The presidency consists of more than just the president. You have to take into account that his actions, while he in the end makes the decision, consists of numerous different cabinets and advisers. So comparing the president and his people to Congress is a not as idiotic as you would like to say.
But I do agree its an unjust comparison as Congress consists of both parties who in a lot of cases work to block the actions of the other. Not to mention they fill a different role in the government.
But to be fair, Pelosi and the other Dems swore that things would change after they won....but I don't think they lived up to their promises.
Things did change though. Gas was only $2.09 a gallon on November 1, 2006. The stock market was at its highest ever point that week as well.
And things did change in Iraq as well, instead of withdrawing like was promised we stayed. The Surge worked, the Democrats gave hundreds of millions in tax dollars for the surge that they criticized the entire time.
We got change when unemployment numbers started rising again. We got change when home foreclosures rose by 40% less than a year after Pelosi took control.
And of course, we had the 1st 100 days that absolutely nothing was accomplished. We even got change in mininum wage laws...which was the 1st wage increase to not apply to the US Territories where Dole and Starkist (both Pelosi supporters) run their operations.
Hayduke,
