Politics – The "Post 9/11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act" sounds like the kind of rally-round-the-flag plan that John McCain, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton all could embrace. Instead, it's become one of the starkest dividing lines between McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, and his likely Democratic opponent.
I don't think it is 'anti-vet'; McCain is a vet, it is too much a part of him.
But he is rich. Money corrupts.
He has the indiference to the working class that the very wealthy have.
His attitude is, if you start giving soldiers benefits they will get spoiled; they will want to leave the service and enjoy the good life.
McCain has just become another W mouthpiece ever since he caved on his own Anti-Torture Bill on Cheney's carpet. As such, what do you expect when the first defense spending bill of this year was vetoed by W because he didn't want Sadam tortured, US soldiers to be able to sue Iraq (but outside companies can). Its all about the money for these repugs which is the bottom line on their scrupples too! Any entitlements, however deserved, are still examples of socialism to these fools too - just another arguement not to support entitlements... so there is lots of money for those sole source, unaudited Repug contracts, and the country's greater debt!

McCain is like all republicans when it comes to helping vets, they don't.Cannon fodder shouldn't be helped, just sacrificed.
Coming from McCain it shows that even those republicans that served, like he did, some how get turned around and become anti vet to satisfy the party line.Shameful!
