The Republican party will never die!!
Well, I guess they DID KINDA die.
Newt Gingrich led that REPUBLICAN REVOLUTION..
You know, a Revolution is a rebirthin of somethin. You kill what was and RE-INVENT somethin.
And Newt reinvented the Republicans along the lines of whats come to be knowed as NEO-CONSERVATISM.
Its a highly politicized, uncompromisin, unwaverin ideeologie, the lieks of which we aint seen in 50 years!!
Unfortunately, it turns out this ideelogie is not only bad for our nation, its kinda bad for the planet - and so - ipso facto - its yet another ideeologie that, as Ronald Reagan stated about Communism - 'an ideeologie destined for the ASH CAN OF HISTORY.'.
That Ronnie - he had a way to put things in perspective.

Et, don't forget the repugs have to reassert American values too: no torture, no Gitmo, no more preemptive wars, restoration of habeas corpus to detainess, no eavesdropping on Americans without a warrant, no more signing statements to avoid the law, and give up those files and testimonials requested by the Congress!
Also a justice department that stops stonewalling the reported contractor fraud, abuse and rapes out of Iraq and Afghanistan! Also rescind the go after Dems only guidance to the DOJ!

Locky, I bet you get a kick out of Faux Fox Facts repeatedly naming indicted/convicted repugs as Dems on Fox News!
You hypocrite, how easy to forget theat 18 of 22 worst Congressmen are still repugs (goggle CREW you fool)!
Yes, the only party with convictions at the presidential cabinet level in three different administrations: watergate, Iran Contra and now Plamegate - the Repugs, the true terrorist party of America!

I've said it before and I'll say it again: The uneasy coalition of greedy bastards, warmongers, and Christianist nutballs is falling apart. If they cannot hold those sometimes disparate groups together, the Republicans cannot win.
As for the Democrats: I only hope that progressive Democrats outnumber the DLC/ corporatist types in the next Congress so we can have hope some actual progressive change....not to mention an end to this ill-conceived war. That is what I pray for.

I agree with engineer they brought this upon themselves. Their coalition of extreme views (PNAC can't be called anything but that) is coming unwound as each group seems to want to further its own extreme view over the others.

On the contrary...it's a long way to November.
As of now, the only way Hillary Clinton can win the Democratic nomination is if the superdelegates push her over the top. That is not going to happen (But I know this is a wet dream for you righties, since the resulting chasm in the Democratic Party would hand the Republicans a victory...all with only lukewarm support for your candidate, John McCain. How brilliant! Huh?).
No, the more likely outcome will be that Barack Obama will emerge as the Democratic nominee. His acceptance speech will breath new energy into the Democratic Party and will make his 2004 keynote address seem like just a warm up. In the end, the Democrats will be unified.
And do you REALLY think that old fossil McCain really stands a chance against a young, vetted Obama?
If so, you keep dreamin'....

We'll see, Scott. I want Obama to eliminate Hillary from the race; she scares me more than he does.
Then, if Obama wins in November, so be it. We're not electing a dictator and since everything in DC gets talked to death (except benefits they vote for themselves), some of his more liberal ideas may get stopped.
If he can somehow make health insurance more affordable, I'm all for it. A young family of 4 should not be having to pay $1300 per month for insurance. I know several who are.
I don't want universal health-care in any form. I also don't want the capital gains rate raised.

...yah, the grand ol' party from the civil war that tried to impeach Johnson for firing his war secretary and had American Indians declared un-american and dependant in 1873 so big sole source, unaudited contracts could be given then too! The grand ol' party that put all those carpetbaggers in the south too! the grand ol' party that gave us the great depression... and now the recession and endless war of 2008!

There isn't a republicon party around here. They don't even bother to enter a candidate in many elections. Pat Tillman came from one of those districts. It's interesting to hear people talk about issues and what to do about things rather than mudslinging. When 70% of the people in this country disagree with you they aren't too likely to give you money. The republicon party is on its way to becoming a regional, not a national, political party.

Please CANCEL the Republican party. (really, if John McCain is the BEST they can do. And considering that they HAD a REAL Republican [Ron Paul] and ignored him.) Let's get a NEW party started up that has a damned CLUE what this country is about. OTHER than oil and military contracts, I mean.
My bad - I shouldn't say "had" a real Republican. Ron Paul is still in the race and COULD be salvaged as a candidate if enough people would just work at it hard enough.

Ron Paul came from the Libertarian party and they are still around. You might consider the Constitution party: http://www.constitutionparty.com/ You other option is to take Michelle Malkin's advice and get involved with GOP politics at the local level. Shape this party the way you want it to look. http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=24912...

I am -almost- a libertarian. Pretty close. But I'm not (yet) for COMPLETELY shutting down the gub'mint. A lot of it has gotten out of hand, but all things considered, I'm thinking we actually DO need SOME regulation of banks and the likes. We've recently seen what happens when they are let run wild.

I love this blog, Neo Con is actually a term coined by the blubbering, spitting Chris Mathews and the lefts attempt to label conservatives with a name that invokes a negative tone. Newt Gingrich did lead a revolution and the only way to win is in the defeat of your enemies in this case you left wing morons. Before you know it this country will have lost it's independence and will be a socialist society with laws that protect those who can by politicians, like the Chinese bought the Clinton's, and oppresses those who worship their leaders. Be careful what you wish for people it's coming.

Yes, Dumya has absolutely shown Newt's Contract With America to be a pack of lies! Every Congressional Repug lock step with Dumya for 6 years means they are all Un-American, greedy, unscrupulous (party over the rule of law and conscience) bast-ards! Thom, so are you!

This was a God send after the string about Hillary backers thinking the Democratic nomination should be decided based on the Electoral College.
I think this is just another nail in the coffin of the Republicans chance of staying in the White House in 301 days (January 20, 2009).

Admittedly it's going to be tough for the Republicans to remain in office (the White House), but Hillary and Obama is doing all they can to insure Republican victory. Isn't that a hoot? There should be a Democratic landslide next November with all the money they've raised but it will still probably be a close race.

Obama would be fine with me if he would just vote according to the constitution, somehow i don't think its gonna happen though... McCain is all f-d up.
I used to be a registered democrat before this goddamn Ron Paul guy came along, ever since i can't go back to my ignorant ways i can't even watch news anymore, (its all artificial) he made me realize how screwed up this whole system is.
