So if he goes into those talks with no stick to wave. Does that make him more effective. If they can sit across the table and say what are you going to do if we do not agree with you. You can't invade or attack us you haven't asked your congress for permission. Matter of fact you have attacked those in your congress who gave a President the permission to use the threat of force to negotiate. We don't care what you want you cannot dare go to congress and ask for a resolution authorizing the use of force since you have one your election simply by attacking those who did grant that to a president. We think your congress will not grant you that authorization based your history.

You are correct. I do not agree, nor I believe in McCain either. Let's choose:
1.) Obama (president) - Clinton (vice president)
OR
2.) Clinton (president) - Obama (vice president).
LOL!

Why would Obama want to be VP??
Keep in mind the actual power structure would be Hillary-Bill-Obama
Also why would he want to be part of an administration that is likely to be as controversial as Bill's with the press reporting on any scandal they get a whiff of?
Obama would be smart to decline that offer if Hillary wins the nomination

P.S. Please do not try to tell me that you didn't meant McCain.
For the first, if you read article, three was about more than one presidential candidates.
McCain?

I see, by your logic the only way to get countries to work with you is if they are afraid of you. In other words "bully logic" Well that logic has worked really well for us in the last 7 years, hasn't it? (full sarcasm on)
Obama is extremely intelligent, unlike our current leader, and he knows there are better ways of getting results than bullying. But also after what has transpired under the Bush administration, Congress would probably trust Obama with the power to use force much more than Hillary or McCain who both have itchy trigger fingers.

It is always better to negotiate from a position of strength, when dealing with nations the are hostile to you. You need there leaders to know we are willing to talk but we are not weak. If they believe you are weak they will make more demands of you and be less willing to compromise.

Did Obama happen to tell you how he would Convince these other countries to join us in Peace? I know he wants to sit down with the Muslim leaders, and Western leaders, and talk. He never says about what? This is not the time to vote for the prettiest candidate. We need someone who understands National Security, and that is not Obama/

Carrot and stick diplomacy works best when you rely more on the carrot than the stick. But you should always have the stick ready just in case you need it.

He also posted it in reply to something I said earlier, though it could be that it just made sense to him each time and didn't feel like typing it out three times. His point is that Obama isn't as effective on foreign policy as Clinton or McCain would be, I believe.

I was really shocked when I opened this thread and saw the comment there. The only place I posted the comment was to midar. Got me swinging on this one guys.

About what I expected with Obama tonight, though not this dramatically in margins. Huckabee is interesting and it will be funny to see if he can pull off the Washington win and end up beating out McCain by a nose, particularly if Romney's supporters go to Huckabee over McCain. Well, lets see what happens! Hope Obama pulls off an upset. I'm just worried about a solid Democratic base come the convention. A walk out by Obama could hurt if he can claim a back room deal of some sort. Look at the Republicans in 1912. The only way it will be entirely safe to choose Hillary, as matters stand, is if even without Florida and Michigan seated that she is ahead in the pledged delegates. If thats not the situation, or the situation isn't one of Obama being ahead even with all those unseated delegates seated and he gets the nomination, it can be ugly if no one is big enough to back down. I hope someone will be big enough at the convention to step down if needed!

Barack Obama will be the Democratic nominee and the ultimate President of the country on 1/20/2009.
He can debate at any time and any place and beat the s%^& out of that "my friend" hypocrite war mongering flip flop con artist from AZ.
It is about time to drive these same old grumpy lobby fudged white politicians out of power ranks in Washington. It is about time for a person like Obama to start meaningful dialogue with regimes in Middle East (leave Israel out) and bring about peace and unity out of deadly divisions the neo cons have brought about in the last 8 years.
It is about time to replace cluster bombs with olive branches.
It is about time to live out of tax revenues and stop getting loan checks from China to patrol streets of Baghdad.

Obama's father was a Kenyan of Luo ethnicity. Luo's are christians and not muslims. "Christian missionary activity began in Kenya's hinterland when its interior was opened to rail travel between Mombasa and Uganda at the end of the nineteenth century. Churches were founded in the 1920s and 1930s, especially in areas where Kikuyu, Luo, and Luhya predominated."
The above information is readily available on the internet. Over 70% of Kenyans are christians with the Bajuns and the Somalis being the only muslims and not all the Bajuns are muslims. Too bad people can't resort to facts rather than to gossip.

Obama - whose father, stepfather, brother and grandfather were Muslims - explained his own first name, Barack, in "Dreams": "It means 'Blessed.' In Arabic. My grandfather was a Muslim."
In his second memoir, "The Audacity of Hope," Obama added: "Although my father had been raised a Muslim, by the time he met my mother he was a confirmed atheist."

Now, that would be something, wouldn't it? If his Muslim father is raised from the dead and visits the White House, can he actually be mistaken for the second coming of Jesus Christ? Wouldn't this trigger the end of the world?
This is a situation that could cause much confusion for many Christians.

Even though these were predicted victories by Senator Obama, the margins were all very impressive and not predicted. The Jefferson Jackson dinner speech that he gave last night in Virginia was quite good as was Senator Clinton's.
I predict Virginia will vote 'Blue' in November. Former governor Mark Warner will win the senate race in Virginia in a landslide.

I'm not sure about Virginia, but with Obama I'm almost certain that Missouri will be close... I'd favor Obama winning in Missouri over McCain or Huckabee. It, like a few other red states, has a diverse population that could easily go blue in a general election. Clinton... I don't know. I doubt that Clinton will take Missouri against McCain or Huckabee. Also, it is good to note that in Missouri that Republican Governor Blunt is refusing to run for re-election and his Lt. Governor was going to and then pulled out after a couple of weeks. The Republican State Legislature also voted to give itself a pay raise. Republicans are not in the best of graces in Missouri at the moment which is more reason I think it can go blue in the general. But what do I know? I predicted Obama winning the county I live in when Clinton won with 52%!

It is not a sin if Barack's father is a muslim. His father is not in the elctions. It is his son. Get used to it as Obama will be here for a long long long time.

This is really going to be interesting
What is Howard Dean going to do - he is really in a tough spot.
Clinton is already pushing to get the delegates from FL & Michigan seated. She is also lobbying the super delegates
Can you imagine a back room with Howard Dean trying to get a deal cut with the candidates representatives - Bill Clinton and Ted Kennedy!
Sheesh Dean must be having nightmares
Reply-

Mdiar8 months ago
If I were a Democrat I know I'd be having nightmares. This entire situation can go wrong on so many levels. The simplest, if most costly solution (and annoying to the voters), would be to hold the respective elections again for Michigan and Florida. That way the delegates are seated and Obama can't complain that no campaigning was done and that he wasn't even on the Michigan ballot. Then maybe we'll see a clear winner the Democrats can choose from without any unseated delegate controversy. You also notice that Hillary doesn't seem to be complaining about states that lost half of its delegates that went with Obama? Almost certain they exist, but I could be mistaken. The Democrats shouldn't have stripped delegates in the first place IMO. Now they risk a possible walk-out by Obama. I know its not likely but even a vague possibility must be horrible to contemplate for Dean!

As far as I know FLA and MICH are the only two states where that has happened. I haven't heard her complain about this she simply said she would try to get them seated. Wouldn't you if you were her?
