"If there is a crisis in the world and the telephone rings at 3 a.m. in the White House, who would you feel more secure answering that phone Hillary Clinton or John McCain?

Hillary Clinton

37%

John McCain

55%

Not sure

9%

Between McCain and Obama, 56% favored McCain while 35% preferred Obama, with 10% saying they couldnt make up their mind on the question."

the only 3 am call I would ever be comfortable about Hillary answering is the one asking her to come down to the station to bail out her husband after he and Spitzer were arrested together in a police raid on the DC Madams brothel

Unfortunately for McCain, this is the only area in which he polls higher than Clinton and Obama. On domestic issues, particularly the economy--which appears to be the most important issue according to recent exit polls--McCain himself admits that he falls short.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/st...

"Obama also leads McCain on four of the six top issues in the poll: health care, immigration, ethics in government and voters' No. 1 concern, the economy."

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/14/opinion/14kru...

"John McCain's admission that economics isn't his thing. 'The issue of economics is not something I've understood as well as I should,' McCain says. 'I've got Greenspan's book.'"

But I must applaud your attempts to cherry-pick the single issue on which McCain leads in polls while conveniently ignoring the majority of other issues in which he trails. LOL

you know what they say about polls ......everyone has one........

"according to recent exit polls"

"These views are closely related to voters' choices: McCain does poorly against Clinton and Obama among those who disapprove of the president and those opposing the war."

Wow really who woulda thunk it!

Eighty percent of those putting a priority on change opt for Obama, while 68 percent of those favoring a steady hand go for McCain.

Wow really who woulda thunk it!

This poll was done BEFORE March 6th. Any newer polls after the FL, MI Dem delegates being "disenfranchised" CF by the DNC?

And the antics tried by Clinton to steal those Delegates? After the none explanation of what a "superdelegate" is and why their vote counts for 10K each, compared to your 1 vote.

After the Obama pastor disaster?

Exit polls are done as people leave an election polling place after an election.

Were these polls done in Red states or Blue states?

John McCain's noodle is missing some strudel! I would NEVER trust this Rambo wannabe with the safety and security of the country! He's too hot-headed and a puppet of the Bush crime family. Somewhere down the line, he sold out to them, so as far as I'm concerned, he's lost out!

A President is "Commander-in-Chief", not Chief Economist. Also, economic decisions do not have to be made in the blink of an eye and will be filtered through the House and Senate; a crisis of necessity must be handled in a moment. On this issue alone, McCain will win. Go on Rasmussen and look at state polling trends in battlegrounds like Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Florida and see for yourself.

Which U.S. crisis has been handled by a president in a moment? Cuban Missle Crisis...no. 9/11...no. Bombing of Pearl Harbor...no. Katrina...no. Etc., etc., etc. Name me one. Simplemente una, por favor.

"A President is "Commander-in-Chief", not Chief Economist"

You're deluding yourself if you believe the President's influence and power are limited solely to self-defense. Even you can't deny that Bush, along with the 109th Republican-controlled Congress were responsible for driving up the national debt to record levels, oversaw the fall of the dollar, and created the regional instability that has allowed the price of oil to skyrocket.

JOSE:

"On this issue alone, McCain will win."

So much for McCain's foreign policy experience:

http://politics.propeller.com/story/2008/03/18/...

"McCain made a gaffe Tuesday when he said several times that Iran, which is mostly a Shiite country, was training the predominantly Sunni militant group al Qaeda. Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Connecticut, whispered in his ear. Moments later, McCain responded, 'I'm sorry, the Iranians are training extremists, not al Qaeda. I am sorry.'"

Bad news, INJEST. This November either a Democrat (Clinton/Obama) or a liberal RINO is going to win.

Haven't you realized it yet? You neocons have ALREADY lost.

LOL

http://blogs.usatoday.com/onpolitics/2008/03/us...

"If the election were held today Hillary Clinton would get 51% of the vote to John McCain's 46%, the latest USA TODAY/Gallup Poll estimates. Obama comes out ahead 49%-47% over McCain."

http://www.newsweek.com/id/119953/page/1

"In a test election, there Obama beat McCain 46% to 45%, and Clinton triumphed 48% to 46%."

From the CONSERVATIVE Wall Street Journal:

http://online.wsj.com/public/resources/document...

"If the election were today, for whom would you vote."

John McCain: 44%

Barack Obama: 47%

John McCain: 45%

Hillary Clinton: 47%

"If [blank] were to win, would this be acceptable to you?"

Obama: 39% totally acceptable

Clinton: 35% totally acceptable

McCain: 26% totally acceptable

McCain polls higher at 3am because at his age, he is already getting up at that time.

Now if you take a poll for a 8pm call, that`s a completely different ball game.

this is a joke, right? mccain? please. I think the phone will be answered by an automatic answering service where you'll need to push (1) for english. mccain is pro amnesty.

looks like another contrived victory for the GOP.

obama will be the fall guy. I'm wondering when bloomberg will jump into this extremely corrupt candidacy. this is all show folks. and if we sit back and let it happen, then who are we really other than a flock of sheep.

mccain has no business as the presumed GOP nominee. nor is clinton or obama deserving of the position of the dem. nominee.

the 3 most distinguished and deserving candidates were shut out from the get go. they are: Ron Paul, Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel.

it's all a show. I don't believe or trust one aspect of this race. i'm amazed if no one else is capable of seeing this corruption unfold.

The thing is, If you were making the call to Hillary or Obama, at least you wouldn't have to worry that your phone conversation was being recorded. ;-x

but, you'll still be pushing (1) for english. mccain, obam and clinton are all pro-amnesty!

between the invasion of illegal aliens and the Iraq war, our country is bankrupt.

the dollar is being devalued on purpose to introduce the amero.

--Then you might consider learning another language (the way educated people in most industrialized nations do). Given that Bush has ground our military down to dust and bankrupted us for multiple generations to come, it's probably a good idea for us to start thinking of ways to get back into the good graces of the rest of the international community. We've got a lotta work to do so break the seal on that box of Spanish language tapes you got for xmas. Time's a wasting. Hasta luego. ;-)

And what language do educated people in other countries learn?

If you want to be an Airline pilot or work in air traffic control anywhere in he world what language must you be able to speak?

--Wow...Typical of small-minded, nationalistic neocons (who want to save the world by forcing their way of life on everyone else), someone mentions education and your narrow minds immediately drift to commerce. Shocking as this may sound to you, there are actually benefits to education that have nothing whatsoever to do with turning a buck, injest.

In any event, for the reasons I mentioned above (among others), America isn't going to be the most powerful country in the world for much longer (thanks, in large part to Bush and the GOP). While you obsessed over Bill Clinton's stogie and gay marriage, the rest of the world surged ahead. Like I said, bone up on your Spanish. You break it, you bought it...

this corruption spans all party lines. I said above and repeat here, ron paul, dennis k. and mike gravel were the most trustworthy and capable of the bunch.

now, we are stuck with 3 corrupt baffoons.

sorry, folks.

first it was the invasion of illegals, nafta, the iraq war, next iran...they're all in on it. we are nearing a depression. prepare.

Can't say about Obama but with Hillary you are correct you wouldn't have to worry, rest assured your call is being recorded. If you work for her all your personal calls will be recorded.

Do you recall the 900 Personal raw FBI files she had?

Look up Craig Livingstone

This story is just plain silly. Whomever was president, they would be the last person to be notified that there was something going on. The first would be one of the agents from the NSA, CIA, or other intelligent services, then the chief of staff, and then if whomever thought it demanded immediate attention, the president.

How many times does it take to get it through the heads that this is just plain silly.

And knowing the dipstick flights of fancy and anger, he'd be the very last person allowed anywhere near the "Football". For those who don't know what the "Football" is, it's the nuclear codes carried by a military person that is never more than a minute away from the President.

And if you'll check out the story

I agree, the President would not be the first to get notified. So what does this tell us about Hillary Clinton, who proposed this "silly" question?

About her knowledge and experience in the Whitehouse?

Speaks volumes doesn't it.

I see the big neg-er is back. Guess it doesn't pay to try and educate some people.

avatar

This is silly, with all the advisers the president has I can't see where any of these guys having an advantage in this regards. If bush has listen to Colin we wouldn't be in this war, so it's about commonsense and I think that all of the candidates are way ahead on George where that is concerned and he has been president for 8 years.

This point holds as much water as a Knitted basket.

avatar
Reply

McCain might just be the best for that call as most likely he'll be up tinkling at that hour.

avatar
Reply

It's 3 a.m. Who do you want answering the phone?

Someone who knows what the military can and can not do concerning the reason for the call.

A disaster like Katrina we need someone who knows what assets are available and how to deploy them. Someone who knows that ship traveling at 25 knots will take X time to get to point "A", someone who I don't have to explain what a knot "IS".

Someone who understands the military, what is air power and how to use it.

One who knows how ground troops are organized and deployed, so as not be confused tween light infantry (platoons) and heavy armor.

Someone who knows how Americas 911 (USMC) is deployed on normal cruises westpacs and such.

My guess would be someone who has belonged to the Navy, NavAir even better.

This person would not need OJT.

So who running fits that description?

avatar
Reply

And let me add

Someone whose OWN children are in the military or have served in the military.

Someone who understands the FULL scope of his or her decision.

avatar
Reply

None of the candidates have ALL of these areas covered!

avatar
Reply

Try again Cushi

"I think he'd prefer the family kind of stayed private," said Doug McCain, who at 48 is John McCain's oldest child, one of his four sons, and a pilot for American Airlines. "I just think he is a big believer in individuals doing their own thing."

Although his youngest sons are in the military - Jack, 21, attends the US Naval Academy and Jimmy, 19, is a Marine stationed in Iraq - John McCain is loath to invoke their names when he defends his foreign policy positions, even once when Jimmy was sitting in the audience before deployment.

avatar
Reply

Might as well add someone whose father and grandfather were officers in the military, preferably General or Admiral in rank. lol

avatar
Reply

--But wingjobs only seem to respect military experience when the opinions being expressed are pro war so I'm afraid your argument doesn't carry a lot of weight. ;-(

avatar

So he wouldn't even need a staff, right? Hey, that should save us some money.

avatar
Reply

"Someone who knows what the military can and can not do concerning the reason for the call."

--Um, but wasn't McCain definitively *against* waterboarding *before* he decided to run for office (and now he's just not quite sure how he feels about it)? Sounds like his decision making process is questionable, at best. I mean, what would cons do if he got elected and then flip flops the other way (again)?Don't you want to know you have a President who can torture on your behalf while he's spreading democracy? ;-(
