"Word consistently has it that a large portion of Iowa "undecideds" are leaning toward Biden. And two weeks ago, Chris Matthews of Hardball placed the six-term senator from Delaware third in the Iowa race.

Sen. Biden's viability as a presidential candidate makes good sense: he has more experience in foreign affairs than do Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and John Edwards COMBINED. In fact, as a six-term senator, he has more experience in every realm of the presidency than do the three frontrunners."

I do not always agree with you,but on this i do.Not only does Biden have more foreign policy experience than any of the democrats, but also the republican field.Richarson and Dodd are close seconds..Any one of those three candidates would make a fine president, one that we could trust and sleep at night knowing they have the best interest of our country at heart.

avatar
Reply

Don't know too much about Dodd . But do agree on Biden as for Richerson thats a no.

avatar
Reply

why no on Richardson..? Dodd is a good man.

I'm not trying to bait you ranchhand. There are a couple of things that i'm not sure about with him,but he is the only candidate that has spoken about rebuilding our military, and that i like a lot.He says he will add two more divisions to our army and re-equip our forces. In light of how weakened our forces have become that only makes sense to me.

Tony Rangel wants to bring back the draft. I won't vote for him either.

avatar
Reply

That would be Charles Rangel.

And why are we not having a draft? If Iraq is so vitally important to the national interest, why are we not drumming up new recruits to relieve our overstretched military?

avatar
Reply

You know the answer to that..lol..A draft would make the entire country participate in this war..the arm chair generals would have to watch their family members go to war and get killed, everyone would begin to pay the price..hence,no draft.

avatar

ok have to agree

avatar
Reply

So sorry but there are quite a few of us who have kissed loved ones good-bye that is over there right now. You know the ones you claim on here to be an arm chair general?

avatar

Well OK Charles Rangel, thanks for clearing that up..

In politics, experience = status quo. I don't think that having a long term in congress with no real substantive changes being made qualifies someone for anything.

being in office a long time seems to point to the fact they are used to and comfortable with the way things run in washington. That means they will continue to be happy with it.

I couldn't agree with you more, NAMECRITIC. While I like Chris Dodd, his experience is not an overwhelming, decisive factor for me. Besides, people like to bandy the term "experience" when what people are really looking for is wisdom. The problem is that most people don't bother to challenge the underlying assumption in these arguments that more experience equates to more wisdom. This is not necessarily the case. Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney are prime examples--hardly any Republican boasts as lengthy a resume as these two, yet they've performed miserably and with unwise policy decisions.

Besides, if experience is what makes or breaks a candidate suitability for the presidency, then all of the Republicans ought to be flocking to McCain's camp as none of the other Republican candidates have as much foreign policy experience as McCain does. Obviously, this is not happening.

"Just 10 days after doing a column on how Joe Biden was quietly mounting support for a possible third-place finish in Iowa behind Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, more good news for Biden supporters has filtered in from the 'ground,' as the workers call it out there.

"Biased as they may be, my own personal ground source recently reported in. Two more (Iowa) state lawmakers have added their names as Biden caucus supporters, brining his total to 18, about the same as Clinton has."

If he wins the nomination, there are only one or two Republicans that I would vote for over him. Their names are not Mitt or Rudy.

I would consider Biden, too, over most of our Republican candidates. Except for maybe one or two. I have totally ruled out Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee. The more I know about Mike, the less I like.

avatar
Reply

I don't like Huckabee for his weak stance on immigration and foreign policy with Iran

avatar

Zackly. And even though I'm a conservative christian, his evangelism scares me a little. I think he's holding back, too.

avatar
Reply

Agree, the Huckaboom is a fooler. He gets low grades in immigration.......check him out here........

If Biden,Richardson,or Dodd get the nomination then the repubs might as well concede. They have no one of the same caliber.

I don't know about that there is always Duncan Hunter. Y'all know Reagan did a surprise upset in Texas when he was running.

avatar
Reply

I do believe that Hunter is a good one. Yet I don't think he will ever achieve enough recognition for his efforts.

I would vote in a heart beat for someone that is as qualified as Joe Biden. Hope he makes it for the Democratic bid.

Me, too!

very true...

avatar

Now I like Biden. Makes a whole lotta sense. I think he is the better of the democrats.

I still am sticking to my guns over Duncan Hunter. Another one that the media don't want us to hear about.

avatar
Reply

Ranchhand..i would hope that you check out the others also. Those names need to be in front of the entire country, and i'm afraid that if hillary or obama wins Iowa then the country will not know that there are more qualified candidates than them.

check all of them out here........... I see little difference in most.

If Hillary or Obama wins better start thinking of that second language and maybe even a third.

avatar
Reply

Why? Would it kill you to be multilingual? You know, most employers would consider that to be an asset, not a deficiency.

avatar

lol, I don't think that's quite what he meant.

I was being facetious.

dang it Joey Evans . Would you like for me to add you to my friends list so that you will be able to expand you neg list. Don't want you to get corpora syndrome.

avatar

lol, his affliction is growing.

I saw Sen Biden speak at a fair in N H, and he made a lot of sense. He and Governor Richardson are the most experienced, and if the media devoted as much time to Sen Biden as they did to Barak Hussein Obama, and Sen Clinton, they would be top tier. I hope he pulls it off.

avatar
Reply

Joe Biden seems to me to be a compromise candidate that many on both sides of the aisle can agree on...perchance a true 'Uniter'???

avatar
Reply

Perhaps.

avatar
Reply

he's electable at least. I just got tired of washington insiders altogether. Like to see some fresh blood myself.

avatar
Reply

Having been in Washington for the last 30 years, he could be seen as the ultimate 'insider'.

I'm still hoping for the liberal base of the Democratic party to vote their "feelings" and nominate Hillary.

and when us Conservatives come together and get Fred his nomination.

all we have to do then is wait on RONPAUL to go Libertarian.

and we end up with a conservative Republican in the White House.

avatar
Reply

Ron Paul has already run for Pres as a libertarian, and has said REPEATEDLY that he will not do so again.

avatar
Reply

I for one would be very disappointed to see that old coot Fred Thompson win the bid for President. But if you think there is a possibility then I'm buying stock in Geritol.

avatar
Reply

Purpose gave you a plus for humor

avatar
Reply

Ok you buy stock in Geritol but I'M buying into Rogaine I know when the republicans win there will be a lot of democrats pulling their hair out.

avatar
Reply

So you think ron paul as an independent would hurt democrats?

avatar
Reply

I thought that he'd siphon the "log-cabin" Republican vote, thus ensuring a Democrat victory.

avatar
Reply

If I vote that side of the ticket then it's Go JOE!

As for Hillary, it will be Heave HO!

LOL

avatar
Reply

ROFLMAO! So far the best post of the thread. :D

Why thank you very much. :-)
