Posted By Radiofreeeuropa 7 months, 1 week ago in NewsIf anyone harbors illusions that the lame-duck CheneyBush Administration will taxi harmlessly to its departure gate in January, recent events suggest otherwise. LIBERAL MUMBO JUMBO.
Hey Radio, since you are so interested in meddling in US affairs by posting left wing, extremeist propoganda maybe you should learn a little about our government.
Last time I checked terms are indeed four years, not three and "dumbass liberals hate us so we will just step aside for the fourth".
The elected leader of the United States has 10 more months left and he can do WHATEVER HE FEELS IS RIGHT (within the law of course, and I dont mean the liberal "hate Bush" version of the law either). Hell, Bill Clinton spent his last months pardoning EVERY CRIMINAL HE COULD.

NoSpinDave:"LIBERAL MUMBO JUMBO."
Which part do you specifically disagree with? Calling it liberal mumbo jumbo is not very informative.
.
"he can do WHATEVER HE FEELS IS RIGHT (within the law of course"
It seemed to me that it is the "within the law" part that the article is questioning.

Bush has REPEATEDLY broken the law.
He has lied to Congress and to the American people about justification for war, about warrantless wiretapping, and about rendition.
Bush and his Republican cronies make a MOCKERY of our government. They don't give a rat's as* about the vast majority of the American people, and that INCLUDES the soldiers that have died or been maimed in his "war".

The republican party has said to forget about Bush, the election isn't about him. Yes I can see why they would say such a thing, without his record of destruction and malaise, corruption, and record cronyism, we would all be far better off. If the DOJ had not been filled with political yes men, he would be behind bars. More damage can be done and likely will by these thugs. Cheney Bush checklist:
1. Profit from wars, keep Iraq's oil off the market to drive profits up
2. Help cronys divert money into personal fortunes
3. Bankrupt the US economy
4. Secure Slave Labor
5. subvert that "go***mned piece of paper", the US Constitution.
6. turn the joint into jesusland
7. Make China very very rich
8. Destroy the checks and balances put forth by the founding fathers.
9. Turn the place into a corporatist fascist state
10. Annoy the entire world with pompous imperialism.

Hey Spin
"he can do WHATEVER HE FEELS IS RIGHT (within the law of course"
Bush was right about WMD in Iraq, right about wiretapping without court order, right about "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED", right about Hastert being the speaker of the House for the current 110th congress, right about the GOP holding a majority in the congress in 2006, etc.....
You're a blind, dangerous patriot. Extremist, self-righteous, patriotic ferver of the form that you spew day and night is what lead the Germans to kaos and mayhem during the 1940s, the United States to the abortion Vietnam in the 60s qnd 70s and the Iraq abortion today.
The dangerous patriot drifts into chauvinism exhibiting blind enthusiasm for military actions. The dangerous patriot is a defender of militarism and its ideals of war and glory. Chauvinism is a proud and bellicose form of patriotism equating the national honor with military victory.

Thank you. Gave you a positive vote for that ignoramus's response. I love it when New Repugnicans open their foul mouths and demonstrate that their vocal chords resonate over an open sewer.

And what are the facts about ETproductions that would lead you that conclusion? Or was that just an expletive that you use to put others in their place? How about "damn liberal"? Now that's really an expletive that people like you love to use. Shows how intelligent you really are.

RFE, I hear a lot of criticism about "rightwing fearmongering"...I'm curious why you post this kind of rhetoric when you otherwise condemn it.

Because you will DIE unless you sink this story.
Understand?
Only BoBO and LuvMyGnosis submissions can protect you from imminent death because they are the only ones who love this country sufficiently.
Claiming that this administration will continue to concentrate governmental power is a fact, not fear mongering.

Suggesting that people are likely to continue doing what they have been doing all along is hardly "fear mongering".

Suggesting that people are likel to continue what they have been doing all along is not fearmongering? Okay, makes sense.
So suggesting that terrorists will continue trying to harm America...since they already have, multiple times, and continue to say that they want to do so (badly)...how is that "fearmongering" then?

Rhetoric refers to speech. This article pertains to the past actions of this administration as a preclude to what the next 10 months have in store for us.

Sometimes, enough is enough! Bush and Cheney's lack of respect for human life, might not let them get through ten more months. If they did knowingly, do something that stupid, for they have done some stupid things. Maybe, they need to high tail it right now.

Let's see - criminal activity of the bush admin vs. lying to congress about a personal matter. As I said congress is ball-less. too bad really because many strict contructionalists want impeachment proceedings to begin. Why you might ask? Well it's about the Constitution and separation of powers. In other words allowing this administration to trample on the Constitution erodes our form of government. Whereas I don't think it is possible, a bigger criminal than Bush may come along who would look at Congress' capitulation to the Executive branch as precedent and aggrandize even more powers for himself(or herself for that matter). It has to do with the future of our country. Not the past. Got it now? Good - go have another beer.

Part of the problem with people is that they too critically judge that being a president is easy. For the job, the conflicts and issues that arose suddenly, which only one other president has had to deal with--an attack on our ground. Franklin D. Roosevelt responded with war, so did Bush. Roosevelt helped rid the world of Hitler, and Bush rid the world of equally racist, murdering, evil. If Clinton had defended us the first several times Osama attacked us, maybe we wouldn't have had to go into Iraq in the first place. Blame the intern-screwer.

You do know that FDR attacked those countries that actually attacked us or declared war on us. Note, Iraq did not attack us on 9-11, nor did they have any operational ties the Osama. Invading and occupying Iraq as a response to 9-11 could be the biggest strategic blunder in modern times. Also the(intern-screwer's as you so put it) administration gave Bush plenty of warning about the threat al Queda posed to this country. Bush chose to ignore the warning along with several other "Shot across the Bow" warnings like the PDJ titled "Bin Laden determined to strike in US".
Saddam was the leader of a broken down third world dump that had been bombed back to the stone age. He was in no way a world wide threat that can be compared to Hitler. Only people who are ignorant of history try and make that claim.

Well I'm sure Bush won't do anything like pardon all those gangsters (aka friends of the Clinton family) that Clinton did. And it's not likely Bush will try to initiate an orgy in the Oval office or try to jump on anything female in the WH. Relax, I'm sure most of U will get your tax refunds before year's end. I'm sure Bush will enjoy these last few months of making fools out of the democratically controlled Congress. Not that they need his help. Hee! Hee!

Oh he wouldn't pardon Scooter. Or Elliott Abrams AGAIN, just like his daddy did. Or Cap Weinberger AGAIN, just like his daddy did. Or how about that terrorist Orlando Bosch or Jose Carriles? Bush pardoned Duane R. Clarridge, Clair E. George and Alan G. Fiers Jr., all of whom had been indicted and/or convicted of charges by the Independent Counsel. He is also known to have given executive clemency to Aslam P. Adam, a convicted heroin dealer. Now Bobby boy and Elliot and Poindexter (actually I think that scum got off in a technicality and Casey croaked) Now those boys were traitors and W's daddy let 'em go.
Sounds like precedent to me.

The Crisis Papers is approaching its sixth year of internet publication. Our inaugural appearance was on November 2, 2002, two days before the Congressional election of that year.
In the five years that followed, my colleague Dr. Bernard Weiner and I have written almost three hundred original essays for the progressive internet, originating at The Crisis Papers and Democratic Underground; these in addition to dozens more that we wrote before we launched The Crisis Papers. Almost all of these essays have been severely critical of the Bush Administration, the Neo Conservatives, and the radical right.
