Wasn't sure what subject to put this one under. It's a story from the perspective of Obama's teacher in Indonesia. It's not much about politics. It's more about a young man's dream to one day be President. I found it quite remarkable. I hope you agree.

Great story Jovial. I have ambivalent feelings; on one hand it is heartwarming to read about Obama's teacher's recollections and the students in another country who know about Obama. And on the other hand, we have too many people here in our own country who simply refuse to get know the man who is could help our nation turn the corner on its darkest moment in histroy.

So true. I thought to myself that this young man has a refreshing perspective on culture that I find lacking in other candidates. It would be interesting to have a President for a change that actually knew more about the different cultures that make up this great nation, instead of candidates that have been isolated from them in places like Keenebunkport or Hope, Arkansas or some other small town in Arizona.

Thanks.... a good story. I hope to see him as president one day and I hope that day is soon. I believe most people want change, but are afraid to be a catalyst for change, by giving the vote to Obama. There appears to be the fear of the unknown when it comes to Obama.....for me, the fear would be the fear of the"known" , when it comes to the other two candidates.

The only part of Obama's platform I don't like is his approach to healthcare ..... Clinton may have a better approach. Thats just my opinion .... then again... I don't have all the facts on either program.

"There appears to be the fear of the unknown when it comes to Obama.....for me, the fear would be the fear of the"known" , when it comes to the other two candidates."

Greenmac, that is a very profound statement with the ring of truth in it! I think this is what has been rumbling around in the recesses of my thoughts but I couldn't not bring it to the forefront. You expressed it perfectly!

People have become so used to their poison, they don't want to give it up, akin to alcoholics and drug addicts. Trifling and Tragic!

I like Obama's healthcare plan better, though his and Shrillary's are nearly identical, but I prefer not to be "forced" to purchase anything, even health insurance, or be fined if I don't! That's a bit too dictatorial for my taste. Obama's plan is to make the cost so low that nearly everyone can afford it, and the small percentage who cannot, will be subsidized so that they can get it, too. I like that!

Wouldn't it be nice if the corporate media in the US would give us some positive stories instead of the craaappp they feed us?

I have some more descriptive words to describe him other than curly haired one.

        How about the anti-American one?

        Or the racist one?

        Maybe the socialist one?

        Or better yet, the loser

Instead of just calling names why don't you supply some reasons? You know put some meat on them bones.

It looks like it is fear of Obama which has translated to vitriol for the likes of Rev Wright and Profesor Ayers. Hey, they are not running! They have a right to deflect the smears against them. If you want to get to Obama, concentrate on him... you can call him bad words, like (oh my gosh my golly, is he really a) SOCIALIST!

Personally, I wish he WERE a socialist... but his solutions, like his health care solution, are firmly in support of existing free-enterprise entities (like insurance companies). He has proposed little to cause conservatives the fear and loathing they are demonstrating on these boards and in the mainstream media. (P.S. The RIGHT wing in Europe are closer to our Democrats and are socialist).

There are only "idealogical" (market branding) differences between the parties. In practice, they are so close that voting for Tweedldee is so close to voting for Tweedldum that we get 50/50 (like flipping a coin) in most elections. We are so much more alike than different that we find even the slightest innovations in thinking foreign (and label them to put them outside our comfort zones).

I liked the story. It's nice to read a human interest story. It's also nice to think that one of the candidates is truly "international." Unlike GWB who never traveled internationally until he was president.

Most know that I'm not an Obama supporter, but man how nice it would be to have him president rather than McCain.

Some will hold it against him though that he aimed to be

president even as a little kid.

And how pathetically hypocritical that would be when we brag about America being the land of opportunity and the one in which "anyone" can aspire to be president...I guess some still think that only holds true for a "select" group of Americans.
