Politics – Is McCain the straight shooting Maverick from Nevada? What did the Bush-McCain "compassionate torture" compromise reveal? Did McCain flip flop on the Iraq War, Christian values, and his beliefs on Separation of Church and State? Can you trust this man to be the next president?
He's a bootlicker plain and simple. The way he rolled over on torture - just makes me wonder what GWB&Company did to him. We need to compare some before and after photos - maybe we'll find out that McCain is now taller than he used to be and is now a leftie when he used to be right handed. My meaning is that McCain is now a pod person, or something like that.
For many years he was 1 republican that I actually liked. The horrors that the bush campaign put him through in the 2000 election seemed to have changed him into a different man. One of the false flag e mails I recieved during that 2000 election bid claimed he was a "manchurian candidate", that he was a sleeper toadie for the Viet Cong... of course I wonder who sent that? Other attrocities included phone calls pretending to be pollsters who told you his wife was a drunken lunatic and his adapted Indian daughter was a "black baby he had out of wedlock". I always thought he was a decent fellow, but after that he really changed, he tried to fit in with the people who did this to him rather than fight them. He may be a sort of Manchurian Candidate now,( A Cheneyian Candidate?) I don't know what happened to him but this is not the same man.
I think he finally realized what was required to be at the head of the New Repugnican party, and he wanted in enough to sell whatever soul he had left after the Keating Five Scandal of the 80s.
Sadly, leaving our Ron Paul, he was and is still the most decent Repugnican running this time. Imagine a President Giuliani. We'd have George Bush's lunatic leadership in the hands of someone competent at getting the wrong thing done.

Sen. McCain was one of the senators that I'm am a little familiar with and had always thought that he had a bit of common sense, Whether it is him or his advisors there has been a change in his position on different issues. Some may say that in the excitement of the race he may be saying what he thinks the voters want too hear, if this is so then we have another politician that is only a politician and not a leader.
What happen to him in that war he fought? One can tell he suffered mentally. If there is to be another nut case then let it be the one to achieve the horrible end which will be fast. I really don't want to know I'm going to meet my maker, till I get there. Who knows He might stop them before they get to US. Bet ya if you dropped him off in the Pakistan mountains he would get the big O. I know a few crazy VNV's sitting in jail now, that would eat their hearts out to get a free get out of jail card to get the Big O. No matter what they did to get jail they would still fight for their country and win. People lick boots because they weave their minds into thinking they have to have it all. There is a lot of those out there. Take your pick.

There are a lot of politicians that just run their mouth. It's the hidden agenda you have to look at. Obama, Huckabee and the rest of them all have one, you do not see, but it shall come to light from out of their own mouth.
I am putting McCain under the microscope because he's a contender for the presidency and because he has demonstrated a lack of integrity that I don't believe should be overlooked, as our nation did with George Bush.
You may not believe there is anyone worthy of the office, but someone will fill that position. Wouldn't a responsible person want to screen out the most dangerous and support the best candidate availabe despite their flaws?
It appears to me that some of us, like yourself, want to throw the baby out with the dirty bathwater. I don't think that will help us as find a better way.
The worst - and most damning - part of it is that he earned
the Maverick title early on because he seemed to HAVE a
sense of integrity that was not being displayed by fellow
Republicans - He knows the difference!
He willingly trashed the best part of his character - to win.
I think he is a somewhat tragic figure now. The neocon machine was merciless to he and his wife AND family but I don't think
he is crazy - maybe dazed and hurt - but he has made terrible
choices to sell his candidacy.
I still can't get my mind around him saying that Americans don't care if they have to be in Iraq for the next thousand years.

I used to like McCain, but now I think he is just a panderer. He panders to whichever group he's talking to and I still say we don't need more of the same.
As Democrats, we should be looking at who can best move the country forward. Is that Hillary? Can Hillary beat a McCain/Huckabee ticket in November? Something to think about.

I think that's a valid question. I don't know. I think that of the twain, Obama is far less polarizing.
Obama lost in New Hampshire because the independents voted for McCain. At least that's the way I see it. Will it be that way in the general? I simply don't know.

You really want the truth. I don't see McCain making it. He's crazy. I also do not want our troops to come home to turn around and go to another war or peace keeping mission in South Africa. We are not financially able to tote the boat. There is a hidden food shortage going on here right now. Our people are being attacked with one natural disaster after another. If the news media gave a rats behind about our country they would atleast give their coverage free to the politicians so the money we could spare, can rescue those in these disasters.

There is a shortage of CORN, because the genius is letting them sell it overseas and using it in gasoline, which burns more pollution to process it than it saves in cars.
That demand has driven up the corn prices, which is used for
cattle feed, which drives the price of beef and dairy up.
That, coupled with the 50% increase in gas prices, has increased the cost to bring products to market and now it is locked in as a permanent price squeeze... Now maybe YOU have to read this 3 or 4 times to see if it registers, but Bush, like all previous 42 presidents is supposed to be surrounded by economists who know this automatically.

McCain is like the character in Orwell's "1984" who undergoes torture in the Ministry of Love (Minilove) and later reappears in the general population, alive but a mere shell of his former self. Bush-Rove worked him over so mercilessly leading up to the South Carolina primary in 2000, and the Limbaugh Coulter Faux Noise machine have skewered him so thoroughly ever since that McCain is nothing but a paper cut-out. Like Winston Smith after Minilove, McCain can say five is four and actually believe it.
