You are very welcome. This is my favorite part of the article

"Above all, after eight years out of power and two bitter defeats, Democrats in 1960, like today, wanted a winner - and Kennedy, despite his supposed handicaps, was a winner. On civil rights, the Cuban missile crisis, the race to the moon, and other issues, President Kennedy succeeded by demonstrating the same courage, imagination, compassion, judgment, and ability to lead and unite a troubled country that he had shown during his presidential campaign. I believe Obama will do the same."

An article by the infamous Joe Liebermann. Wow, a jilted Democrat speaks out on the Democratic party. He can suck nuts!

FTA "Mr. Obama has said that in proposing this, he is following in the footsteps of Reagan and JFK. But Kennedy never met with Castro, and Reagan never met with Khomeini. And can anyone imagine Presidents Kennedy or Reagan sitting down unconditionally with Ahmadinejad or Chavez? I certainly cannot."

I believe there is nothing wrong with meeting with the enemy to me that is a positive move. If I were Ahaminejad or Chavez ..I would meet with Bush to see if we can find common ground for a path to piece.

Why does everything have to be done under the terms set out by the USA. Do they still believe they are the chosen ones...the only solution to the worlds problems? We all are different as are the governments...we must talk and understand each other to find the solution. McCain doesn't see this as he is "THE WARRIOR"

Yes, out of all the remaining candidates it is only Obama that would use diplomacy and sit down with leaders of countries that we have concern. All the others are afraid. They are afraid that people will say they're "appeasing" the enemy. Or giving away major concessions. Our foreign policy is actually akin to juvenile behavior. One where we set the terms and conditions to talk even before we start. It's like that kid in the playground that would take his ball away if people didn't play by his rules.

The Democrats have been the ones to win the wars not lose them. Not until we had the joke Johnson running the Nam war were the Democrats so fouled up.

Kennedy was so strong the Soviets backed off knowing we would kick as* and take names without chewing the fat with them for six or seven months. Sorry I havent seen a leader since then who knew what the hell he was doing when it came to Global politics.

They are all a bunch of posers. Kennedy kept us out of war by being strong. Bush put us in a war proving he was weak. Weak mind and weak mentality. WMD = Bush and his fouled up administration.

Nobody messed with Ike he had led us to victory in Europe in WWII. They mess with Bush because they knew he didn't even have it in him to fulfill his stateside duty. Bush is just a greedy loser.

I don't see the resemblance. JFK was a good President and a man I respected made many mistakes that cost Cubans that were fighting for their freedom their lives. So many died in the Bay of Pigs, because Kennedy withdrew his word and fighters. JFK was experienced in foreign affairs, In economics and yet he still failed to his reach his ultimate goal. Before a assassin's bullet silenced him forever. To say that Obama is liken to him is stretching the facts and the truth a little to far for my taste. Perhaps one day he could liken JFK but until then just another Joe wanting to much to soon. He wouldn't be able to handle it. I would like it very much to put my faith and life in his hands. I really wish I could.

Ranch...I can't agree with you on your opinion of Obama ... he is similar to JFK ...as he is a leader that can rally the people together to do what the other candidates won't be able to do. I see him the best of the three. As Cub goes... I never understood how the US could hold a grudge as long as they have. The US has no business sticking their nose into other counties affairs, when there is no threat from that country. The blockade is just a farce.

greenmac, I would love to get behind Obama, If I could believe his message. I don't. I was a Democrat for many, many years I feel as if a great friend has passed on and left me. The Democrats are not the same party that I was once a part of. Am I disappointed in the Republican Party, Yes but still not as disappointed as I am in the Democratic Party. I won't say I will never return, Give me a good candidate and for that reason I would.

Yeah, Obama is similar to JFK in that they both put their pants on one leg at a time. Totally ridiculous concept but what do you expect for an old hack democrat retread.

If I believed Obama was like JFK I would support him but he isn't and this is sheer grasping at straws to try to push this garbage.

Well Wolfie I never knew JFK personally...but I was around when he was in power and to me there are similarities in character. Noe Sorensen was close to JFK and he is the one making the comparisons....are you a better judge than him?

Interesting. I believe Sen. Obama will be better then JFK. To be honest, however, I don't admire Pres. Kennedy as much as others in this country do. Go ahead, declare anathema on my name!

That's right Mdiar, Most of y'all are too young to remember JFK. And have to rely on Bios and History books. JFK , besides his Charisma he was considered a wimp by most of the Communist world. he gave his support to the freedom fighters in Cuba and withdrew it causing many to be slaughtered. He partied in the White House with booze, drugs and movie stars( Monroe) when Jackie left town. Whom he passed off to his brother when he got tired of her. There has always been some doubt about the connection of her death and the Kennedy's. JFK was a prescription abuser he had much pain with his back. But the bad part , he didn't let the three doctors know what he was being prescribed. DA! DA !(Hooked) . If I was Obama, I wouldn't want to be considered (Like )a Kennedy. That carries a lot of baggage with the good.

I wish I was old enough to remember the Kennedy campaign for being president, that would make a comparisism of the two easier because alot of us respect JFK for what he accomplished as president. Although a fan of Obama it is a long time until the election and if people are looking for change he is going to have to provide some details, change is a nice word and most people are fed up with the status quo but even being from outside your country I have to question the change he is talking about.

I should add that I didn't watch the video because of the time involved to download.

fta:

"How did the Democratic Party get here? How did the party of Franklin Roosevelt, Harry Truman and John F. Kennedy drift so far from the foreign policy and national security principles and policies that were at the core of its identity and its purpose?"

In whose opinion? They haven't strayed from foreign policy OR security. They are right there with the republicans hand in hand. I hardly see a difference in the two parties these days.

I see a large group of politicians doing what ever they please, and Liebermann is one of them.

Well, being a war baby (WWII for you youngsters who aren't familiar with that term) I can't claim being a young person. But during my years at William and Mary University I did get the opportunity to hear John F. Kennedy give a speech as he was seeking office. I will never forget the inspiration of his words.

Since his brother Bobby was assassinated, I haven't experienced the same sort of call to reawaken the American dream till I listened to Barack Obama.

I know all too well that inspirational speakers can call us to evil as easily as to good. Hitler was an inspirational speaker too. But I have listened very carefully to what Barack Obama is calling Americans to do. He is no Hitler. He is cut from the same cloth as John and Robert Kennedy.

The color of the cloth or the church it is hung in has nothing to do with its true nature. Look to its warp and woof. Obama is one in a generation.
