Obama criticized McCain for originally opposing Bush's first-term tax cuts but now supporting their continuation. He said he would increase taxes on oil companies while McCain would reduce them.
"At a time when we're fighting two wars, when millions of Americans can't afford their medical bills or their tuition bills, when we're paying more than $4 a gallon for gas, the man who rails against government spending wants to spend $1.2 billion on a tax break for Exxon Mobil," Obama said. "That isn't just irresponsible. It's outrageous."

Do these politicians really believe that a tax on oil profits will do anything to reduce the price of oil? Let's suspend the federal gas tax for a while? Let's do a little math here. The average gas tank holds about 16 gallons. If you fill up once a week you will save a whopping $150 per year! These pols can do better than that but they aren't doing it! We have to vote them out of office and install completely new congressmen/women Who are really serious about preventing the destruction of our economy. Everything we do or purchase now costs more money....and it is only going to get worse.

You would think that someone would learn from Carter's mistakes. Inflation was 36% 1977 to 1980 (the Carter years) and he had a democrat Senate and House to support his policies.
I fear that the electorate is about to make the same mistake, i.e., Barracks Bomber and a Democrat controlled Senate and House.
