Why Does Media Push Lies About Rove?

Politics – Karl Rove has become the man who cannot be libeled. Any story that includes his name is treated as self-authenticating, requiring neither supporting evidence nor the barest plausibility. Having committed the unforgivable sin of contributing to two successful Republican presidential campaigns, Rove has become, for American media, the equivalent of a

60 Minutes chose to highlight Simpson's claim that she was Rove's secret agent without telling its viewers that this sensational allegation had been altogether absent from her sworn accounts.

Wholly unexplained, for example, is why, if Rove or anyone else wanted to spy on the governor of Alabama, he would assign the task to a conspicuously large redhead with no experience as an investigator and no ties to the Republican party, rather than hire a professional investigator.

Just the other day the Propeller libs were falling all over themselves about this woman's statements. I pointed out it was hear-say at best and sounded like a load of bull. But, they love the taste of BS.

She's opening herself up to a defamation suit as is 60 Minutes for lacking journalistic integrity. There are certain steps journalists are supposed to go through to help ensure they aren't slinging BS -- like finding corroborating evidence before running with a salacious story.

When I was in J-School, the rule of thumb was at least one person going on record and two or three supporting documents. Perhaps had she ever recorded her fantasy conversations with Rove, it would have carried some weight.

Why not. It is simply using Rove's tactics against him. He is the one who started the "whisper campaign" in Texas that caused a man to kill himself. He is the man who sold his own soul to gain political power. He is evil pure and simple.

Ask Anne Richards ghost if Rove was a fair politician.

Rove swiftboated Mccain in South Carolina so his Chimpanzee could get the nomination.

Now Mr Rove, paid by Murdock, who also owns and published this Weekly standard Neocon propaganda article that neocon Stevens thinks is news, is whining because he is being called on the carpet for jailing an innocent man?

Wow. Resorting to name calling. How mature.

Read the post I was referring to. ABW called the president a chimpanzee. I was responding in kind.

No you weren't you were trying to make a thinly veiled racist comment. OR to make his comment seem like it was harsher than it was.

Bush is a chimpanzee. Are you Bush? Do you need to defend his deplorable actions for some reason?

No? Then why do you need to call someone else names?

Thank you for telling me how I feel. I really appreciate it.

I was pointing out liberal hypocrisy. That and defending the President of the United States of America! I am not defending the man, but the office.

Its not Murdock. If you are going to be presenting this sort of stuff... GET HIS NAME RIGHT! Its Murdoch.

" He's aware of the back-and-forth between the House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., and Rove.

Rove was to respond to a request by Conyers to testify under oath before the committee, but failed to answer by the May 12 deadline. "

Why is it that so many BushCo people don't want to testify under oath? Surely it can't be hard to tell the truth about questions they're asked.

BTW -

Interesting source. The Weekly Standard's not journalism, it's propaganda. Choose any set of stories about democrats and Repugnant Cons and you can see the slant in about half a paragraph.

...any article that immediately opens with the daughter of "rabid democrats"... is telling you he will lie and exagerate about anything and everything.

This is just Repug par for the course - Remember Orin Hatch threatening jail time to that Alabama women who dared to provide background on Bush nominee Pryor, a former Alabama Attorney General?

If lies, then Rove shouldn't mind testifying under oath to the same. BUT ROVE WON"T!!!!!!!

Anything calling Republicans "Repug" falls in the same category.

...I freely admit my bias (but I'm not publishing lies)... as you should also see in the article!

The woman is obviously lying, but Democrats will do anything to question the character of Karl Rove, because he was the first Republican to prove the Democrats were smoke and mirrors, and could be beaten in elections with the truth. They hate that. If Mr Rove lied about them prove it. If he did something criminal charge him, don't just jump up and down like monkeys in a cage.

You're one of those nutjobs that always says "if you've got nothing to hide, you've got nothing to worry about" when it comes to domestic wiretapping.

How come you don't apply that to Rove and testifying under oath?

avatar
Reply

Obviously this woman is lying. If Karl Rove did something criminal then charge him. Democrats have been trying to discredit Mr Rove since he, decades ago, knew they were flim flam artists, and went after them with the truth, and beat them in election after election.

Well, the piece is certainly written to make you think she's a lying lunatic, replete with uncomplimentary adjectives. You know, her parents were "rabid" democrats, not "life long" democrats and she "scratched out a living" not "worked her fingers to the bone". Adjectives and adverbs are the weapons in a writer's arsenal, they're the WMD's of English.

All the same, and without needing to say nasty things about her personally, she has no way to prove this happened so her charge is pretty much baseless.

But really, do you all find it so hard to believe that Machiavellian power-plays are going on at the highest levels of government of the most powerful nation on earth? You certainly had no trouble when the Clintons were in charge. Please! You really don't think the Bush team plays political hardball?

I'm not saying she's telling the truth, smearing is another power politics tradition, but I wouldn't be surprised or even concerned if it was true.

I see you are all too willing to buy false statements. Now, if she had, say, a stained dress or recorded conversations, such as existed about Clinton, well, then she'd have something to show other than lunacy.

You buy the false statements that the Bush administration puts out. What is so different?

Ohh guess again, Hamy. Just because you hate our president doesn't make him the evil ogre you wish him to be.

No. They are lies. Pure and simple lies. "Mission Accomplished" was a LIE. "Greeted as liberators" was a lie. "Yellow Cake" was a lie. Just recently he lied about negatively attacking Obama saying that he wasn't talking directly about Obama but that was a LIE.

Karl Rove - aka turdblossom - aka GWB's little fawning ass kissing boy toy. Karl Rove is the queen of dirty tricks - the current republicons are the smoke and mirrors aniokly. They have nothing to offer - except hatred, divisiveness, fear mongering, war mongering, shameless, hypocritical republicons. I hope you don't have a heart attack or a stroke aniokly the day that Mr. Obama takes the office of the presidency. Be prepared to eat lots of crow next year!

I have no problems with homosexuals - tangalangadingdong likes to put his words in other peoples' mouths - I do have a problem with closeted homosexuals such as Karl Rove aka turdblossom and company who put equality for all including gay people - as a wedge issue - I don't care if gays can get married - they deserve the same "benefits" that married couples do. Better watch out for them homos tangalangadingdong - they're going to take away all you hold dear. NOT!

Hey fatty, (see, I can call names too) don't defend your bigotry by telling me that I put words in your mouth. You have no proof that either Rove of Bush is gay so why do you attack them by calling them gay? If they were gay would that be a problem?

The only things the media can push about Rove the turdblossom is all of his lies. He NEVER tells the truth.

Rove is a stand up guy so there is no evidence to support their views.

The bottom line is:

Why, if Rove or anyone else wanted to spy on the governor of Alabama, he would assign the task to a conspicuously large redhead with no experience as an investigator and no ties to the Republican party, rather than hire a professional investigator.
