NOW, Nixon had his day, are you saying we would have been better off to have had Nixon be the 35th pres, rather than the 37th? Would he have been a more honest, ethical man as the 35th president then he was as the 37th, just asking?
Wasn't Nixon who as VP to Ike, that was involved in the planning of Operation Ajax, and the Bay of Pigs, only JFK inherited this when he became Pres?

I love these blogs... how was Nixon a crook? He gave us the EPA... The Watergate mess was Nixon protecting the break in planners... you have to respect a man that doesn't roll over on his friends...that break in was to get proof that the Democrats had hired prostitutes for the convention.

I never thought I'd actually say something positive for Nixon, but times were different then. Some people have made the point that Nixon bacame paranoid after his experiences with the press in the 1952 election.
As it turns out, Mrs. Chevydog's family shared a house with the Nixon family in 1949. I am told that he was a perfectly normal and even gracious person. I have no particular reason to disbelieve this.

There is no reason on the planet why someone who is NOT a liberal should support an issue because its "conservative".
I have never been a liberal and I have never been a conservative.
There are other points of view though the US dismally fails to be able to think in any other mode than to draw a line in the sand and imagine that everyone should declare themselves on one side or the other of this artificial, arbitrary, imaginary line. I don't do that and where I live we don't do that.
Andrew Sullivan was a Bush apologist for years, saw the light not so long ago, and now has jumped on the Obama bandwagon. Writing yet another hit piece on the Clintons is second nature for him. I do agree with your first observation, but I suspect a substantial fraction of the Clinton haters are nouveau or temporary Democrats solely to support their New American Idol.

The Clinton "horror" will not go on forever. In fact, that terrible Clinton balanced budget and paid-off Reagan era national debt was erased by the Great Decider, The Shrub, Dumbya, the Chimpster.
More fortunately, the Bush horror/nightmare WILL end in less than a year. However, his wonderful, budget busting, war in Iraq will linger. His 10 trillion national debt will also be around for another 10 or 20 years.
That being said, do we really need another 8 years of clintons? Clintons balancing the budget included putting the social security account into the general fund to make it seem as though he was balancing the budget.
Of course we don't!
But do we want to listen to another load of same-old same-old? The refrain, then the chorus, then the refrain again which passes for political discussion amongst some of our brothers and sisters.
