Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York won the Kentucky Democratic presidential primary Tuesday, according to projections by NBC News, but Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois was expected to win later in the evening in Oregon, leaving him poised to reach a major milestone: a majority of the party's elected delegates.

No real surprise here, but she can not stop Obama.

      The question is still...

If Clinton continues on to the convention, can she gather the support she would need? Is Obama as popular with the early voters today as he was in Feb and March?

Good question. He seems to be according to the news media. It does look like he will be the nominee.

Makes you wonder doesn't it. What would have happend in all of those states on Super Tuesday if the Wright controversy and elitist comments from SF had occurred earlier

The whole reason Clinton has remained in the race for so long is because it would be an embarassment for Obama to lose Kentucky and W Virginia to Clinton even after her dropping out.

Hillary is not quitting and she is going to take this to the convention floor........it will be a blood bath at the convention..........and whether Obama wants to believe it or not with each successive loss he is receiving at the hands of Hillary it is not being lost on the American voters and it will affect him come November

This case will be over either this week or by early june, way before the convention it will be totally clear who has it. Those that do not see it yet are illusionists.

In fact we can have a rerun of Florida and Michigan and she still wont get anywhere near a position of argument. She is totally pathetic claiming to lead the popular vote when she knows that in Michigan (that she is using to add) Obama's name was not even there and in Florida there was no campaign.

If she had any decency she would do the right thing and avoid adding michigan at least in the sum or even further accept that the rules are the rules and it was agreed that they wouldnt count anyway .

But i say lets rerun both properly and see where she ends up in any kind of metric you want to use. You want to play poker lets play poker , i call your bluff and i raise you all in baby!

Big Deal. When is she going to quit?. She was toast last month and she is scrambled eggs today.

"and whether Obama wants to believe it or not with each successive loss he is receiving at the hands of Hillary it is not being lost on the American voters and it will affect him come November".

NO. It is the Republicans who are voting for Hillary "Spoiler" Clinton to keep the race going. They will be gone in November and become big time hypocrites and will vote Republican.

What part of "not" do you not understand?

Clinton will not quit..she will take this all the way to the convention..and in my opinion she has a chance of getting the nomination there. There have been alot of changes since the first primarys where held. I think there could be enough Dems out there that are not conviced that Obama can beat McCain.

Boy, Nikki sure has her panties in a bunch.

I wonder: If McCain winning with nearly 75 percent of the vote in Pennsylvania somehow is twisted into an embarrassing situation for him --- what does THIS say of Obama? He got crushed. He better get used to it. There's a lot more of it coming in November ;)

"It is the Republicans who are voting for Hillary "Spoiler" Clinton to keep the race going"

That can only happen in states with open primaries

Were any of the recent states that voted holding open primaries or do you even know?

Boy am I glad that I don't have to pick a winner out those who are basically left. I chose McCain for the republicans a long time ago and now I think I chose wrong there, I couldn't stand Hillary and I still can't but at least she does state some of her ideas which just flip me out, and then there's Obama who if he doesn't start to get specific on things is going to be like taking a shot in the dark.

I'm wishing now that some of the republican candidates had stayed in the running a little longer, I think that maybe that the best candidate for pres got away.

As for Hillary she's a fighter but sometimes thats not a good thing.

Being a fighter is indeed only one prerequisite - but it's a vital one.

Senator Clinton also has many good ideas as to how to deal with the economic crisis, help environmental sustainability, create millions of jobs and repair America's reputation in the wider world.

                I totally agree with you

There are NO good choices in this election

I've thought the same thing in the past but this is by far the worst situation I have ever seen

Hard to believe that in a country with 300 million people, we end up with this dismal group

I wanted Tom Tancredo because he seemed to really be tough on defending our borders and keeping the country secure. No one knew anything about him because he wasn't on the news much. My cat gets more time on TV news than he did during this process. The media has their picks and promos them well.

The media did the same thing to Duncan Hunter

I liked him more than Tancredo because Hunter has experience on the House Armed Services Committee

                  This is rich..

Obama is winning the Democratic nomination largely based on wins in caucuses in Red states that no Democrat will win in November. Meanwhile, he's lost just about every big state but because of proportional representation, he doesn't come away empty handed. Too bad the Electoral College doesn't work the same way.

And people talk about how superdelegates should reflect the will of the people, yet Robert Byrd came out in support for Obama today - even though Hillary buried Obama in Byrd's home state, West Virginia.

And HBO is airing the movie Recount, whining about how Florida voters were disenfranchised in 2000 - while in 2008 the Democrats are perfectly willing to disenfranchise Florida voters. Where's the outrage?

Folks, you can't make this stuff up.

Most of what you say is accurate.

The website www.electoral-vote.com shows the states each candidate won in the priamries, as well as candidate-vs-McCain polls for November.

It doesn't look good for Senator Obama, which no doubt is why he's ignoring the evidence.

The latest polls (updates daily) show Obama losing the November vote 242-285 (IN tied), and Clinton beating McCain 284-237 (MI tied).

More importantly, Obama is far, far behind Clinton in states like Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania. All big purple states, all states that the Democrats need to win.

In OH, he is 11% behind in comparing the two polls.

In Fla., he is 9% behind.

In Pa., he is "only" 4% behind, still leaving it within GOP reach.

Nominating Barack Obama is the only way the Democrats can lose this year...and they seem hell-bent on doing it.

Same in Massachusetts & NM but not by as large a margin. Clinton won those states yet Kennedy and Kerry back Obama as does Bill Richardson

If Obama was so stupid as to not put his name on the Michigan ballot then he should not get any of their votes.

Hillary was smart enough to be on it.

Every decision he makes, and every time he opens his mouth his foot gets inserted.

His latest one is his don't pick on my wife crap, and comparing muslim extremists to the Soviet Union.

                        He is an idiot.

You should never count the Clintons out they've been down before and came back. Why Bill even lost the governorship in Arkansas but came back the next election and won again. Hillary is the best choice for the democrats but they are going to dump her for Obama. I see stupid people.

The democrat convention is going to be a blast.
