12 reasons 'bitter' comment is bad for Obama

Politics – In fact, this is a potential turning point for Obama's campaign - an episode that could be even more damaging than the attention to remarks by his minister, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, since this time the controversial words came out of his own mouth.

1. It lets Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) off the mat at a time when even some of her top supporters had begun to despair about her prospects. Clinton hit back hard on the campaign trail Saturday. And her campaign held a conference call where former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, a Pittsburgh native, described Obama's remarks as "condescending and disappointing" and "undercutting his message of hope."

2. If you are going to say something that makes you sound like a clueless liberal, don't say it in San Francisco. Obama's views might have been received very differently if he had expressed them in public to Pennsylvania voters, saying he understood and could alleviate their frustrations.

3. Some people actually use guns to hunt - not to compensate for a salary that's less than a U.S. senator's.

Oh how desperate the ZionCons are to smear Obama and continue crimes against humanity in the mideast. What silly, trivial farfarols they have to construct in their smear campaigns.

Zionist Mobsters and John McCain

Politics â;; McCain's Career has mostly been financed by jewish mobster money. He is married to the daughter of a member of the jewish mafia. His family has a long tradition of doing Israel's bidding, even to the point of covering up Israeli attacks on America.

Politics â;; Right wing jewish organizations in the US are mounting a smear campaign against Obama.

Hyperbola, I am curious:

I, just like the overwhelming majority of Jews

living in the USA, would much rather not have

McCain as president. This is a fact proven by

every poll. So what is the basis of the things

that you keep saying?

I am amazed at the false "backlash" supposedly raining down on Obama for speaking what many moderates feel is simply the truth: many American vote for hot-button issues like marriage, gun control and religion.

Is this the best that Obama's sinking opponents can do?

The Jeremiah Wright non-issue, trying to link a pol to his pastor in a way that rarely has been applied with such zeal to any Republican, has evaporated. When Wright wouldn't back down from his hateful words, Obama did the right thing: he cut his ties to the man as his pastor.

Has Hillary admitted her errors for claiming she was under sniper fire? No, she simply "misspoke," while Bill claims it was ONE speech only, after a poor night's sleep.

Has McCain owned up to singing "Bomb bomb Iran"? What sane candidate makes that kind of comment?

There are far worse mea culpa's on the campaign trail, people, than Obama stealing the "Straight Talk express" out from under McCain's nose.

Must be a slow news day.

"Much Ado About Nothing"

But, this insignificant COMMENT does give the Repukes a "real" issue to discuss. Something way more substantial than their Reublican war, lies, corruption, recession, record budget deficit, evaporating jobs, housing crisis, credit crisis, national debt, and silly things like that.

Yup. It gives those Neocons something to sink their teeth into.

"The Jeremiah Wright non-issue"

Templar, you are a product of your environment as W. Clement Stone so eloquently put it.

So the fact that B.O. chooses to align himself with racists, and people who do not love our great naton speaks volumes about himself and his character and what he thinks. Obama only cut his ties with his pastor after he was caught. It would have said more if he had simply left the church years ago when he first heard the hate filled words coming out of the preachers mouth. (FTR, only someone who is either very ignorant or very naive would actyually believe that someone who had been a member of a church for (at the time) 13 years would not have heard or been told that his preacher made outrageous comments about 9/11 one week after the attacks. Especially if that member was a politician.) To cover up for the fact that he did the wrong thing he lied about his knowledge of them, 3 imes in one weekend.

The lies of the Clintons have not gone unnoticed ether. Hillary knows she was caught, and Bill just made it worse. However, this is a thread about B.O. If you want to talk about Hillary's lies, start a thread about her and I will be glad to speak at length about her arrogance/ignorance.

McCain singing "bomb Iran" actually is more of a non-issue. Why? Because he was making light of a situation by quoting someone else. He was making a joke. On the other hand, republicans should know that they cannot make jokes without being crucified politically. Just ask Trent Lott.

FTA: "Here is what (Obama) said April 6, referring to people living in areas hit by job losses: '[I]t's not surprising, then, that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment...as a way to explain their frustrations.' "

Yes, people, the middle class IS bitter about seven years of Bush tax cuts, an endless war, evaporating home values, and two elections handed to King George based in large part on Karl Rove's skillful manipulation of gay marriage and gun rights.

Here's what Obama said Saturday, 04/12, also FTA: "The underlying truth of what I said remains, which is simply that people who have seen their way of life upended because of economic distress are frustrated and rightfully so."

A frustrated (and yes, embittered) amen to that!

avatar
Reply

Home values increased dramatically during the first 6 years of Bush's presidency, when Republicans controlled congress. When the Democrats gained control of both houses the home values plumeted.

The only intrepretation of Obama's comment is that the reason people believe in the 2nd ammendment, the reason they have faith in God, the reason they want immigration laws enforced, is that they are bitter about their econimic status! And that is pure hogwash. I was equally offended when he later said that EVERYBODY knows it was true.

Well said.

well said? i guess neither of you watched your stock portfolios plummet during his first four years.and the implication that a democratically controlled congress is to blame for our nearly worthless dollar and the depression in the housing market is fine as long as you don't factor in a trillion dollar war, an under regulated lending industry and a federal money policy that includes printing additional currency as an economic solution.

It appears you have not read my comment below. (Which is cool because it has moved way down the page)

Stock values began plummenting soon after Y2K with the internet implosion. That wasn't Bushes fault.

I took large losses and was taking write-offs in 2000, 2001, 2002. Those write-offs from millions of Americans reduced tax revenues for years.

I said never again and bought oil/gas, natural gas and utilities.

avatar

ROFLMAO, home values increased dramatically in the first 6 years of the BUSH FIASCO. Then the bubble broke. Seems if we use that same analagy we can say the during the Clinton years the market increased dramatically until the Republican led COngress began to actually influence government and the economy then its result is the biggest economic slump since the Depression.

avatar
Reply

That's so amusing how the repubs. are able to say that the home value troubles are due to the democrats still unashamed - I think you should be quite ashamed to keep repeating that nonsense. I wonder how that works? We've seen everything go down the toilet since GBW&Co. took office yet it's all the democrats fault when everything goes down the toilet. How does that work again?

avatar
Reply

I did not blame the Democratic. I just stated a fact. It's up to you what you infer from that fact. I personally don't believe Democrats or Republicans had anything to do with either the increase in home values or the subsequent crash. I stated this fack only because the libs insist on blaming the republicans. Did you give Republicans credit when the economy was growing when they controlled congress? Of course you didn't!

Besides, everything isn't going down the toilet! I'm doing well. I bought a home at the heigth of the bubble and watched the value fall to substancially below what I own on it. But I don't blame the government, nor am I in a panic. I have confidence in my God-given ability to weather this situation.

LOL...I see. My turn to cherry pick. According to 'wipes, violence is (or was) down in Iraq during the past year. So the Democrats are automatically responsible for that too, right?

avatar

Ha! We are bitter over tax cuts? I'm freaking thrilled everytime they cut taxes. As for the endless war bs, even with the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan we are spending 4% less than the 45 year national average for the military. The evaporating hime values have nothing to do with the presedent, that is caused by people buying outside of their means or not being educated as to what an arm is before buying a house. It is the buyers fault, and he banks fault for giving them the loan knowing that they cannot afford it. Contrary to popular belief, the president cannot control your mind. It is not his fault that people are stupid.

Elections haned to President Bush by Karl Rove??? If anyone handed those elections over to Bush it was the dems. It was their fault for putting such schmucks up against W.

Lets not candy coat it. Obama said that they are bitter so they cling to guns, God and racism.

Why are you still falling for his crap?

avatar

"Ha! We are bitter over tax cuts? I'm freaking thrilled everytime they cut taxes. "

--Self-absorbed people usually are but the reality for many people is that higher prices eliminated any benefit they might have received from a tax cut. But cons think a "good" economy means what's good for them and them alone so you wouldn't understand that.

avatar

Well Meso the truth is that every time they cut my taxes I know for a fact that less of my money is going to Mexico. Also, a good economy is one that is good for all *Working Americans and their families*.

avatar
Reply

Cutting your taxes only gives you more money, if they also cut spending.

Otherwise, it is just deficit spending; which is taxation deferred.

You still get the bill, eventualy.

avatar

You mean when the Democrats are in the White House and the majority in the House and Senate?

Err, no, I was talking about now.

"Well Meso the truth is that every time they cut my taxes I know for a fact that less of my money is going to Mexico."

Tangy, how many times do I have to remind you that until conjobs can demonstrate that they are concerned with waste, fraud, abuse, and excess across the entire economic spectrum (and not just among those in our society to whom you consider yourself superior), your "facts" don't carry a whole lot of weight?

"Also, a good economy is one that is good for all *Working Americans and their families*."

--So what you're saying, in essence, is that anyone who isn't working (including, I suppose, senior citizens, disabled vets and all the young innocent lives you fought so hard to bring into the world) can simply go to hell. Big Oil and Bear Stearns are the ones who count. Got it...

avatar
Reply

You suppose wrong. Senior citizens who are retired have already contributed to our economy. Vets have also contributed to our economy through the military. That is technically a job. You get paid by the feds for your services. As for children, well minors are not considered because they are just that, minors. They were also covered in my statement when I said "and their families". I hope breaking this down for you helped.

Although if you keep it up I will no longer hold from tearing into you.

And a big problem for you is that where I work, there are no radio stations, there is no tv. So, sorry bout your luck.

Oh, and while I am at it, could you clue me in as to whose ideas I am stealing and where they can be heard. I would probably enjoy listening to or watching their show. (Although if they don't podcast I doubt I will get a chane to hear/read it.)

Dude, are you so blinded by Obama's 'greatness' that you can't see how bigoted and anti-Semitic this comment is. Wow, it's like something I might expect on Al Jazeera, or a Hamas promotion.

I'm not sure why you would post such a thing and expect that you are 'helping' Obama especially when his pastor embraces renowned anti-Semite Farrakhan.

Your statement here is awful.
