Politics – So this is where we are now. The very last rhetorical line has been crossed. The last top military official who might -- might -- have resisted military action against Iran has been removed, replaced (with the avid backing of Obama) by Bush's willing executioner Petraeus.
You can not bring democracy to the middle east.
You can only bomb them in the name of democracy.
And there-by, give democracy an evil image.
The middle east has been set back decades by the present war; Iraq is not a democracy; it is an anarchy divided among spheres of influence.
If you want Iran to have democracy; go there and preach it.
Persuade them of your better civilization.
And what is it exactly you realize, anyway?
TeeHee. Yeah... let's all go to Iran and stand on a street corner and preach democracy in opposition to the Ayatollahs. That would last about 15 minutes - then we'd never be seen or heard from again. Keep in mind: They DO NOT really have any free speech protection except as allowed by the current nutjob rulers.
So, this time the military generals will spew the propaganda about Iran. And that is supposed to absolve everyone of any blame when Bush orders the invasion / bombing, when it is revealed after the fact - AGAIN - that there was NO evidence of ANYTHING they said about Iran.
Totally evil. There is no other explanation.
I posted this story earlier this evening --

"The Iraqi government said Sunday that a committee has been formed to find "tangible information" about Iran's intervention in Iraq rather than "information based on speculation." It seemed to signal a retreat from U.S. officials' assertions that Iran is behind the increase in violence."
I was ignorant. I was surprised. I expected to see camels and sheiks with turbans.
You're right it is like it is here.
The picture that speaks the most to me is the one of little kids with their faces painted. When I think of my tax dollars possibly going to bomb them or their families into oblivion it literally brings tears to my eyes.
Iran's leadership is culpable in catch-22 fashion. Serial numbers of European firearms sold to Iran had been found in Iraq within weeks of shipment.
Either:
1. Iran's leadership is complicit in the transfer of arms to Iraqi insurgents;
Or:
2. When presented with the evidence of their complicity, they refuse to act to prevent the transfer of their newly-purchased arms to Iraq.
Call it in the air: heads, casus beli; tails, casus beli.
Or:
3. This "information" is another of the brilliant black strategies devised by the clever people who are behind the current Iraq misadventure. Remember the "missile launcher" caravans in the desert?
What I remember is Saddam Hussein granting safe harbor to the killer of Leon Klinghoffer, an American citizen murdered in cold blood on the open seas.
That single act alone justified the invasion of Iraq. The tons of nuclear material shipped from Iraq to the US is merely the icing on the yellowcake.
How about some documentation on those firearms?
Also, Saudi Arabia has been funding the Sunni insurgency for quite awhile now. But, you NEVER hear anything about that in the media. Imagine that ....
Well go ahead US "the home of the brave and land of the free"
but don't expect anyone to support you. Walden showed a good picture of Iran.
Georgia, I'm at loss for words. How do you KNOW that what you are saying is TRUE? I spoke to a US citizen in February who was convinced that WMD had been found buried under 10 feet of sand and that Obama was a muslim. When asked to provide references to his statements, guess what, he could not. That didn't stop him from repeating them as an automaton. So, where are your references? Let's be knowing.
If GWB starts a (new) war now, with the end of his term so near, I don't think the next guy will be very keen to give him the pardon he may eventually need. Not nice to dump a fresh new war on someone else's desk.
Also, as regards Iran providing weapons that are harmful to our troops in Iraq: If our troops were NOT IN Iraq I guess they couldn't be harmed there, right? It's way past time to GET OUT. Either work to elect Ron Paul, or start to accept the idea that we will have troops in the middle east for years to come. I'm pretty confident NONE of the others will exit quickly ... if at all. I would be happy to be proved wrong in this.

I feel that it is almost inevitable that we are forced to bring democracy to Iran. When this will happen I hesitate to predict.
Will it be the same way we've brought democracy to Iraq?
Certainly, that strategy worked didn't it?????
