the law.. sounds good to me.
        the preamble (section on common good) is just that, a preamble.. it is a discussion on philosophy, the articles and amendments outline the actual powers and restrictions of the government. in other words.. how to implement the philosophy of the preamble. the authors of the constitution were very serious about the fed not having any power not specifically given them in the document.. specifically.

        Yes, I know about the states right issue. Like the right of the bible belt to teach kids there is only one god, & that we're a 'christian' nation, so the division could be stronger than it is now. The revisionists would have a field day. If we aren't going to be cemented on the issues of social rights & education, along with how our air waves are used, why bother having a federal government at all? If we're going to allow states to trash what binds us, & do what they want with individual rights, WTH is the point of 'us?' All we have is the Constitution, to keep us free. That's it. If we all don't abide by it, we may as well become a bunch of little nations....on our own.

        we are a union of STATES. not provinces of a central government but individual states bound together by common purpose of infrastructure and defense. if you want the fed to provide more than that you will need an amendment.
        personally, I think there should be more gun control by the fed, but that is not allowed by the constitution at this time, and that is the law. if we don't obey the law.. well you can plainly see what happens by reading the newspaper.
        yes it would mean that there would be differences in education and abortion law and many other things depending on what state you were in. if you didn't like it where you were, you could move to another state that was more agreeable... what incredible freedom!!!!

        Really? Makes you wonder why they bothered with pesky things such as the rights of men, when what they really wanted (as you say) was a standing army. And all the writings of the framers, with their concern for the whim of the majority over the rights of one...just frivolous stuff I guess. What they REALLY meant was that states could go off on their own & do whatever they damn well pleased. Oh, I see now. We should have let those sovereign southern states have their slavery, and their discrimination laws. How did we get it so wrong? And education! OMG! Here they thought an education would give us a people who could make intelligent decisions, and help to build a nation that was even stronger from that intelligence, not to mention be free of the thumb of the 'upper classes.'

        I'm not sure where all this standing army talk comes from. the constituion itself provides for a standing navy and, in fact, does not allow for military budget to last more than two years (making the pentagon unconstitutional but who are we kidding). the role of the fed should be far more focused on supporting infrastructure. building interstates and traintracks and comm. networks so that commerce can take place. military (of whatever type) should be focused on border defense. this is the constituion.
        I am starting to suspect that the only thing you know about Ron Paul is what you have seen in the debates or mainstream press because your critiques of him are not accurate to his own comments.
        for a very long time this country operated without federal involvement in education (for example) and we did well. The SCOTUS cases ending segregation and even the civil war were constitutional because you cant have some free citizens or some equality and it's the job of the fed to insure that.

        I have absolutely no faith in dems to undo anything such as the patriot act,they never even read it before rubberstamping it.If Paul had been president it never would have been signed and we wouldn't be in Iraq.I want to see the country head more in the direction of the constitution,even though I don't agree with all of Paul's views I would vote for him if I had the chance.I have the same confidence in Kucinich but he doesn't have the momentum of Paul.

        I don't trust Paul. And the reason I don't trust him, is that he picks and chooses from the Constitution, while ignoring other principles. As for the democrats, I've watched them, and those that are thwarting the change we need are in the minority....such as the 'blue dog democrats.' I can look at the republicans, & the majority go along with the erosion of our country. So common sense tells me that the democrats are closer to getting us out of this mess.

        I agree with Paul about this war, or rather he agrees with me? But that isn't enough to get my vote. There is much more at issue than this war.
        As for 'lawyers', we are a nation of laws. I want someone 'in charge' who understands those laws.
