> The allegedly "dumbest" was Ronald Reagan, whose reign led directly to the collapse of communism in Europe and freedom for hundreds of millions of people.
Uh, news flash. The Soviet Union`s leaders admitted to themselves in the 70`s that the USSR was economically doomed. Only thing Reagan did was saber rattle, which made the Soviet hardliners stronger and actually delayed the collapse that much longer. Now, where Reagan is relevant to this board, is in his appeasement, er negotiations ex post facto that helped turned a former enemy into a semi ally with secure nukes.
Ron Reagan said the reason he said he'd never pull out of Beruit was that 'he didn't understand the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics'
of course later he did leave Beruit
Ron Paul used this brilliantly to make a point about understanding me politics, but the post I wrote about it is gone
but it was a beautiful argument Paul made for dialogue and understanding our 'foes', and it was just plain purty the way he used the patron saint reagan against the other GOP candidates
