"House Republicans will hold a rally with President Bush on Wednesday morning, with all 199 members invited to show solidarity with the president"

Well, THAT is certainly going to be an awkward moment.

If I were Bush I would keep close to the door.

I expect McCain to beat Obama, but the GOP needs to give the people a new vision different than Lyndon Bush's if they want to avoid a filibuster-proof Dem Senate majority. A new Contract with America and a return to REAL conservativism would be a nice start.

REAL conservativism? OK, Jose, how about greater fiscal responsibility and a truly "conservative" (non-radical) foreign policy for starters?

Are any meaningful steps in this direction likely to be initiated under a McCain presidency? I see no trends, none whatsoever, the reverse in fact -- more of the same disastrous Bush policies.

          Jose

The Republicans haven't had a conservative message in years - in fact they haven't had any message at all. They have gone the way of Democrats - spend, spend and spend some more

The lard dripping off of them is becoming rancid

They need to look at the positions the Blue Dog Democrats have taken and take their lead from them
