The Oil-Addiction Fallacy

Politics – Watch any talking head, and when the subject comes to energy, one can expect to hear the mantra, Americans are "addicted" to oil, and especially "foreign oil." This is repeated as though the repetition is proof that the premise is true.

Good article Populist. I don't agree completely with everything but close enough. If I may add one thing, we are not addicted to oil, modern society is dependant upon it, life on this planet with its population is dependant upon it. Without oil and all the many ways it is used, we would still be living the "Little House on the Prairie" kind of life. What we can readily do is develop alternatives to using it for energy production, whether powering transportation or for producing electricity.
