Actually the race card was first played by Michelle Obama in Milwaukee. That mistake was corrected by the time they got to Madison but she's the first one.
As to Hillary's comments, I don't think it was a mistake. She's a lawyer and former first lady. She knew what she was doing. As to the elections he's won, Obama may be trying to avoid being the "black" candidate, his supporters are not. In poll after poll, it's clear black America voting for the black candidate.
You are absolutely wrong if you are implying that Black people will vote solely based on race or gender. Why can't Black people vote for a Black candidate that is ready day one? Remember other Black candidates were rejected by Black voters. When you think of it, Obama had to work for the Black vote very hard, and still Clinton has a very loyal following. Life in America has been more real in terms of 'survival' for the African American race. Think about segregation, black balling, glass ceilings, redlining, racial profiling and discrimination in general that reduces their quality of life in the land of plenty. Black people won't waste a vote for the white house based on trivia, knowing what is at stake. Thinking this person will bring change that is good for the nation may inspire a few more to come out and vote, but that's also across the board. Blacks voting for Obama because he is Black is as bad as Hillary's comment about White working people.
First, I'm going by what's reported by the press. See my bio? I'm a few miles from Wisconsin. From the news we get, besides the landslide support Obama has from everyone, supposedly, news from many of the southern states presents a very racially divided block of voters. If I'm wrong, for a change don't blame me, blame the press reports they're sending out.
As to blackballing or glass ceilings, did you miss what I do for a living? I'm a captain in the US Navy. Left carrier status and ended up in command school. Glass ceiling? 65 years ago I might have been permitted to be a nurse but O6, never.
Again, prior to shipping out I heard Obama speak twice. Lots of words without substance. His views on the world are very naive. His views on business are laughable. As to his view of the military scary.
Identity politics can't be denied 97% of black males in North Carolina voted for Obama. I see nothing wrong with it people should vote for those they most closely identify with if they want to. The trouble with this situation is that blacks "circling the wagons" around the Obama candidacy, has created a backlash from the white majority as they are becoming less fascinated with Obama and voting for him in far fewer numbers
as the process moves along and therefore vote for those they most closely identify with as a counterpoint!

The issue is not that we are voting for him, the issue is why. And once again, it's because we feel he is the BEST CANDIDATE for the job, period.
