Bush Bashers Beware

Politics – It takes little courage - or brains - to join the mob vilifying President Bush. But the Democrats (and Republicans, too) depicting him as villain will one day regret it.

BDS Bush Derangement Syndrome, trendy and acceptable in the MSM and social circles.

history will be the judge, a pretty good President, in difficult times.

when one of the major gripes against him is not pandering to the poll numbers, but striving to do what is right for this country, gotta admire him.

"Bush's Bust To Grace Mt. Rushmore" (HAST Network Exclusive)

Washington: In a stunning move, the Bush administration announced today that plans are underway to carve President George W. Bush's face onto Mt. Rushmore, just to the right of FDR.

Plans to carve in this area had been attempted before, most recently as a location for Ronald Reagan's face to appear. But a large fissure prevented any work being done at that time.

When asked for comment about the geologic fault line, a Bush spokesman was quoted as saying, "So the stone there is cracked? That sounds appropriate, given the subject matter."

Work is expected to begin as soon as the core temperature of the planet reaches approximately two hundred degrees minus Celsius.

Spin FTA:

"We have given Muslims in the Middle East the opportunity for freedom in Iraq, proving that we are willing to spill our blood and expend our own resources to defend our interests as we promote their liberty."

"Defend our interests"? You mean, creating a war that we had to be lied to in order to support, one that would guarantee us cheap oil (and were promised that it would cost less than $40 billion, at the absolute maximum)?

And this is the war that has made us oh, so popular with Muslims world-wide? Please!

This article is filled with lots more "up is down, wrong is right" BS, such as, "The president also gave authorization for the CIA to employ tough interrogation methods on terrorists in custody, to the extent of transporting those detainees to secret locations abroad."

Sounds like they think rendition is a wonderful addition to America's spread of freedom.

Don't believe the lies!

You two are stickin with Neo-Conservatism till the bitter end!!

That would be commendable of Neo-Conservatism was an inspirational ideeologie!

But, even us Christian Conservatives recognize what a disaster its been for our nation.

But you to go on ahead and stick with it. America's a free country. And theres plenty of room for the Deniers!

Fortunately, that delegation is gettin littler and littler. (As evidenced by the continuing losses in special elections.)

As a great Republican Presdient once said...

Fear and Smear can fool Some of the Poeple Some of the Tiem.

But Fear and Smear cant fool ALL of the Poeple ALL of the Teim!

It's been kind to Truman.

avatar

And he had a 22 percent approval rating in 1952. Then of course Carter had a 28 percent rating in June of 79.

avatar
Reply

Says who? Real historians think Truman was pretty much a disaster. Truman is being "pushed" by Zioncons now because he made the disastrous mistake of recognizing the zionist crimes aghainst humanity in palestine (which now have 7 million christian and moslem victims). Truman also put us on the road to the "national security state" that gave us 60 years of screwed up foreign policy and that we now see is also a disaster for democracy inside America.

Truman will be remembered as one of those who set America on the road to ruin and Bush sonny will be remembered as one of the final clowns on that road.

typical right-wing blind(ers) leading the gullible op-ed.

"But the country is safer than anyone expected after 9/11.

There has not been a single terrorist attack on the homeland..."

The writer is a complete moron.

September 18, one week after 9/11 (for those of you who cannot do the math), and over the course of several weeks a terrorist mailed anthrax and killed several people.

The Bush admin has not only let OBL go, they let this terrorist go too. Still neither one is caught.

DC Sniper is another case of terrorism in America since 9/11, but at least the cops caught that one.

The cons are useless on defense and intelligence.

Before Bush, a couple dozen terrorist attacks per year. After Bush invaded Iraq, our forces face that many every single day! But the cons don`t count GIs as Americans/humans, so they claim those terror attacks and dead/injured GIs don`t count.

I actually agree with your analysis more then the writer's. That doesn't change the fact that these can become talking points and be hyped to an extreme by McCain. If Obama blunders badly during this, a real possibility, and McCain does everything perfectly (not to likely) he can win it. That was the point of this article more then anything, I felt.

"That was the point of this article more then anything, I felt."

I felt that the headline was trying to make a different point.

Mdiar: "If Obama blunders badly during this, a real possibility, and McCain does everything perfectly (not to likely) he can win it. That was the point of this article more then anything, I felt."

I don't think so. I think the point of the article was that President Bush is a good president, or at least as good as anybody could have been under the circumstances. It's pure propaganda.

avatar
Reply

Considering what McCains best might look that sounds like the co-incidence of 2 worst-case scenarios.

Yup. It was. I ignored it. I ignore virtually anything regarding names on this forum or the title of the article. It removes the chance of a pre-assumption. Content is more important... names that are obviously partisan or titles that are the same way are obviously meant to illicit a particular response. I don't allow myself to experience that response... or I do the best I can.

avatar
Reply

Actually the headline did make the point. The whole gist of the article was to show that regardless of everyone trying to villify the president, the facts were different and that they would one day regret doing so. Then he pointed out why. As far as it having to do with the election, he did finish up by saying:

"This is the supposed albatross Republicans are so intent on distancing themselves from and which Democrats believe to be the key to victory in November. The facts of the last seven years tell a different story."

avatar
Reply

They can get away with attacking the President. I must disagree with the author of this article on that point. The President is the ultimate fall man, whether its fair or not, and the dollars devaluing hurts the majority of people more then the market's recovery helps them. Gas prices, being where they are, have people disgruntled with Bush. Whether this is fair or not, I will not judge. If things stay as they are now then Bush can become a liability. Distancing himself and running to the center is McCain's key to victory. Not Bush. I don't believe that they will regret vilifying Bush. I believe that, at this point, the best McCain can hope for is Bush not hurting him.

avatar
Reply

Please. The article did not show the facts are working in Bush's favor on the tanking U.S. economy.

The story says:

"On the economy, there are indications the sun is coming out after a fairly mild economic storm. More data are showing a recession will be avoided, and it looks like a new bull market in stocks began in March after a short and shallow bear."

This is fine if you're a very short-term technical analyst, though a far more likely technical explanation is a small bounce in markets and economic stats after a precipitous initial plunge.

The fundamentals of the economy bust remain the same as they have been for a while: income inequity, enormous long-term national debt, very costly war.

And then there were a few Bush problems the article didn't mention at all--deregulation of business and industry to the point of destruction of almost all consumer protections, to name one. I'm sure there are many who can add to the list.

avatar
Reply

Yea, I'm sure you know more than Investors Business Daily.

avatar
Reply

Thanks, I'm glad you recognize that. :-D

In this case, I do know more than this particular editorial writer, who begins his argument with a defense of Bush and makes the evidence secondary--the exact opposite of how a logical person would come to a conclusion.

You wouldn't trust a scientific study that started with the conclusion and then scrounged for evidence to support it (rather than studying a topic and using the results to arrive at a conclusion), would you?

Check back in with me in another three months and we'll see if the leading economic indicators continue to show any slight gains. I'm willing to bet they won't.

Regardless, there are many, many issues about Bush that are not addressed in this article.
