Israel's Openly Secret Nukes »
Posted by: populist 2 months, 3 weeks agoU.S. officials usually follow Israel's policy of "nuclear ambiguity," which neither confirms nor denies Israel's nuclear capacity. This is official deception and it has allowed Israel to ignore the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, as well as conventions on biological and chemical weapons.

"The U.S. has more than 12,000 nuclear weapons; the Soviet Union (sic) has about the same; Great Britain and France have several hundred, and Israel has 150 or more," Carter said, according to the BBC.
UH, that is enough to blow poor 'mother earth' together with IRAN, more than 10 times.

Yes, Carter said that 'the Soviet Union (sic) has about the same'.
So far about the former President Carter and the level his sattements can be trusted...
Regarding the Israel's policy of "nuclear ambiguity":
How long will it take for the Arab countries and Iran to attack Israel (again) in case they'll know for sure that Israel DOES NOT have any nuclear weapons, in your opinion?
How many thousands (or even Millions) of people will die as a result?
Finally, are you wiling all these people to die if it is assured that they'll be killed by conventional weapons only?

They don't have to play by the same rules as everyone else...they are after all God's "Chosen People". Of course that also was determined by a Jew.

One would think a chosen people would only need God and not nukes to protect themselves.

Israel's policy of ambiguity is probably the sanest approach to nuclear non proliferation. By being ambiguous it has helped to prevent a nuclear arms race in the middle east up until now. The psychological impact of being ambiguous had the same effect on the region as the Cold War had on the rest of the world. With Russia and the US knowing the level of each other's nuclear arsenal, they knew that they could never really use it against each other because the outcome would be much too horrific. By the arabs not knowing whether Israel had nuclear weapons for a fact, it prevented a nuclear arms race from happening. Without factual knowledge, there was no reason for Egypt, Syria or Jordan to try to acquire nuclear weapons. Israel has shown time and again that if it indeed had nuclear weapons, they used responsible restraint, even when backed up against a wall. And nobody can deny that. BTW, many countries signed the nuclear non proliferation pact and didn't have nuclear weapons.

Israel's "open secret" about their nuke capability has been known for quite some time now.
and the quality and technological capability of the Israeli army is also well-known.
thats why I've never understood why America has to continually jump to Israel's defense, when they are obviously perfectly capable of standing up and defending themselves.

Wrong assumptions always lead to wrong conclusions, brother...
To understand this question please consider that it's not that obvious that the Israelis are "perfectly capable of standing up and defending themselves". If it was the case it would be obvious to the Arabs and the Iranians, too, and they would not even try to attack Israel, would they?

thats not an assumption.
every time in my lifetime Israel has been threatened or attacked, they've handled it quite capably. they've either been able to defend themsleves successfully, or retaliate succesfully. they've conitnually proven up to the task.

not so.
the US is perfectly capable of defending itself, and thats obvious to the entire planet, yet we get attacked. so your logic makes no sense. for if what you were saying was true, the US would never get attacked. but we do get attacked. and we handle it.
the readiness of Israel isn't in question. its obvious they can defend themselves.

Further, you may consider that without the US support and due to their "blindness" to see the "obvious" the Arabs or Iranians will attack Israel (again...) Israel does not have strategic bombers, aircraft carriers or millions of troops to fight back so it will have to use nuclear weapons turning some of the attackers into a radioactive desert.
As a result, you'll have to pay $50 or more for a gallon of gas (if you'll be able to find it, of course). So will your fellow Americans, Europeans and Asians who need gas and energy not only for transportation but for every step in the technological processes of making everything from dried fruits to computers. Everything will become so expensive that you and other people will not be able to afford it and the world economy will collapse.
Do you now understand it better why America has to continually jump to Israel's defense, brother?

They do have submarines. And submarines are quite capable of launching first strikes.
