I like number 8 the best, with 3 and 7 being the runners-up (I'm saving Bobby Jindal for a presidential run in about 4 to 8 years).

McCain/Powell 08!

I would have thought you would go with Mitt, Surprised.

I like Joe or Mike. Maybe even Mitt.

I don't think Colin will go for VP. Maybe I am wrong.

I don't know why I am calling everyone by their first name. Less typing I guess:)

Mitt and Sarah were my runners-up. And I know Colin most likely won't go for it but that would be THE dream ticket.

avatar

Maybe Colin will be Obama's VP. That makes more sense to me.

Bite your tongue! ; )

Go Colin. He's very intelligent, remained above the fray and is well respected by many. But would he take it? he wouldn't run for prez.

I was hoping he'd run this time.

avatar

I like Mitt. But I also like Condie, Colin, even Huckabee.

avatar

I would consider the others, but Colin Powell would immediatedly put Mccain on my extreme consideration list of which now there is none.

I just always had a high respect for the man and he knew and was respected in the foreign policy arena.

Si, senor. : )

Mitt would be good it would also set him up for 2012

If Powell ran as Obama`s VP, that would restore a lot of the credibility he lost as a tool for the Bush admin in the lies running up to the Iraq invasion.

It would be good for Powell, good for Obama, and good for America to get some common sense back into the WH.

avatar
Reply

Cat, ditto, I think it would make a lot of sense since Powell is a liberal but maybe to the right of Obama. So a good choice for the democrats.

Alpha

With McLame and Powell on the ticket there would be two democrats running on the republican ticket.

It doesn't matter who this piece of crap picks. Neither will get to walk up the steps of the White House except to visit the President.

avatar
Reply

I'm sure Obama will be a gracious host GWW.

avatar
Reply

I doubt he'll go for it... he didn't run for President and he'd have been a sure win for the Republicans. He doesn't want the office, unfortunately, and he won't take an office that might make him President in the future.

avatar

Don't you think Powell has learned his lessons about dealing with neocons? They are not to be trusted. No way would he accept. If McCain is not a neocon why does he always vote with them (excepting the torture issue)?

avatar
Reply

McCain won't be President, so I find the list silly.

Obama has a powerful machine, I'll give you that. But he's not the great leader everyone seems to think. He's got a lot of baggage. Between his clearly racist church to Michelle's constant foot in the mouth mistakes. If McCain picks the right VP, he's got a pretty good shot.

avatar

Like McCain doesn't have any baggage, right!

With amount of flip flops McCain has done how can you in all

honesty believe anything this man says? You can't trust this man he will flip or lie to you in a split second!

John McCain vs. John McCain

Never said John didn't have baggage. I'm not a fan of John's, he's too liberal. As to his honesty, I think he's more honest than the DNC candidates currently running. Obama hasn't said much and Michelle seems to do her best work when she's reading from the play book. When she's gotten off track, we hear things like, "This was the first time I was proud of American..." I live in Milwaukee and heard her mistake and attempts to repair the damage. As to Barack, I really don't think he's ready for any leadership, much less being president. The only good I see from Barack winning, it will be like Jimmy Carter all over again.

McCain carries more baggage than United Air, and it keeps growing every time he opens his mouth and is allowed to speak freely by his handlers.

And Cindy, geez, don`t get me started. The controlled substance drug thief who stole from a charity despite being Dick-Cheney Rich. Then, as soon as McCain seems to be getting the nomination, she tries to capitalize by selling a recipe book based on stolen recipes. Nevermind the fact she is an adultering home-wrecker who stole someone else`s husband. I`ll take the right-wing lies about Michelle over the real Cindy any day of the week.

If you or I had done half of what Cindy has admitted to doing, we would be in jail.

You know, I've only recently met Cindy and I found her to be a rather genuine person. Now her drug days, I don't know about that. Didn't meet her then. Like a lot of people, she's gone through rehab and seems to be doing well. Home wrecker, stealing from a charity or whatever. I do know she's very proud of her nation and would never insult it the way Mrs. Obama does.

As to baggage, John, like many politicians does have a lot. More than some, less than others. I know military wise, I've read his open records. He was actually a topic at the Naval War College on how to conduct yourself as a prisoner. I don't like his politics, I think he's too liberal. However, his military record speaks volumes of what love of country truly is. It's something, silver spoon Harvard educated Obama will never know. No matter how many racist church services he sits through.

I believe that Powell is NOT on the list.

I believe he came out against some of the current administrations choices in recent history.

If people have a hard time with a black man with an Muslim-sounding name, do you think the Bobby Jindal would likely have even more resistance. Condoleezza said she is not interested in anay way running or being considered for the off of Vice President. Huckabee shot himself in the foot; pun intended. So, tell me, where is the REAL list?

avatar
Reply

lol, sorry I don't have a better list for you. Who would you like to add to it?

And mark my words, Bobby Jindal is our future.

avatar
Reply

I'd like to see Jindal in there. Smart, hardworking, seems to know what's up...kinda like Odumbma but real....

avatar
Reply

That's all I keep hearing "he is like Obama," vidman04 to suggest that Obama is dumb is to prove yourself an idiot. YOU ON THE RIGHT ARE LOOKING FOR AN OBAMA LOOKALIKE. Thank god we on the Left have the real thing!

lol, I don't think he's ANYTHING like Obama. But I get what you were saying. ; )

"Sessions is too conservative for McCain"

...this morning, but wait til the afternoon.

Kennedy picked Johnson in spite of the "Bad Blood"

Jeff Sessions could happen.

I am respectfully curious.

Who represents the conservative point of view from your viewpoint?

There is no one who represents my viewpoint.

Kucinich may come the closest, but not close enough.

So I am stuck playing the party line.

Rush Limbaugh for VP!

(If I missspelled the name, it was due to laziness: under tight deadlines, just taking a minute to unwind.)

I think Michael Steele would be a great choice.

Certainly better than Alan Keyes.

Sorry that dude just bugs me.

avatar

I also think the VP picks this year are gonna be REALLY important on BOTH sides.

avatar
Reply

The VP picks are more important by far than in previous years, for sure.

avatar
Reply

when one side has as weak a candidate as John McCain, they are going to do everything in their power to divert the topic from their candidate, avoid the issues, and promote whatever VP attributes they believe exist.

The Democrats need to be very conscious of every effort by the Right-wing to divert attention and discussion from the real issues. While nailing the Cons on their hypocrisies and BS rhetoric, the Dems need to make sure that the real issues continue to dominate public discourse on the election. Otherwise, the race will come down to who owns more of the msm, and we know who will win that non-contest.

Someone to keep an eye on... not now, certainly, but in a few years:
