Old "Fogey of War" McCain

Politics – We already know McCain is too busy campaigning on his "foreign policy experience" to support our troops, but last night on "Real Time with Bill Maher," Maher took McCain to task for not only doing our troops wrong but for also being just like Bush "who is dumb about war."

McCain going overseas for a photo op of his foreign policy strength did the democratic nominee a huge favor. He looked like a fool, and absolutely blew it.

Maher's comments were more truth than comedy. Or maybe the truth is comedy.

I think Bill has it right...the people who hate us or don't like us in this world don't hate us for our freedoms, they hate us for fiefdom. We go in when we shouldn't, don't know enough about the people we're occupying, and, like some visiting friends and relatives, don't know when to leave.

We're the policeman of the world when we should be part of this world. When people says "someone has to", then let's take turns with other countries. But, since our trust in others is so low, and since we think we're better than others, that will never happen.

well if we stop being policeman

the big dough stops rolling in to our

military industrial complex.

It is all about the money. Plenty of Cons have made plenty of cash in these past 8 years.

The poor cons..and baby are they being conned on the abortion, I hate gay people and give me my guns issue...are suffering big time.

The poor cons aren't being conned. They Know the score they just won't sacrifice morals for MONEY! For if you do you eventually will have neither! As far as "fogy" McCain at least he is mature NEED I SAY MORE!!!!!!!!!1

Gravel: If we continue with American imperialism, we're done as a nation. Truly are. And two things coming at us. We're going to be irrelevant in the world. You see this in foreign affairs when you see all these other countries making arrangements by themselves; don't even invite us to the meeting. Why? We come to a meeting; we think we know it all. We're the superpowerâ;;you've got to listen to us.

Bill Maher is a jerk!

avatar
Reply

Hairyputter is a good neoncon - he's repeating what his talk radio show hosts have been saying - I should say yelling - I was listening a little to bit to some of the right wing talk radio - and this guy was just yelling "What a liberal jerk!" regarding Bill Maher. You have listened and parroted well hairyputter.

avatar
Reply

I agree Maher is a jerk but so is that dipshit Oreilly.

But it is agreed we need to leave Iraq asap.

No matter who says it.

I just feel bad that folks who have no medical coverage are still signing up to go to Iraq.

That leads one to believe that all things serve the needs of the few at the expense of the many.

avatar
Reply

serving the few... isn't that what good government is supposed to prevent? Excuse me, in a repug world helping more then the few is called sociolism!

I would observe that foreign policy is new to almost every president we elect. In my lifetime, Eisenhower and Nixon had some; maybe Bush I. Everyone else was pathetically unprepared.

avatar
Reply

Unprepared is one thing, but ignorance is no excuse.

avatar
Reply

Is there really a diffference between unprepared and ignorant?

From Josh Billings (I think): "It's not what a man don't know that makes him ignorant. It's what he knows that ain't so."

IMHO, Mr. Bush is an intellectual featherweight who's worked very hard to get and stay that way. I see McCain in a little different light, as one who might be able and willing to learn. Not perhaps the be-all and end-all, but suitable. Certainly don't see him as a warmonger. Tend to think that his personal experince would make him less so than average. Among the Dems, only Hillary can make a halfway palusible claim to any foreign policy background. So as usually is the case we'll end up with a Pres who has to learn on the job. The best we can hope for is intellectual flexibility.

Reading the 1959 Lederer book, The Ugly American, should be manditory for anyone in the federal government!

Cheney has experience and look how he still lies about Sadam's WMD and Al Qaeda links! We need integrity restored to the governemt and the fairness Doctrine that Repugs fight would surely be a step in the right direction!

Dems need to also be willing to impeach elected officials who lie and commit US forces to needless wars. Only Repug led congresses have tried to impeach in our history.

avatar
Reply

Final note: a pres doesn't have to have foreign experience as long as he surrounds himself with good experienced people and actually listens to them before making a critical decision. Remember that Dumya takes his guidance from a higher source... he just needs some one to tell him where Kosovo is! Condi's failure to think a brief titled "OBL Determined to Attack Inside the USA" actually required some followup!

So, after eight years of puerile phantasizing about War and

"protecting America against terrorism", eight years of indiference to our economic strength, and eight years of gnawing at the fundamentals of our Constitution, we are to rejoice in another four years of muddling along the GOP- Gospel of "strength by bullying" and "trickle-down economics" under the adept (!) guidance of an aged "warrior", whose approaching senility is masked by snickering malapropisms and a nervous ocular tic?

Weep for America!

You really belittle yourself when you attack the poster on spelling and not the substance of his words.

Sadly charlson that's all they got! Make fun of someone for not using spell check (or questioning if the word is appropriate) - or change the subject - or call us haters for not supporting this fiasco of a war mongering old fart.

Charlson, that is typical John, another person in denial of reality!

He used the word he wanted. The exclamation point following the word "adept" shows that it is sarcasm. Did I get that right, Donald51?

Americans might as well get used to the fact that this country will never not be at war again. McCain obviously has been chosen by those who control the government because he will push the bush agenda of total war and occupation. The question is, where will they go after they conquer the Middle East? I imagine they will wait for McCain to take office before orchestrating another 9/11 to kick off an attack on Iran. Should be a good time. At least I'll be able to say I didn't vote for the dumba$s.

avatar
Reply

Conquer the Middle East? No way, if you think McCain is any more competent than Bush. Hell, Bush stomped him in his bid for the presidency and he whimpered like a lap dog and licked Bush's a$$.

avatar

why we need to vote the RNC for what it is - a terrorist organization in America!

"...after they conquer the Middle East".

When is that going to start? To me the word "conquer" implies victory.

McCain, an expert on foreign policy? He thought Putin was President of Germany. Nuff said.

Here is something I bet you didn't know about McCain, he will beat Obama in November by 10 points. Stupid Democrats thought Republicans wanted to run against Hillary, no. They want to run against the Black Nationalist sympathizer. Happy Days are here again, da, da, da da, da, da da, da, da.

are you happy we have now killed 4,000 american soldiers?

are you happy gas is now almost $4 a gallon?

are you happy that home foreclosures are at record rates?

are you happy that the cost of bread & milk had almost tripled in a year?

are you happy?

please what makes you thus?

anyone I know...yeah even right wing wacko republicans are not happy.

Please explain why such misery would make someone so happy?

Sorry to inform you but you are not rooting for a ballgame here. You are rooting for the death and destruction of America and I find that reprehensible.

Funny ani, last month when Obama was beating McCain by 10 points in the polls, polls were meaningless but now they are useful? Well, be sure to check out the latest Gallup polls that show McCain's lead, after the Rev. Wright smear, is evaporating from 10 down to 2 points.

McCain is no expert on anything - just towing the GWB&Co. line of war, more war, and then some more war. There is another piece submitted about how the media is giving McCain a free pass and this and that submission proves that. On the other submission Hume gives McCain a free pass saying his remarks were a "blip", a "senior moment". If these are blips and senior moments - they are just the tip of the iceberg. This old fart doesn't have a clue (just like the current resident) and Rove and Cheney will be pulling his strings. He is a rabid war monger.

AlphaG has been training you well, you bitter woman aniokly. Singing Happy Days are here again you nasty old war mongering McCain cheerleader. You were throwing him to the wolves aniokly not too long ago. Now you are one of his cheerleaders? No surprise - the republicons eat their young. Aniokly will be voting for McCain the war monger 'cause she's an old fogey also, crotchety just like McCain. I don't want your crochety old war monger in office aniokly - he also and he likes to screw around on his wife, and has tons of skeletons in his closet that have been brought to life - how could you stand for that aniokly?

That was before I discovered Sen McCain has an 83% American Conservative Union rating. Hillary's is 9%, and Obama's is zero. He is the most liberal Senator in the U S Senate. You have to learn to adjust to reality. Sen McCain is the best choice of the three current ontenders.

And you going around repeatedly spreading lies about the other guy is helping your new found saviour how?

Since the economy is at the forefront...why don't you tell me why McCain would be better than Obama.

If you're having trouble finding anything about McCains knowledge of economics...see my above link.

You see ani...you prove Tessy's assertion that smear is all you have,I ask you a legitimate straightforward question...and all I hear is crickets.

She is quite happy (aniokly) mamasan because she will not live to see the end results of GWB&Co. and McCain's disastrous foreign policies (or should I say lack of foreign policies - their only policy is to bomb the hell out of whoever in order to obtain their oil). She is happy because her children and her grandchildren will be paying the costs of these ill-conceived wars, not her. Remember when Shotgun Dick was saying years ago why not to invade Iraq? They invaded anyway for the oil and nothing else. She is happy as AlphaG is when they think we have been disproven once and for all - that the Iraq war was justified - in their eyes - they were throwing McCain (aniokly especially) to the wolves recently. He is their only hope! That's what's sad! You say abntv that conservatives are flexible?!? If you're talking about true conservatives I might agree with you but if you are talking about the current batch of thieves (republicans in name only), I disagree!

I dont know the crabs age but I would say that in 1 years time, we will all be in deep doo doo.

But as far as her future generations go, if the fed does not bail out the industry, we will see homes fall by 50% all across the board and that will be good. If you still have any money to buy a house after you have lost your job, as many will and are.And if there are still loans at reasonable rates.

It is all a house of cards.

All this was done to fund this war and line the Bush & Co pockets. They have had their 8 years of party time, now lets get the big boys in there to clean up their mess.

the trickle down from this thing is gonna be nasty, so crablegs wont be singing her sassy song for too long.

Her spawn will suffer if they are upper middle class on down. Who isnt hurt by triple the cost of food?

avatar
Reply

I know mamasan - they refuse to see what is at the end of the tunnel and when all the chickens come home to roost - so to speak. I agree with you mama - all that has been done to fund this misadventure - will be coming back to bite us all in the ass soon - and GWB&Co will be off to Paraguay and Dubai and laughing at all of us morons. "If you still have any money to buy a house after you have lost your job, as many will and are and if there are still loans at reasonable rates" - this is true as well - but the lenders are not going to be lending out as much in the near future even to those with good credit and those who are good credit risks. All of GWB&Co. will have their pockets lined very nicely and their war machine is cranked up well. When will it end? When their are no more Iraqis I imagine. To attack a soverign nation who DID NOT attack us - how can they get away with this?
