Why Bush Must Recognise The Nakba

Politics – "It is a slap in the face," said Diana Buttu, a prominent Palestinian analyst in the West Bank, told The New York Times, adding that the US is essentially saying: "You have no history and your past does not matter."

One has to consider that prior to the late 1960s 'Palestinians' as a PEOPLE (an ethnic entity) were unknown to the world.

According to the Ottoman population records there were many people living in Palestine back in the 1920s: Arabs, Jews, Armenians, Druzes, even Russians... but no 'Palestinians'.

Twenty years later a Palestinian Brigade was fighting the Nazis as a part of the British Army. All soldiers and officers of the Palestinian Brigade were... Jews.

You draw a false dichotomy between Palestinians and Jews.

Palestinians can be Muslim, Jewish, Christian. Even atheist or buddhist. "Palestinian" is not a religion.

> You draw a false dichotomy between Palestinians and Jews.

No, I don't. According to MY definition, Palestine is a GEOGRAPHICAL AREA and 'Palestinians' are PEOPLE LIVING IN PALESTINE. Just like 'Californians' are "PEOPLE LIVING IN CALIFORNIA". This simple fact allowed the members of the Palestinian Brigade to be Jews.

> Palestinians can be Muslim, Jewish, Christian. Even atheist or buddhist. "Palestinian" is not a religion.

According to the one and only official definition of 'Palestinians' they are ARABS who lived in Palestine for at least two years prior to 1948 and all their descendants. This means that an Egyptian Arab who was born and raised in Cairo WAS a Palestinian; an American from New York named Edward Said WAS a Palestinian; an Israeli Jew Ariel Sharon who was born and lived in Palestine for his entire life is NOT a Palestiniian.

Would you call a guy from Paris, France a Californian because his grandfather lived there?

Jewish Palestinian speaks out against 'apartheid state'

Religion â;; His duty, he says, is the same of all persons' worldwide--to mobilize against war crimes perpetrated by governments in citizens' own names. "Not in my name," Davis cries out--a closed hand gesticulating his affront. "Not in my name as an individual and citizen." He raises his voice as loud as he is able to shout. "Not in my

name".

The first official definition of 'Palestinians' was given by the Palestinian Charter in 1968. According to this definition 'Palestinians' are Arabs who lived in Palestine for two years prior to 1948 and all their descendants. How would you like a similar definition of a 'Persian', for example, saying that any person who lived in Iran for two years prior to the Islamic Revolution is a Persian? How about grandchildren of a Japanese who spent two years in Tehran back in the 1960? Are they Persian despite being born and living in Japan for their entire lives?

No one denies the terrible tragedy of the Palestinian Arabs, however it happened and continues to happen mostly, if not only because of their desire to kill and be killed instead of living in peace.

It were the Arabs who started the war against Israel back in 1948 and it were the Arabs who refused a peaceful resolution of the conflict on so many occasions since then. Germans and Japanese people went through even more horrible tragedies but they were able to accept responsibility for their lives and actions. Today Germany and Japan are among the most peaceful and most prosperous nations on the planet.

It did not and will not help the Palestinians and Muslims in general to continue blaming others for their misery for as long as they refuse to live in peace. To the contrary, their troubles will become worse.

Bollocks. It happened mostly, because a large influx of white europeans under the banner of Zionism determined that they would take the Palestinians land. No different than the program of "lebensraum," just carried out on a different landscape.

> ...a large influx of white europeans under the banner of Zionism determined that they would take the Palestinians land...

Sorry, dear. There was no and is no "Palestinians land" (a land set aside by the highest authority for the exclusive use by the Arabs). The land in question was taken from the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) which owned it for at least 600 years. There were many different people living there the two largest groups being Arabs and Jews. In 1948 the UN OFFERED to divide the land, create two sovereign states, one for the Arabs and the other for the Jews, and thus end the conflict. As you, possibly, know the Jews agreed to this solution. The Arabs rejected it, sterted a war and lost. Since then they had multiple opportunities to peacefully and they've always preferred to continue fighting.

Further, you should know that Israel is a sovereign state. It's up to Israel to decide who and how to "influx" there.

Sorry that is just more zionist lies. The UN has already judged the case and recongnized the right of 5 million christians and moslems that were ethnic cleansed by zionists to return to their home and property. Furthermore, the UN maintains detailed lists of the land and property stolen from them by zionists.

More Zionist lies, more Zionist lies. Unfortunately, history doesn't lie. Hyperbola doesn't like the real history, so she cries lies. Hyperbola, you sound like a little child. The fortunate part about trying to persuade an intelligent audience is that they are educated and recognize the facts. You are preaching to an educated audience Hyperbola. Doesn't it make you wonder why most of the people here laugh at you? It isn't because they are "Zionists", it's because they grew up in American schools which didn't teach hatred. They read, listen to the news and make their own decisions based on the facts, not on propoganda. Your rantings would work in the Arab world for the exact opposite reasons.

Zionists share with the nazis "big lie propaganda". The US has had a serious problem with censorship/suppression of the truth about zionist crimes against humanity, but the rest of the world is well informed. Even in the US, zionist censorship is breaking down, and honest jews (like this one) are playing an honorable role - that is why desperate zionists become ever shriller in their attempts at suppression.

The loathsome smearing of Israel's critics

Religion â;; In the US and Britain, there is a campaign to smear anybody who tries to describe the plight of the Palestinian people. It is an attempt to intimidate and silence - and to a large degree, it works. There is nobody these self-appointed spokesmen for Israel will not attack as anti-Jewish: liberal Jews, rabbis, even Holocaust survivors.

Actually Natureboy, you have your history very one sided. In 1922, 2/3 of Palestine was taken away from the Palestinians and given to the Hashemites. The country which grew out of this land grab gained it's independence from Britian in 1947, 1 year before Israel was established. It is called Jordan today. The Hashemite rulers of this country are not Palestinians, but members of the Saudi Royal family. If this doesn't fit into the definition of occupation, then nothing does. Lets compare it to Israel. Jordan exists on 2/3 of Palestine. Israel exists on 1/3. According to you, white europeans (non Palestinians) "determined that they would take the Palestinians land". The Hashemites (non Palestinians) took the Palestinian land and rule to this day. The only difference that I can see in your eyes is that Jordan is Moslem so that makes it legitimate. Israel is Jewish, so that doesn't make it legitimate. Both cases are exactly the same.

"It did not and will not help the Palestinians and Muslims in general to continue blaming others for their misery for as long as they refuse to live in peace. To the contrary, their troubles will become worse." Thinker is correct here. The definition of insanity is "repeating the same action over and over again and expecting a different result each time." According to this definition, the Palestinian Arabs are insane.

That is why zionism is failing more and more. Repeating the nazi ideology of "master race", "subhuman, "living space for the master race" and "ethnic cleansing/genocide for the subhumans" by zionist ideologues is passe and reaching the end of its shelf life. Honest jews (like this one) know that even if you are still buried in your propaganda bubble Edmar.

Zionism versus Judaism

Religion â;; Zionists have managed to unforgivably drag judaism's name through the mud for more than 60 years. Zionism might be a racist, supremacist ideology - but Judaism is most definitely not. The more Jews who make this distinction, the better: both for security of their fellow Jews, as well as to end zionist crimes against Palestinians.

Hyperbola, you can't even answer a post with any factual knowledge. Take Google away and you're a fish out of water. The only thing that you know is to preach your hate. I doubt very much that you ever successfully debated anybody in your life. You don't have the ability nor the knowledge. You are truly being laughed at by the audience here and you're not smart enough to even recognize that!!!! If you are any representation of how a Palestinian thinks, although I know that you are not Palestinian, then maybe by some quirk of genetics or birth you were shortchanged in the brains department. Good luck with the burgers, fries and shakes.

Sounds like you are getting ever more desperate Edmar as your support for zionist crimes against humanity is revealed for what it is. You should try to catch up with the modern world instead of dwelling in the nazi/zionist era.

Forget the two-state solution

Politics â;; Zionists have made the two-state solution in Palestine impossible. The only solution is a single state for jews, christians and moslems.
