Posted by: TechnologyExpert 2 months, 4 weeks agoDuring an interview with Sen. John McCain on Monday's NBC Nightly News, Brian Williams asked, "[G]iven your support for the surge and where you believe this nation is in Iraq today, where do you see it going and will your support be there for however many U.S. troops are required?" It's a bird, it's a plane...it's a man insane! The man who would be president, John McCain.
Sorry folks, I just don't believe McCain is a stateman. A war veteran, yes. A former POW and survivor, yes. A pilot, yes. A strategist and tactician, no. A statesman, no. A hero? Not too sure. The way 'hero' is awarded to every brave soul that answers the call? Can we forge enough silver stars? Heroes are known by heroic action and valor beyond the call...not answering the call.
What about the ground pounders that will do his bidding (if he gets the chance)? I think McCain ought to lead by example. Put him at point on the next patrol!

War affects every participant. People see and do unspeakable horror. Noble causes aside, brutality reigns.
Every conflict has had it's share of barbarism perpetrated by each side. the 'good guys' and the 'bad guys'.
Especially in wars fought for dubious reasons, some frustrated soldiers kill themselves, others commit overkill, My Lai?
Still in WWII, the Axis powers weren't the only ones that engaged in 'battle field'(prisoner) executions. Most of the time the reason was expedience. Sometimes it was rage and bloodlust that let insanity rule.
We need to examine exactly what we are asking men and women to do, and why we are asking them to do it.
John McCain needs a new shirt. Haggar (union busting clothing manufacturer) has many items he could wear, all made in Viet Nam.
Now what was that war all about again? Why the hell did over 50,000 Americans, (and untold Vietnamese) die there.
Riddle me that, John McCain.

Besides, everyone knows that the reason for the decline in violence to 2005 levels is a combination of the Bushies finally listening to the Dems and the Iraqis, by making the iraqis step up thru The New Awakening.
Bush also negotiated with the terrorists like Al Sadr to get Sadr to agree to a truce. When Sadr broke the truce, violence shot right back up to record levels. When Sadr called it back on after more negotiations, violence when back down. So-called surge of troops just got more GIs needlessly killed, when negotiations actually work better.
Oh, then there is the fact of what the generals have been saying all along. If you do not have enough troops throughout the battlefield, they will just move. We blanket Baghdad and negotiate with Iraqis, GI deaths in Afghan hit six year high levels.

McCain will prove one thing to the terrorists if elected.
Our leaders care less about our soldiers than the terrorists care about their soldiers, and that is the McCain strategy to winning the WOT.
