"Campaigning in Coral Gables, Fla., McCain reiterated that he still wants the North Carolina Republican Party to stop running an ad that shows Wright screaming "God damn America." The ad links the pastor with Obama.

But McCain said he was deeply disturbed by new comments Wright has made.

"I saw yesterday some additional comments that have been revealed by Pastor Wright, one of them comparing the United States Marine Corps with Roman Legionnaires who were responsible for the death of our savior. I mean being involved in that, it's beyond belief. And then of course saying that al-Qaida and the American flag were the same flags," McCain told reporters."

McCain is just stiring up more racial divisiveness by perpetuating the importance of Rev Wright, an associate of Obama, not Obama himself.

If McCain wants to talk about associates - then let's talk about Hagee - the guy who perpetuates the end of the world.

which is worse - resentment over racism in America, or wanting to go to war with Iran because you want the end of the world to come.

Go figure. I guess if Hagee was a black man, then everyone would be up in arms and ******ed off at McCain for asking for his support.

Obama chose Wright as his "spiritual mentor" for 20 years. He was much more than an "associate".

McCain chose Hagee for nothing. See the difference?

avatar
Reply

McCain did choose to actively seek out Hagee's endorsement.

what does that mean?

attributing one man's beliefs to another man is just plain stupid.

avatar
Reply

Mccain wanted Hagees church members to support him. Obama chose to support wright. See the difference?

avatar
Reply

I also see the similarities between the two situations. its obvious hagee and Mccain must share some of the same beliefs/values or mccain wouldn't have actively sought his endorsement and been "pleased" by the endorsement.

unless you're saing McCain is being purely political.

I think attributing one man's beliefs to another man, in either case, is just plain stupid.

Yes, by accepting the endorsement of a public figure, you are more or less agreeing with the statements of that person. Remember the brouhaha over Farrakhan's potential endorsement of Obama? Obama said he would not accept such an endorsement because of ideals Farrakhan holds.

Why now does McCain get a pass on accepting the endorsement of Hagee? Of the several vile things Hagee has said, McCain only distanced himself from the one about Catholic wh*res.

Obama looks and acts presidential, even in the face of smears and controversy.

I would like to thank the Cons for providing extra evidence of why Obama is the only `presidential` candidate left.

avatar
Reply

It does not mean that McCain shares his beliefs. McCain simply put it to them that he was the best person running.

avatar
Reply

so...

anyone who endorses Obama: shared belief.

anyone who endorses McCain: simply thinks mccains the best person for the job.

got it.

avatar
Reply

Apparently what he means to say is that whites get a pass but blacks don`t.

avatar
Reply

Oh thats bullsht and you freaking know it!

People Obama endorse, shared belief. People that endorse obama, think Obama best represents them. The same goes for McCain and Clinton.

avatar
Reply

>>Oh thats bullsht and you freaking know it!

Not from everything we've been seeing here. Pat Robertson, Jerry Fallwell, Tim Hagee, & on & on, ALL get a free pass. Bush, McCain, & the rest actively seek these people's support even tho they have all "damned" America for its sins multiple times.

Obama attended Wright's CHURCH; he did NOT seek him out for a political endorsement.

And Wright's done more for the poor & disadvantaged in his community than build theme parks or indoctrination colleges or pray for the end of the world.

So, Papakitty...

If McCain attended a KKK meeting, just one, mind you, 20 years ago and was running for President, you wouldn't have a problem with that? Because it's not about going to that one meeting and associating with black hate groups, it's about the man....

You're truly ignorant....

Do you also believe if a guy is with a group of friends that rapes an innocent girl, doesn't physically participate, but is with the group that does, should he not be associated with their actions because, according to you, it should be based on your own merits not who you hang around with...Based on your rationale, he should be set free and his friends prosecuted...

Brrrrrr - haaaa ! haaaaa ! Are you listening how silly you sound ? oh....boy ! Tito get me a tissue....LMAO !

Liberals are truly clueless....

avatar
Reply

You call ME ignorant when you try to compare Wright condemning sinful actions to a group of rapists?

You truly have no grasp of reality - especially if you believe Wright's sermons are equivalent to rapists.

It's apparent that, in your mind, condemning racist actions is equal to raping a child.

Seek help soon. A good psychiatrist, psychologist, or even a preacher, minister, rabbi, or imam.

Papa,

Wright condemning sinful actions ? Yep...hating whites is a pretty big sin, I would say...

But since you can't read between the lines, wolfy, I'll spell it out for ya....It's really rather simple, but you libs never get it..

It's called guilt by association...Maybe you heard the cliche "Birds of a feather flock together"? Barack went to this church for 20 years and denied that he heard Wright talk about hating whites or that he wasn't there when he made those hateful remarks...You and most libs argue that we should judge the man not his friends or associations..The rape analogy was to prove to you that you would still blame the kid who was part of a group of rapists, even though he didn't PHYSICALLY commit the crime...He would go to jail because he was simply there when it happened and did nothing...Barack was there at Pastor Wright's church and did nothing...he didn't leave or condemn him, he simply stayed and listened to his hate-speech.

avatar
Reply

>> Wright condemning sinful actions ? Yep...hating whites is a pretty big sin, I would say...

It is. And since White WAS NOT preaching hating Whites, his words weren't a sin. If you think he was preaching hate, ask the Whites in his congregation if that's what he did.

>>It's called guilt by association.

Then McCain is guilty by association with his backing of Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, & the rest who condoned & commanded torture, indefinite detention, & the actual death of prisoners in our custody.

And, remember, THEY WERE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILT!!!

BTW, did you hear the whole sermon?

"Obama chose to support wright."

The difference is that this is an outright lie. He chose to support him as a friend who has been involved with his family. He did, however, make it explicitly clear that they disagreed on many subjects and that he did not support specific comments made.

avatar
Reply

He chose to support him by sitting in his church for two decades. He chose to support him when he donated large sums of money to wright.

He first said that he had not heard anything contraversial come out of wrights mouth. Later that weekend he said he had heard a few things that people might see as contraversial. This past weekend he said that over the years he heard things that were contraversial but he did not agree with them. He has changed his story several times.

Also, you should note that he did not come out and say any of this until the msm picked up the story. When the story first broke over a year ago he tried to ignore it.

avatar
Reply

at this point its clear that you either haven't listened to the entire sermon or you are consciously choosing to misunderstand what wright was saying.

avatar
Reply

Denile is not just a river in Egypt pal. It's the state that you are in when it comes to wrights racism.

avatar
Reply

you actually listened to the sermon? I doubt it cause if you did its clear that he's damning all the war mongers, which america happens to be part of at the moment and has been in the past (and if you don't believe that, well, you're in complete denial)

or you've listened to it and chosen to misunderstand because his reality doesn't fit your narrow interpretation of what you think reality is or should be. so you simply write him off as racist. so go ahead, deny his reality. deny that many people feel the same way he does (as evidenced by the reaction his sermons get and by the rousing ovation he rec'd at the NAACP meeting).

you keep taking your shortcuts to thinking. its all you know.

avatar
Reply

Ummmm he hasnt listened to the sermons other then what Alpha has posted on here. This is more right wing smear because of the intense fear they hqve over someone with integrity taking hte White House. Especially when he indicates that the mess caused by the current Administration needs to be investigated. How much worse can it be forthe lemmings then to hafve thier ass handed to them last election when they touted how many seats they would pick up to finding their hero boy could face criminal charges and treason.

"...someone with integrity taking hte White House.."

Who ? Barack ? HAHAAHA ! Brrrrr-Haaaaa!!! ROTFLMAO!!!!

Here's the defintiion of integrity, Dumkirk..

integrity (n.) Steadfast adherence to a strict moral or ethical code

moral or ethical code ? Yep, that just about sums it up for Obama...especially hanging around incredibly moral and upstanding citizens like Reverand Wright and Farrakhan, people who clearly hate America, the white race and claim that our government actually created the AIDS virus to kill off minorities...

Upstanding, indeed...

he has more integrity than McCain.

thats for dam sure.

Tang,

>>He chose to support him by sitting in his church for two decades. He chose to support him when he donated large sums of money to wright.

So? My priest for most of my life is a hard-core Republican. You should've figured out by now that I am NOT a Republican.

I support my church, my Priest & my FAITH with whatever I can. Just because I do that does NOT mean I agree with their POLITICS.

>>He first said that he had not heard anything contraversial come out of wrights mouth. Later that weekend he said he had heard a few things that people might see as contraversial

If you can't see the difference between seeing a controversy & seeing how OTHERS can perceive a controversy, then it's a waste of time arguing with you.

Does your preacher that Jesus was a poor black child being oppressed by garlic nosed Italians much like the way blacks are oppressed by the rich white men who run this country today?

avatar
Reply

That makes no sense.

Just curious - how many Blacks, Jews (Israeli & non-Israeli), Muslims (Arab, Persian & non-Arab or Persian), Native Americans, Japanese, etc., do you know?

How many times have you either witnessed, or been the subject of racism? How many of your family or friends have been refused a place to live or fired from a job for being ethnic, pregnant, or just a woman?

If you can't see that racism, sexism & plain xenophobia are still rampant in this country, then - like I said above - it's a waste of time arguing with you.

And if you have a problem with someone pointing out these problems, then the problem is with you, not Rev. Wright or his Black, White, Hispanic, etc., parishioners.

avatar

Hush, tangy. McCain just wants us to forget he despises Martin Luther King and voted to block that holiday. Like black folks are gonna forget that.

avatar
Reply

I just wanna know which half of Obama is "racist"--the white half or the black half? My head hurts... ;-(

avatar
Reply

Considering that he refers to himself as a black man all the time I would say that the black half is the racist one.

avatar
Reply

And I would say that whatever side of your mouth that comment dribbled out of is your racist side...

avatar
Reply

What is the scary part of his post is, Im pretty sure he actually believes that.

avatar
Reply

doggammit,

Why is he racist? Because he's concerned about a guy running for president, who went to a white-hating church, still goes and still an active member? I think if McCain went to a KKK meeting, you would feel the same way...It's not a race issue, it's what Obama stands for and I'm sorry, who we associate with or hang out with is a direct reflection on who we are...If he truly did not agree with Rev. Wrights comments, he would have left the Church...If I was hanging around friends who were smoking crack, I would leave that particular group of friends because I don't believe the same things my friends believe...

I cannot believe you libs don't understand this issue...If the tides were turned and McCain was caught at a Nazi, anti-Jew meeting, you libs would be salivating and all up in arms...Surely, you can understand this simple concept...

If not, you're retarded...Plain and simple....

ROFLMAO< So Mccain is going to which Church THIS week? Is is the hagee school of hate anything different, Falwell school of Bible over Constitution or Rev Billy Bob's Ive sinned with every womwn in hte congregation BUT Ive found found the light school? Its hard to tell soince he flip flops all over the place. I also guess we should worry about all hte appointments Bush made from Regent since that is the biuble bangers madrassa for training on Biuble over Constitution. Quite frankly Im a lot more worried about the bible bangers wanting to replace the Constitution with THEIR interpetation ofthe Bible then Obama attending the same church for 20 yeares.

Oh and can you please post some of legislation hes sponsored or tried to pass that supports those views you seem to think he has.

I'm not going to provide anything until you and wolfie-boy answer my first question...

If McCain had went to a KKK meeting or a Nazi, skin-head function 20 years ago, how would you react to him running for President today ? Because if Barack can get away with it since he's a Democrat and black, shouldn't McCain ?

This I gotta hear....

avatar
Reply

McCain changes his religious affiliation depending on the audience he's talking to, Baptist today, Episcapalian the next. Such a flip floppy panderer!

Then he seeks out endorsements of end of days psychopaths and meth heads like Hagee and Haggard.

Obama went to 1 church for 20 years and listened to sermons that many people don't like, but he never turned his back on his faith or used it to get votes like McCain has done.

Until you hear Wrights entire sermon - beyond the 10 second snipet looped on Fox - you really can't judge what Obama accepted.

avatar
Reply

Sucks for you that Fox was not the first news source to break the obamination story. And that I, much like the rest of the people who are against wright have heard more than 10 secs of audio. Sucks don't it?

avatar

sucks for you that it didn't seem to make one bit of diff in the primaries. he still gained more than 10 points on hillary in PA AFTER both wright and bittergate.

and he's still up on mccain in the nat'l polls. check it:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/pr...

mccain isn't leading in any poll.

yep. sucks to be you.

That just shows us how "progressive" the dems are. They are capable of over looking the Many faults of B.O. just because he promises them Hope and Change. Sucks for them that on Iraq war votes he has voted the same exact way Hillary did 84 out of 85 times.

Change allright.

Sucks for America that two out of three candidates are war mongering toadies and McCain a buffet Christian. Sucks for you that America has had enough of Bush's "good will tour" in Iraq while Clinton-McCain have not. Sucks for radical RW Evangelists that they have been led like sheep by a bunch of Judas Goats and actually think their beliefs have something to do with Jesus' teachings.
