Bubba, don't forget he only goes through the motions when he visits our wounded soldiers too... remember Walter Reed conditions and the fact that he also recently vetoed the Defense Appropriation Bill because it would have allowed soldiers tortured by Sadam in '91 to file against Iraq. But, Dumya has allowed Korean and Japanese companies to make claims against Iraq!

On January 7, 2008, we had several tornadoes here in South West Missouri. The first one came down about 5 miles south of Monett, Mo., and it demolished a mobile home park that I own. All the mobile homes except for 2, were vacant. I was in the process of getting a sewer treatment plant underway, and for that reason, I was unable to rent more then 3 or 4 dwellings, as they were all operating on one septic tank.
I owned 17 mobile homes in that park, all of which were uninsured. (the insurance companies refused to insure them since they were not occupied) Every mobile home as well as a small house were completely destroyed. There is no help bring offered to victims at all. Not even low interest FEMA loans. Nothing, zip, notta, zero, the big goose egg.
That same night, many others were hit by the tornadoes. As many as 30 were spotted, and as many as 20 touched down. Yet no one in Missouri has been offered any help, except public entities.

Do you think Texas got the same treatment when they were hit?
Do you think the people of Florida were given the same treatment?

Interesting that Bush showed up in Tennessee but not in Missouri.
However - you need to confirm whether or not the governor of Missouri declared any counties as disaster areas. Only if that is made 'official' will FEMA and the Feds show up at all.
I'm very sorry to hear about the significant destruction to your property, but at least apparently no loss of life.
I live in Memphis - the tornadoes missed my home by just a few miles. There were 9 tornadoes that touched down in Memphis and in DeSoto county (just across the Mississippi state line), so I consider myself and my neighbors VERY VERY lucky.

Perplexing, why do many, including myself hate our great decider in chief? It's simple, the man has a problem nobody has diagnosed before,
FOOT INTO MOUTH DISEASE!!!!

Well, frankly, to answer the question posed by the article...it's just you and others like you. You're so full of hate for President Bush that you can only see and hear what you want...no matter what he says or does.

I know! Do you remember when Bush turned on that horrible hurricane machine in the Gulf of Mexico? He almost wiped out all of New Orleans with that thing!
Also, the way he stood behind people signing for $400,000 mortgages with no money down and no job. He was really badgering them to sign!
And now he has a tornado machine.
We better just run him out of office before he destroys us all!

That is how the righties like to twist what any one says about Bush and/or the Republicans.
Criticizm = hate.
Guess what? Wrong ... but you try to make it that way because you have NO other defense of his horrible performance as a leader and his law-breaking tenure in office.
I have every right to criticize Bush because I am an American and I will speak up when I see wrong-doing.
I live in Memphis. Bush "flew in" and "flew over" some of the damaged areas. What a guy ... that was a BIG help ... not. Chertoff hung around for a couple of hours, said he stands "shoulder to shoulder" with those affected, then he left.
FEMA will finally be here on Sunday, several days AFTER our county was declared a disaster area. Many are homeless and have none of their possessions and need HELP to get their lives back in order.
And before you say it - the local community is doing a LOT to help out its own. But that alone is not enough.

Riiiiiight...read down through the comments on that website and tell me that's "just" criticism and not hatred. Look at NelsonR's comment above.
That you have the right to criticize our President or other elected leaders is a given. The question was whether or not this particular comment showed a "callous" attitude towards the disaster. It didn't. The vehemence of comments, yours included, that it did is evidence to me that certain people can only view President Bush with hatred. Thus, no matter what he says or does, it'll never be good to you.

SOTM, Here's once I agree with you. Bush is actually telling these poor folks the bare-knuckled truth. But if I were wording condolences in hopes of finding some bright spot in my otherwise severely tarnished presidential legacy, this would not have been my choice of words.
And when you look at Bush's actions overall, he has consolidated power and money for himself and his cronies at a rate that would shame Boss Tweed. His actions make it glaring obvious that he cares not a twit for the common man. He cares only about himself and his elite.

son, if someone fails at everything he does ... and people die, both US and a lot of foriegn innocents... we have a right to hate him! Then, how he has destroyed the US image abroad, not withstanding his abuse of the Constitution and the Congress! Such un-American behavior by Dumya and his supporters!

I don't believe Bush has shown any compassion whatsoever in this or any other disaster he has been presidin' over. Everyone knows he did not cause the events. But I don't believe he has acted in any way compassionate nor effectively in this, Katrina, 9/11 nor any other predicament faced since his administration took office. I don't hate him personally but I don't support his political agenda, and I feel his presidency has harmed the nation tremendously. If the tables were turned and it was say Hillary Clinton who behaved this way should I dismiss any criticism as invalid from those who frown on her politics? I would think not.

It's the truth... Do not rely on your government. For disasters, start now, making pacts with your neighbors and friends. For social security, invest in your children or young friends. For Mecical care, pool your savings with others in your family and community.

What more could Bush have done? ROFLMAO, try anything. It seems when you look at the compassion of Bush and the REPUBLICANS it seems you only need to look to the Katrina debacle. When touring the disaster a news reporter was interviewing residents and asked if they knew where Pres Bush was. One resident summed his "compassion" up nicely by saying "The cameras are gone, so is he".
And if course we at least have the National GUard who can jump in and help the tornado victims. Oh yeah wait I forgot he has them in Iraq instead of here where they belong.
