"Yet while McCain's aides have had their share of skirmishes with the press, they still enjoy a reputation for giving reporters traveling with him an unusual amount of access."
"In spirited discussions with reporters barred from Monday's meeting with African-American civic leaders, aides said that no cameras were allowed because the participants wanted the meeting to be private, even though it was announced on the daily hotel roster of events. Later, other aides said the lighting was not properly set up for television quality.
"When Obama met with religious leaders last week, his campaign kept out photographers and reporters and refused to share a full list of participants."
Where are the fools who claimed Obama's campaign doesn't do such things while chastising McCain for inviting Republicans, Mayor Bloomberg and independents to a public town-hall meeting?
Now you know why Obama turned down the town-hall debates.

Looks like the racial unifier is only comfortable with "his own people" The rest of us don't count. The truth is this man cannot handle the press, or questions from the people. His rallies are staged events, with white people up front so it looks like he has a lot of white support, and Muslim in scarves in the back where they cannot remind folks of his Muslim background. He is playing childish games with Sen McCain, snipping, and faking smears, and hurts so he doesn't have to answer adult questions. When he is forced to answer a question as he did about Bin Laden, and Terrorists he muddled it so badly he spent the next day explainging what he really meant to say. He is fun to watch though.

Like all politicians, not much good without the army of PR people behind them, choreographing their every move, speach, appearance and "friends"......
Just once it'd be nice to see one just stand up & speak to an un-selected audience, no teleprompter, no notes just their own brain...... Now, where'd I leave my meds ??????

Another interpretation: Dumbo can't stick his foot in it anymore with press there to document his gaffes like his Memorial Day debacle.

Lighten up. Register to vote find 10 like-minded people to register to vote, and ask them to find 10 like minded people to register to vote. This way we can counter act all those teeny boppers he registered.

Why does he keep doing stuff like this? He was supposed to keep it "real". I am sooo depressed, you really have no idea. To me, since it was narrowed down to Hillary, Barack and McCain, there have been 3 democrats running for office. I thought I had picked the one who was different, who would bring energy and hope to the country. I am so mad at Obama. Because of the things he's done and said, I can no longer support him. I had hoped we were moving into a new generation of politicians, but he's just exactly the same. Just younger. I'm so disgusted.

Zieg -a lesson we who are older (72) learned at sometime in our life.
We love to hear a good speaker. We want to be inspired.
Unfortunately, you probably feel that politicians are basically all alike.
Yes they are, because that is how they have to be to really do the country's business.
Sometimes a really good senator or representative comes across as a real jerk - or another word. But, that is probably the person who gets things done and is not afraid to vote on issues that at the time are very unpopular. You can admire a good politician, but you don't have to like her/him.

"I really think that if they had been allowed in the pic there would not have been a story..at least not much of one in my mind."
Especially given that area of Michigan has an extremely high amount of Muslims living there. It'd be like going to a Sioux reservation and banning anyone in native garb from being near Obama.

"If U saw them in the pic people would gripe about them being there."
Not me. Why would people gripe about Americans being in pics with Obama? Sounds more like a prejudiced move by the Obama camp.

I think the gist of his workers comments indicated that he, BOB, wanted to project a certain image to a certain segment of the viewing public. Now all the people in the know will tell you that is common procedure for all political candidates. However candidate BOB has/had promised transparency along with change across the board which, of course, implied that he would do things differently. However the Muslim females were asked to take their head-scarfs off as a prerequisite to being in the presence of BOB because of the image trying to be projected or by not stirring up controversy.
A Major social/cultural blunder committed by mere workers that would imply a gross misunderstanding of the Muslim culture at not only the basic organizational worker level, but implies that the upper level of BOB's organization has the same if not worse level of understanding of the public social codes of different groups of immigrant Arab/Muslim Americans.
This is cultural elitism; not change.

Smart move? Dumb move. Especially now that it's been all over the news. Idiots just never will get it.
Besides, the incident with the Muslim women is merely a symptom of the problem. The problem is, Obama can't be trusted in public, so his handlers have to control his environment so he will be a good lap dog.
