"According to two separate reports, Romney is being talked up as a running mate by members of the Bush inner circle. But McCain and his closest advisers have little regard for their former rival thanks to the bitter, year-long race waged between the two Republicans.

I'd rather work for the military commanders than the civil servants. They were usually inefficient and didn't have the expertise. They were always bogged down with a bunch of government regulations and spent frivously. I remember the government office I worked for had to spend the money they had before the fiscal year so they bought everyone new computers whether they needed one or not. Even the janitor's closet had a brand new 3000 dollar computer in it. The Janitor remarked, "I don't even know how to use the damn thing". BTW, I was criticizing McCain. You saw fit to criticize me first. I gave it back to you.

Actually, a lack of regulation and administrative ability plagued the military early in the Iraq War. I had army officer friends who told me about young lieutenants being given suitcases full of money and being told to complete construction projects. Proper budgeting and expenditure schedules would have eliminated the budget situation you described. As for your appraisal of McCain, he's a combat veteran and you aren't.

It is amazing to me on how much the politicians have CHANGED. Take McCain for example. He appears to have done a 180º turn around. A good example is the Dream Act (McCain/Kennedy) from last summer. Perhaps you recall it? The bill was going to give complete amnesty to 12-20 million illegal immigrants in this country. Yes, it is the same bill Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama voted FOR. But never fear they have seen the light! They now feel we need strict immigration reform and a border fence! At least that is how they feel druing the primary and before they get into office. After one of them win, they will do what is good for themselves.
