John Kerry testifies before Congress on April 22, 1971 and recites all of the ludicrous atrocity stories told by the fake veterans of the Winter Soldier Investigation. Kerry was also virtually the only real Vietnam veteran in the Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW).

    Soldier by the most decorated enlisted soldier of the Korean war and A bright and Shining Lie tell fine true stories of the battle at the infantry level... not something we can be totally proud of, but validating Kerry!
    All those swiftboat Air Force pilots have done an injustice to themselves and America!

      Ann Hornaday's review of the 1971 documentary film, "Winter Soldier"
      She describes the film as an "eloquent, unforgettable tale of profound moral reckoning," and singles out this remark:
      "I didn't like being an animal," one veteran explains on the hearing dais. "And I didn't like seeing everyone else turned into an animal."
      Hornaday is presumably unaware that she is quoting Steve Pitkin, the only "Winter Soldier" participant to file a legal affidavit about the events there. His affidavit states that VVAW leaders pressured him to testify about war crimes and atrocities that never took place. Pitkin now describes the Winter Soldier Investigation as "a pack of lies."

  46 of the allegations, if true, would qualify as war crimes, and opened a case file for each.
  Three individuals could not be identified.
  (No record they were ever in the service)
  The other 43 cases were resolved as follows:
  
  25 individuals making the allegations "refused to provide factual data,"
  (Who, what, where and when)
  
  13 more provided information to investigators that "did not support the allegations," and the final
  (day, date, time where they were station vice where the crime allegedly took place. Kinda sorts like Sen. Harkins claim he was a fighter pilot over north Vietnam)

    The only legally binding affidavit signed by any of the WSI testifiers was one done by Steven J. Pitkin in September of 2004. Pitkin, an actual veteran of combat in Vietnam, claimed in the affidavit that the organizers of WSI, including Kerry, pressured him and others to testify to witnessing atrocities that he and they had never seen, and he did so.

      One veteran who testified as WSI was former Army medic Jamie Henry. The atrocities he testified to were confirmed, but his charges were already being investigated by the Army before WSI.

        Wikipedia article is favorable to the WSI, even linking to a John Kerry for President (2004) site as a source. On the vetting of those who would testify at WSI, the entry reads:
        "The organizers of the Winter Soldier Investigation took several steps to guarantee the validity of the participants. Each veteran's authenticity was checked before the hearings by the investigation event organizers..."
        Kerry and Hubbard vetted these "stories"
        Hubbard was a complete fraud!
        Hubbard had claimed to have been an Air Force captain who had flown cargo flights in Vietnam for two years and had been injured by shrapnel near Danang in 1966. It was later learned that he was never either a captain or a pilot, was never awarded a Purple Heart for a combat injury and there was no record of his service in Vietnam.

They made things up to try to get the country out of the war. The bad thing is they succeeded. We had won the war and these things along with Hanoi Jane and hippy movement pushed the government to leave a battle field in shame when we had won the war. They liked that so much that they want to do it again. For them lies trump truth.

    ...free fire zones, poor rules of engagement and the constant striving for a fixed battle with the enemy were military failures... that guaranteed that more of the populace just went over to the enemy. The US is yet to fight correctly an insugent/guerilla war with the right tactics and win it (hopefully Iraq will be the first if we can get some political progress that is left totally to our own military to accomplish - Condi sucks).

  Endo, get real, we could never have won the war. If we would have read Bernard Fall's book on the French debacle... we would have known then we couldn't win! It was a US general named Galloway who told the French that Dien Bien Phu could and would never fall too! He was the ranking US general advisor to the French equiped with our WW2 equipment in the Indochina war.
  Get real! You right wingers wanted to continue WW2 too by attacking the Russians next - what foolhardly fools you are!

    Ho Chi Minh wrote in his memoirs that if the United States invaded North Vietnam he would have fled to China. Despite President Johnson's no win policy, North Vietnam was still ready to give up, until John Kerry came to the rescue. The Soviets were ready to give up during President Nixon's second term. Then the media saved the republic from Nixonian fascism, and Congress cut off all funding for South Vietnam. It was so-called democracy which was hopeless, not the Vietnam war.

Didn't to me. Sounded like stuff coming out of Darfur, or Somalia, or older stuff from older wars. Standard stuff, really.
You may have been attending too many civil war re-enactments?
You said elsewhere that Kerry was almost the only real vietnam vet in the Vets Against the War.
That's news to me, and to others.
Please provide the source.

The VVAW and the WIS were communist fronts and the leaders would not have been allowed in the U.S. armed forces anymore than the Viet Cong.

    Where do you get your information, the American press? Radio Hanoi was less of an enemy propaganda mouthpiece. I suggest reading the information I provided in its entirety. I also recommend buying Unfit for Command, Stolen Valor and Target America, by James L. Tyson.
    I glanced at Kissinger's memoirs, and he revealed that Vietnamization was working, until the coup against Nixon. Kissinger wrote that Richard Nixon "was the most viciously subverted President in history."
