Politics – Democrat John Edwards has given his long-awaited endorsement to Barack Obama. It's a major boost from a former presidential rival as Obama tries to shrug off Hillary Rodham Clinton, who is determined to press ahead.
They'll still be able to have the dream ticket . . . first black president and first woman vice-president.
Edwards was my first choice for Democrat nominee. He was the one saying what I wanted to hear; that America is deeply out of balance; capitalism for the poor, and socialism for the rich.
He being super-rich cut the argument a little; but it was still what a lot of us feel.
When the heck did someone open the door and let all these millionaires in?
But he will not do as VP. He is to the left of Obama and Obama will need someone to the right.
Senator Edwards' message was one we all could relate to. As a VP candidate Edwards will, in my opinion, be able to reach the so-called poor white voter that Senator Obama has allegedly been unable to 'reach'. This campaign has revealed subtle racist undertones that will only grow less subtle as we approach crunch time this Autumn. Closet racists will be overt in their posturing and things will get really nasty. Let's hope the electorate will rise above this divide and ignore calls for injecting southern-strategy ideologies into the campaign.

"I think Edwards would be a great VP for Obama. Together they would be the best chance we have at leveling the playing field for the middle class and lifting those on the bottom out of poverty."
