While the title is somewhat tongue-in-cheek, one has to wonder. Sunday on Meet the Press, Ralph Nader announced his candidacy for president. I am a practical person. Looking at this bid in those terms, this bid makes absolutely no sense. So why bother? Is Nader an impractical person? Or is he just in bed with the GOP?

I disagree with the writers final statements. I think Nader is in bed with the GOP and was back in 200 when he ran the first time.

I believe it's like the article says: he may not be in bed with the GOP, but at this point he may as well be. I can no longer even listen to Nader talk, just as I can't bear to listen to George Bush. Like Bush, Nader sickens me. His intransigent hubris, his slick, self-serving sophistry and his sanctimonious demeanor make me want to simply smack him senseless. What an absolute ass. And to think the man used to be a hero of mine for his courage and his integrity. Then again, what the hell... I used to like Nancy Pelosi too...

Anyone who is a Nader supporter and who votes for him YET AGAIN, this time around, is a certifiable imbecile.

If Dems or Indies that you think would go for the Dem nominee end up going for Nader, who's fault is that?

It's up to the Dem nominee to make sure s/he appeals to those voters so that they don't vote for Nader.

I've read posts of yours where you come close to sounding reasonably intelligent. Then you say something moronic like this, and I realize, no, you're just another low-caliber neocon mouthpiece like locky12, aniokly, tanglang, endoscopy, klarissa and some of these other fascist clowns around here. Too bad.

The only thing as bad as Ralph Nader is people who would vote for Ralph Nader while someone like Bush is running, and now McCain. Those who vote for Nader are essentially voting for more dead U.S. Soldiers in Iraq. Many, many more -- 100 years worth at least. That is my message to each and every Nader supporter.

Politicians have to earn our vote. Our vote is ours, and only ours. No one can make you vote for them. If Nader gets enough vote to affect the Election outcome, so be it. That just means that McCain, and Obama didn't earn enough votes to win.

Nader let the Trash win in 2000. Now he'll try and do it again. He is 100% GOP

No, he is not GOP, but he is a man on a mission. He wants to prove to Americans that they have a third way, through him. What he will mostly do is change (there's that word again) the conversation in the campaign. McCain, and Obama now have to answer to him as well as each other. He is smart, not as Liberal as Obama, and presents himself well. He is a force to reckon with. It is a free country. He is free to challange both party candidates.

Are you going to vote for him or are you just praying he filters enough votes from democrats to give McCain a chance? I think most American have had enough of Nader and like Perot will recieve less votes the second time.

He will fall flat on his face destroying whatever credibility he has left in his area of consumer advocacy. He gained 3% in 2000 then 0.3% in 2004, and with as many people as now understand that he will never will I would be suprised if he gains more than 0.05% this time around.

Soon it will be only Nader himself and his family who are willing to vote for him. There are better ways to make a point about something you care about than running for President over and over again. Just look at Al Gore and where he has gone since he lost in 2000. He has a point and he is making it and not destroying his reputation while doing it. Nader should take a lesson from Gore and get back to what he knows and does best.

The problem with independent presidential bids is that the person running is usually disaffected or has delusions of grandeur. All this does is syphon votes from one candidate or the other. Clinton got in because of Perot in '92. Some think that Nader cost the Democrats in 2000 and 2004.

Whereas both of them had and has, every right to run for office , I'd like to see them put their passion, money, effort and organizational skills to better use. I would love to see Perot, Nader, Bloomberg, Paul, Kucinich and others begin a 3rd party and work their way up from Sate and Local elections to Congress and ultimately the White House. If they really love this country as much as they claim this is a better way to show it. A 3rd party which is beholden to the citizens rather than special interests would take off like a moon shot. Do you want "change"? Well this would be real change.

There is no doubt in my opinion that Nader is doing this for financial gain. Whether he is getting paid by the GOP, or pocketing the campaign funds, he is doing it for the money.

He's smart enough to know he won't come close to winning!
