Politics – Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton won New Hampshire's Democratic primary Tuesday night in a startling upset, defeating Sen. Barack Obama and resurrecting her bid for the White House. Sen. John McCain powered past his Republican rivals and back into contention for the GOP nomination.

So much for Obama media hype.
Look out for turn out for Edwards come super Tuesday.
So much for ALL the media hype. First it was Hillary's inevitable. Then Obama's unstoppable.
Maybe the real story is that the American Press is fallible.
GOOD! Now it's not a cake walk for anybody. Let the real fight begin.
3 states have spoken and given us 5 different winners. This is why so many states wanted to move up their primaries or caucuses.
What the results of Iowa, Wyoming, and New Hampshire tell us is that no matter what polls, pollsters, pundits or politicians claim, every voter in every state will reserve the right to make up his or her own mind.
To be in on this media circus that in the end has almost nothing to do with whom we elect? This is just foolishness. We would all be better off with a calm and studied review of the candidates, with more direct debate and speeches, and no worry or concern on the part of people in 49 states how people in one vote today, nearly a year before the nation decides. "Shocking turnaround"? Hogwash. To news men, maybe.
She now knows that tears worked in New Hampshire but will they work elsewhere and will the early primary tears show the other states the real Hillary? Sorry, but she is sooooo fake and many aren't falling for it. This is a 3 way race for the Libs and it is far from over.
Her goons got in and doctored the counts. Good theory.
But it kind of makes sense....
States are different. NH has high avg income, very low number of uninsured, low unemployment rate, low number of minority voters, and high medium house price ... NH voters not as concerned with drug prices, uninsured, offshoring.
I think Obama, Edwards will do quite well in Midwest, South....
Hillary - will not.
I agree. Living next door to New Hampshire, we go over there often for shopping runs. What you say about the uniqueness of the state is exactly right. Further, New Hampshireites have a longstanding reputation for being mavericks in politics. I think a significant number of them switched to Hillary at the last minute simply to say to the media pundits, "Not so fast."
Though I lived some wonderful years in N. Vt I never felt like I had a handle on the NH'ites with whom we shared our whole Eastern border and didn't cross over so much.
As to this business here..
One swallow does not a summer make and if US politics is not about swings and roundabouts and 3-ringed circuses I don't know what it IS about.
I think its GREAT for the political process that there is still a fight on the democrat side! Apart from anything else what would we have to talk about here if it had all been sewn up by 1 contest in Iowa? There'd have been nothing to do except dissect that one candidate in ever smaller increments. YAWN!!
Obama was stunning in Iowa. Hillary showed real mettle in her comeback. Now we get to see HIM fight back and with a bit of luck we'll be learning a hell of a lot more about his political skills in practice.
I can't even pretend to be able to find anything interesting about any of the Republican candidates.
Both candidates received the same number of delegates, future states will tell the tale. Who in their right mind listens to polls, make up your own mind. Evidently those in New Hampshire did.
I think it's a crapshoot and the media is just guessing. I like to call the McCain win "When RINOs Attack". I hope McCain enjoys his win in a very liberal state, because he won't win another. MA is Mitt's territory and NH is definitely atypical of Republican candidate preferences.
McCain reads like a third grader... Scary...
My 14 months old son is more passionate about his pacifier then McCain is about wining NH.
Bla Bla Bla.
"So much for Obama media hype."
One of many just idiotic comments we would expect this morning. I am even beginning to see Republicans openly root for Hillary.
But to say Obama failed to live up to expectations is pure media hype as well. He was like 20 points down in New Hampshire prior to Iowa. And the crowds that came out last week were no illusion. We will have change, change is absolutely necessary and Hillary is not the candidate of change. Edwards is done, even in SC he will not win. Eventually he will put his support behind one of the other candidates and that should decide things for good. That is much more likely to be Obama. Oh sure we hear the rhetoric that he will fight to the end but that is nothing new. He could be out in a few weeks. Maybe end up back in the VP slot.
"I am even beginning to see Republicans openly root for Hillary."
If so, it's because she's a more beatable candidate.
She has more in common with Bush than the other candidates. She may be the most beatable, but she's also the favorite Democrat among the special interests who support Bush. Kind of a win-win for the neocons.
No no no no no no no...we do NOT want Hillary, never never never!!! Maybe the "neocons" want her, but the Republicans DO NOT.
Gee, that's how we feel about ALL the republican candidates.
How you feel.
Gimme a break Ricky, like Billeary or the camel jockey would make a better president then McCain. What world do you live in, or should I say which project!
So mccain was tortured in Vietnam and when bush wanted to torture Iraqis mccain was all against it at first and then caved. Good to see a politician who can stand by his principles. LOL.
Don't fool yourself Justice, republicans do not support the hildabeast. As a matter of fact, only a fool would. Why the hell would anyone want 4-8 more years of the same 2 families? Hillary is right, America needs change! No more clintons, bush's or kennedy's.
AW come on. We elect Hillary for two term then Jeb Bush for two terms and then Chelsae for two terms. Sounds good to me.
GAG
Okay, I think I just threw up a little.
This is where the difference between a Republican, neocon and special interest are important. I did not say she was the favorite among Republicans. Only among the special interests that have way too much control over the Republican party.
I was a Republican for over 30 years and there is almost nothing I like about her. But she's a dang sight better than Bush and I would vote for her over anyone who supports Bush.
I wish people would take a closer look at Ron Paul. But the special interestes are out to get both him and Obama. Neither have a chance because the special interests that control the media do not like either of them.
Um, the most suspectable to being swift-boated! I see a whisper campaign like no other in her future if she wins the nomination.
If by "being swift-boated" you mean that she has skeletons in the closet that will come to haunt her, then you are correct.
no, by swiftboated we mean lied about. the swiftboaters were PROVEN to be liars DK, and i suspect you KNOW that. if not youre either uninformed, or in denial (and thats NOT a river in egypt)
I've heard claims that they were liars but precious little evidence. Mainly sour grapes responses like this, heavy on emotion, light on facts.
Swiftboating is leveling charges without proof. The burden of proof then falls to the accused. Typical of a mentality that would endorse Bush for 7 years. Lies and liars. And lets also leave some wiggle room for plausable deniability.
But what do you really have at the end of the day?
Once again, no counter evidence offered.
They don't need evidence. If they say it is so, then it is so. They wouldn't lie would they???
Only if it helped them.
Oh, you mean the way it helped you "beat" John Kerry in 2004?
Here's your counter evidence, why don't you ask the guys who actually SERVED with him? You are dumber than a sack of hammers if you think the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth were telling the truth. Hell, one of them never even set foot on South Vietnamese soil.
Kerry was there for all of 3 months. Every C.O. he had came out against him.
Three MINUTES in combat can be an eternity. How many eternities did your neocon heroes experience? NADA! How about you? How long were you there? Where did you serve? Did you fight or were you a REMF? How many purple hearts do you have? How many bronze or silver stars? If you have no combat experience and have not been awarded any of these medals, then what gives you the right to criticize and lie about someone who has? You should thank your lucky stars there are men willing to step up and fight for your right to be an ungrateful shill for cowards and chickenhawks.
"Every C.O. he had came out against him."
That is another blatant lie. He got high reviews and was decorated for bravery several times. That wouldn't happen if his CO was "against" him. He would have been demoted or given some insignificant job somewhere in the bowels of a ship.
Nice try, Monkeycrap! A document opposing him was signed during the campaign by his former C.O.s.
LOL Just like a swifty.....How many more times.....

The article attacks the Swiftboaters but doesn't really debunk the truthfulness of their statements.
If you mean the article exposes the SBVT's unsavory tactic and deceitful methods, yes it does. But it also debunks many of the lies and has links that debunk all the lies they told.
not really. It's an attack story, light on facts.
Isn't that the same measure of their commercials?
I know that every commanding officer Kerry had in Vietnam signed a document opposing him. Says something about the man.
Surprisingly, you didn't answer the question.
Could you please provide some documentation that "every commanding officer signed a document" opposing him? You are making a statement of fact. Please provide support that it is truly a fact.
And believe me, I am not a Kerry supporter. I don't really believe in his politics, but I respect him as a vet and what he put on the line for his country. He may have not believed in the purpose (or lack thereof) in fighting in Viet Nam, but he still went and fought for his country.
Their statements were NOT true. You REALLY DON'T KNOW beyond any doubt that the swiftboaters weren't lying ( and I know you really don't care if they were or not), but that's OK by you....as long as the ends justified the means!
Now tell me I'm wrong about that. I dare ya!
lol! I would just love to meet you, Scott. :D
The only evidence that is required is to spend some time with someone who served on one of these boats. The so-called Swift Boat Veterans who attacked Kerry know far better than this was an easy tour of duty with little risk and was certainly not a place to make a name for yourself. Would likely get you killed.
My next door neighbor for years served on one of these boats and described days of no sleep wondering when the enemy would attack from the shore. He saw men cut in half by fire and heads displayed on pikes in the water. Anybody who buys the claims of these disgruntled publicity seeking men needs to have their head examined. And you are a rather large group. If you don't do your research or talk to eyewitness's from that era you make an easy dupe.
Can you provide evidence that the commercials were factual?
Are you supportive of Richard Hand's comments about McCain in the 2000 SC primary? It helped launched Bush. Were they factual?
When were the Swift Boat Vets debunked? Hanoi John said if they lied about him, and published "Unfit for Command" he would sue. They published, and no one sued, because it was he who lied. Telling the truth about the opposition is a good thing. If your candidate is a liar, and you cannot find credible media coverage, you go to writings from the the candidate, and about the candidate.
He did try to strongarm the publisher and book chains to stop the book, which made me buy a copy.
