    Successful in what failed respect? To ignore a brief titled "OBL determined to attack inside the USA".... to advise war in Iraq and to lie about those overseas prisons... and to let down with her support to the surge! She is failing the Israel-Palestinian talks too! What an utterly failed advisor! She should be rotting in a jail, guilty of crimes gainst humanity!

      Remember when she stood there, Bush just off to her side, and stated with a straight face that no one could have possibly known or imagined that terrorists would hijack US airplanes and fly them into buildings.

      Not only was she and the prez warned about an imminent attack on American soil probably including plane hijacking, but this very scenario has been the in the realm of both imagination (popular suspense novels of early 90`s) reality (1985 bust of Phillipino terror plot to hijack and fly plane into ground).

            If I'm foolish, I'd love to know how? I'd love to know when it became perfectly fine to violate the constitution? This is treason. The only legal wayt to change the constitution, or ignore parts of it is to amend it. Maybe this isn''t enough of a high crime. How about:

            Violation of international treaties?

            Torture?

            Waging war for revenge/agression/oil?

            Lying to the American public and congress to authorize war.

            Suspension of Habeus Corpus?

            Illegal wiretapping?

      I laugh when usual left leaners' on this blog talk about liars. When their house is overflowing with them.

      With that out of the way; I don't think Condi has done strong enough job in the position she's in to warrant the VP nod. She's a very smart and very nice lady, but VP material? Who knows maybe she could handle it but the odds aren't in her favor.

      Besides, when asked about it, McCain says nice things and say the ultimate phrase that indicates that she won't be asked. "She's a Great American",,, he says it over and over, that is a line used to be gracious and say sorry, I'm looking elsewhere.

      I don't think any "Cons" have said that women are voting for Hillary because she is a woman.

      However, according to exit polls it is a fact that Hillary IS winning over 60% of the female vote while Obama is winning over 90% of the black vote.

        The danger with Obama playing the race card is simple. Only 12-13% of the entire population is black. If they pull "vote for me because I'm black", that would be a mistake. I think that's why Mr. Obama has avoided that.

        As for Hillary or Barack, I still can't believe either are the best from their party. A do nothing Senator verses a do nothing Senator who was married to a past president. Both sides stink. It's like watching a bad cell phone commercial where they admit all cell coverage sucks but ours doesn't suck as bad as the other guys. What ever happened to the Washington's, Lincoln's, Eisenhower's, JFK's or Reagan's. People who loved their country and would do anything for it.We have two cheese eating surrender monkeys and a washed up pilot from the navy. No offense but is this really the best we have to offer? When does the punchline come?

          I tend towards fiscal conservatism and social liberalism. Though I don't always vote Democratic, I often do. I hate to say it but I'm in agreement with you concerning Obama and Hillary. While they are decent enough senators they will never measure up to JFK, Reagan, Eisenhower, FDR, et cetera. What it often comes down to in life, especially in America, is that you choose the better of two (or three) evils.

  As a Democrat I hope that McCain DOES choose Rice as a VP. Since no matter how much McCain says he's NOT running for a Bush 3rd term everything he does contradicts that assertion. Having the 2nd most influential person in the Bush Administration as a running will simply seal the deal.

    How can you libs think you're soooo smart yet miss some very important things. This wouldn't be a third term for Bush. McCain and Bush really hate each other. Have you missed the last 8 years or so. When the camera is on, they play nice. When it's off, so are the gloves. Perhaps the media doesn't want this made known in order to help Barack or Hillary, I don't know what the media is thinking sometimes.

    As to the most influential person, you again don't know McCain. He's his own person and rarely listens, especially to guys like Bush 43.

    Rice would be my choice. She follows the policies of the President, as anyone working in the cabinet should do. As to a report on Bin Laden, that report also lead to the suggested spying on cell phone calls from the USA to suspected foreign based terrorists without warrants. That's the one my senator Foolsgold talks of ending.

    I've met Condi, heard her talk and she's brilliant. I would rather see her as President.

      I too would have thought Condi was brilliant as a young woman. However, I am very sad that her tenure in the Bush administration has tarnished her brilliance with a very deep layer of incompetence.

        Where to begin? First,I'm too cheap for cable so all I get are the standard ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS. We have Fox but only local. All are extremely slanted towards the left and are in love with Barack.

        As to policies, I don't trust John nor his policies. He has a long track record of saying one thing and voting in the other direction, McCain Foolsgold.

        On Russ, he's a piece of garbage. The report sighted recommended monitoring communications between suspected terrorists and contacts here in the USA. It didn't clearly outline the warrentless taps however, it was clearly implied because the suspected foreign terrorists were just that foreign. In times of war, warrants are not required. That's the real direction of the memo. As to Condi, again she was NSA not FBI.

        Foolsgold is your typical liberal lefty. He wants all of the protections of a police state without giving law enforcement any of the tools.

          And while we're on the topic Foolsgold is a big fat liar too. When he first ran, I liked him. He promised to run for two terms, that was several terms ago. He promised not to take money from other states, relying solely on local support, that ended the first term. He promised fiscal responsibility, yet has never voted down a tax increase. He's really not been helpful to Wisconsin, outside of voting against Wisconsin business and worse still our farmers. The only reason he's been able to keep his seat is that the media here is owned by the DNC.

              Love, it's clear you're not reading all of my postings but that's okay, for me it's been a long day. First, "a war on two fronts". Well, this isn't really a war. If it was, there would be far less people left here. You would have been drafted. At best, we're playing police action. Just as deadly for the individual soldiers but not near as deadly for the military.

              You whine about costs, okay lets look at real costs. This war is costing us about 3% of our GDP. While a huge number, what did you spend today for health care costs for the illegal aliens to have their anchor babies today? It was just over $ 4.1 million. That doesn't include the housing, feeding, educating and the like we will now provide to the entire family. Thats just the start. We're trying to form a democracy in a nation that was ruled by an evil dude. So you're telling be freeing a nation is bad but keeping a dictator is good? Then take your Free Tibet sticker off your mommy's car.

                Since the war is costing $720 a day (according to a Sept 21, 2007 article in the Washington Post) that means that your 'health care' amounts to .015% of our GDP (4.1 divided by 720 equals 5.69 X 10^-5) I think that's right.

                Of course your $4 millions number is LESS THEN 1% of the INTEREST paid in 1 hour on the debt that this President has incurred because (unlike any other time in history) this MBA President not only didn't raise taxes (which EVERY wartime President has) he CUT TAXES.

    If you can't look at her record and see what an amazing woman she truly is, you're either slow witted & hate a smart woman or are as racist and sexist as the who shave their heads and wear the white ropes. Then again, the DNC was the party of the Klan for over 100 years.

    Spend time reading her papers, listen to her speak, see the things she and her family lived through. It's shocking someone with her skills and intellect would waste time working for the government. As a people, we're lucky to have her on our side.

      Other than calling me names, why don't you present evidence of some of her accomplishments?

      She lied about WMD to promote the president's cause and she dropped the ball on 9/11. Tenet and Cofer Black said that when they met with Rice on 7/11/2001 to warn her of the growing threat that they did everything they could but hold a gun to her head and what did Connie Rice do? Nothing. BTW this meeting with Tenet and Black that she conveniently omitted from her sworn testimony to the Kean Commission.

      As for calling me a racist, do you plan on voting for Obama?

        No. Because he doesn't display a fraction of the intelligence, the sophistication, the intellect or the steely reserve that she has shown for 7 years - all qualities that are a requirement for being president. He also lacks experience and good judgement.

            Quack, you're wrong. She's the President's ambassador and represents the President. She doesn't or shouldn't play her own politics with that position, she plays acts as the president person. I've read several comments like this and I'd swear none of you ever read your civics books from high school. Don't they teach that anymore? If she went against the president, he'd have to fire her.

            As to playing with politics, she's far better than Pelosi. Nancy acted as a government representative when she went to Syria. It was a clear violation of the Constitution that could easily have removed her from office. This was bigger than Clinton lying about the fat intern. Dr. Rice had the option to go after her and with the new clips alone, Nancy would have been removed. Dr. Rice didn't, even though it was a shot at her, she showed restraint. I know if the roles were reversed, Nancy wouldn't have. Condi certainly knows how to play cards.

              Condi does what the president bids her to do - it's her job. Unlike tacky Non-see Pelosi, who's off running around in a headscarf trying to broker peace in Syria. Now she's gone off to Tibet to meet with the Dalai Lama.... that is NOT HER JOB. There's no end to this woman's foolishness, and all at TAXPAYER EXPENSE.

              Thank God Bush is in place to babysit these yayhoos, and to shoot down every crackpot, useless pork program they shove under his nose. It's no wonder Bush finally came down on Congress and said, "I'm the Decider". You may laugh, you may scoff, you may whinny, bleat or moo, but at the end of the day, Bush IS the decider, like it or not.

              And I LOVE it when he reminds everybody - with every veto he signs.

        Walden, by 11-July-01, the terrorists were already in this country. As director of National Security she wouldn't have had anything to do with them then. Unless you agree we need to let the NSA and CIA operate here.

        On the WMD, she went with CIA reports and it's possible they were wrong. See my notes on the CIA's track record over the last 30 years.

        As for voting for Obama, I wouldn't vote for him. He's unqualified. I did try to figure him out. Someone from the midwest, well spoken I really did consider him. That was until I looked at this voting record. He's a party stooge. He's never authored a bill. He's never voted contrary to the party. He's more a Dem then the Clinton's ever will be. If histories are to be trusted, he will never cross the isle in friendship or cooperation.

      BB, I couldn't have said it better myself. For the last year and a half, I'd been hoping she'd throw her hat in the ring for president. I was ready to start campaigning for her, and sending campaign contributions. Then it dawned on me. She's too intelligent to even WANT the job as president, and all the politicking and hassles that go with it. She's seen first-hand the headaches and hatred shouldered by Bush, who the libs were violently against from the minute he was elected. In 7 years he's never gotten a break from these people.

      Go into the private sector, Condi, make a bundle of money and don't look back. The people in this country don't deserve your excellent leadership.

            Okay Walden, what has Barack done? What laws did he write? Tax increases or larger government programs did he support? See, that's the problem with him. He's done virtually nothing. I don't like McCain but at least I know where he stands on the issues, I can't figure out your guy. He's the "new" JFK, yea right. JFK loved his country and proudly served. Barack didn't even serve in the reserves, refuses to stand or salute the flag, attends a racist "church" for 23 years. He's little more than a blank sheet of paper.

            Then again your other choice is a woman who see snipers when there are none and has a husband stepping out on her for most of her marriage and claimed to know nothing.

            Tell you what, lets toss all of them and start from scratch, and no, I don't want Ron Paul either. I want an American candidate. Someone who will build the wall, lower taxes, decrease spending on some "social" issues.

              I didn't realize this thread was about Obama being McCain's running mate.

              I'm no fan of Obama, Hillary or McCain. I won't be voting for any of them, so I'm definitely not the right person to trump up Obama's accomplishments.

              I think the choice of candidates sucks. They're all party operatives and beholden to special interests.

              Don't get me wrong, Rice has come from very humble beginnings. She's extraordinarily bright. I like her educational background and her time spent as a provost at a huge university.

              As for being in the president's cabinet or one step away from the presidency, she my friend, like Obama is not ready for primetime.

              Obama we can only surmise he's not ready for primetime.

              Rice has demonstrated it. She is better suited to work for an international power plant company.

                  Again, I don't like John. I've met him and actually spent a little time with him. Okay, very little time but I really don't like him. He's rude and abrasive however, his voting record and his abilities to reach across the isle is well know. For God sake he has Joe Lieberman campaigning for him. That certainly tells you he can work both sides. That's why most of the conservatives don't fully support him. That being said, come November, and he will have our support and probably our money. By not supporting him, we're giving the election to, well I'm not sure what to call Barack or Hillary. Both are unqualified bags of wind who really make a bunch of non-binding promises just like their careers in the Senate.

        Oh, the carpet bagger Clinton goes to New York and gets to be a Jr. Senator. Big deal, she got the job because she's Bill's wife not because of her skills in politics or business.

        I've heard her speak a few times and had the privilege to meet her. She is possibly the smartest persons I've ever had a chance to talk with. I'd support her for president. Better yet, I'd love to hire her. I work in international business building power plants around the world. I'd love to work with someone like this.

      Would now be a good time to ask the SAME question that the Obama distractors asks ALL THE TIME...what experience does she have to be 'Commander-in-Chief'?

      Having diplomatic credentials is great (let's hope she does a better job SPINNING those then McCain has since he keeps getting the players wrong) and she certainly has better foreign policy experience then ANY of the Presidential Candidates.

      And she is clearly a GREAT SOLDIER because she has spent the last 7 years BLINDLY supporting and following the direction of this Presidents failed policies.

        Tess what would you have her doing? Filling sand bags? I'm retired navy so perhaps you've never had to deal with officials during a crisis. When crap happens like Katrina where the local leadership made Pearl Harbor look like a success for the USA, you don't need the press and officials showing up for photo ops. Her job then and now has nothing to do with relief efforts. Again she was NSA and now Sec. State. Unless you've made her the president already.

        As to New Orleans, which seems to be what you're talking about, why would we help anyone there? If you're too stupid to understand that building and living in a city 2 stories below sea level that happens to have a large lake, the Mississippi river and the Gulf of Mexcio surrounding it, perhaps you're not meant to live. I'm religious but sometimes I think Darwin might be right.

          Amen. It's the "dumbification of America" - - people are just getting dumber and lazier, and more reliant on those of us who WORK for a living. The people of New Orleans were DOUBLY stupid. First, they live there, despite being below sea level, surrounded by major bodies of water, and being in hurricane country. THEN, they stood there and stared as a Category 5 hurricane - whose strength and trajectory was known DAYS in advance - bore down on them, waiting for their ineffective (DEMOCRAT) mayor and governor to tell them what to do, which turned out to be essentially nothing. THEN, they have the gall - the sheer GALL - to blame it all on FEMA, which is an agency that comes to the rescue AFTER a disaster - not before.

            Today, two and a half years later, there are thousands STILL LIVING (at taxpayer expense) in FEMA trailers. Now I don't know about you, but I would do whatever the HELL it took to get myself out of a FEMA trailer, into a job, and back on track. No jobs? MOVE! At the time Katrina happened, unemployment was at 4.2% - the lowest rate in 20 years. You can't tell me these people couldn't find work. After the destruction of New Orleans there must have been PLENTY of work to do - picking up debris, cleaning things up, assisting in hospitals, clinics....

            These people just don't want to WORK. They're STILL WAITING for the government to hand them something. SHAMEFUL.

    I will not be voting for any one of the 3 musketeers...no matter who they choose as their running mates. (they're all the same...and no one seems to understand this)

    I will be voting for Dr. Ron Paul no matter what. He is the only deserving candidate...I liked Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel as well. they spoke about real issues. (not media mongering like clinton, obama and mccain.)

    Tess, do you really want to have this talk? I was one who sent truck loads of stuff down there. Are you one of those people who thinks government should do everything for you? The city was told to evacuate but the mayor and gov never gave the order. The mayor lost 200 buses that could have evacuated people but he was in Houston with his family and not doing his job.

    As to the president, Mrs. Bush or any other politician. I'm former military. I remember emergencies and how helpful politicians are. Rather than having police and secret service protecting the politicians I would have rather had extra hands helping clean up.

    However, I do stand on the simple thought, what rebuild in that crap hole. We've spend billions to build in the same damn place. That's stupid.

    Again, Tissuelo, it is not George Bush's job, nor Condoleezza Rice's job, nor Laura Bush's job, nor even FEMA director Mike Brown's job to mobilize the people and help them get out of harm's way prior to Katrina's landfall.

    THAT job fell squarely on Ray Nagin and the New Orleans' police force, as well as governor Kathleen Blanco. You will recall that they failed MONUMENTALLY. Buses, police evacuations and shelter arrangements were all too little too late. Those things are organized by LOCAL and STATE government, NOT the federal government, and CERTAINLY not FEMA. FEMA is responsible for response and recovery. LOCAL GOVERNMENT is responsible for preparedness and evacuations, and on that front, they failed miserably.

    So I don't give a toss what George, Laura, Condi or Mike Brown were doing before Katrina hit. They were all staying out of the way and allowing local authorities to do their jobs, which they DIDN'T.

    Again, when it comes to attacked anyone from the GOP you cut & paste where you feel but when we ask about Obama and his racist religion, you say we don't need to worry about it.

    Condi was presented with a report from the CIA. An agency rife with Democrats. Rather than name calling or attacking either party, I think you should be asking why has the CIA been permitted to be the Agency of screw ups for the last 30 years. Since Carter's time in the White House the CIA has missed important world events. The kidnapping and murder of our ambassador Feb 14,1979. The fall of the Shah. The seizure of the embassy in Tehran. The invasion of Afghanistan by the USSR, the Iran-Iraq war, Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. The fall of the USSR. The CIA failed to report all of them. Forget about attacking Bush, Rice or McCain, let's talk about the CIA and failures.

        Guys, this started during the Carter years and again I'm not attacking Jimmy, although he's still the worst president we've ever had.

        I know after 9-11 there were rumblings. The Director no longer had direct access to the President was a huge statement. But then the "story" of Val Plame ended any hearings attacking the CIA. With all of the conspiracy buffs out there I can't believe they didn't see that for what it was. A smoke screen for the CIA's continued bungling. Val was little more than a clerk. Deep cover operatives if their even slightly good never leave if they're outed. They're a highly trained asset. They dumped her like a dirty diaper. You want real change, let's create a new CIA and fire all of the political appointees from both parties. So how long before the blue vans show up?

              rat, I let's see how history treats President Bush. Looking back at Truman, no one like him. My father was a great example. He was a buck Sgt at the start of Korea and left a 1st Lt in less than 30 days. Makes it easy when you're facing the entire chinese army and they give you only 80 rounds, of course telling you to use them sparingly. Most of that war's dead was caused by Truman's lack of planning when it came to supply. Yet people today from both parties love him. Go figure my dad hated him till the day he died.

              I think Bush will be remembered here for his speeches after 9-11 and leadership during Afghanistan and Iraq. In Iraq most of the civilians like America and like the President. That also goes for the military. The same military whose ballots the California DNC refused to count. All 250,000. Wonder if that will be remembered again.

                Even if you ignore the TOTAL blunder of the war in Iraq (which should never have been prosecuted and which WOULD never have been prosecuted were it not for the acts of treason by the Bush Administration) COULD and SHOULD have been won years ago had this President taken the advise of the the people (ironically labeled....ADVISERS).

                The REAL problem with this President is NOT the complete failure in Iraq (although that is HUGE), it is NOT that he has COMPLETELY ignored the promises he made after 9-11 (although that is HUGE) it isn't even that he has COMPLETELY ruined the economy of this country (which will take decades to fix IF it can be).

                No the reason that this President will go down as the worst in history is because in 232 years no President has pi$$ed on the Constitution and $hit on the people of this country (not to mention the world) like this President has in 7 short years.
