Americans overwhelmingly opposed giving amnesty to the likes of AT&T, and almost universally despise Bush and the GOP. There was no good reason for the Democrats in Congress to pass this legislation, other than simple corruption: Hoyer took EPIC contributions from telecommunications companies, who effectively wrote this law themselves.
I'm disgusted with the Democrats in Congress, and I'm profoundly disappointed in Barack Obama's total silence and failure to lead our party on this issue.

I agree. The old-guard pols are all in the pockets of the big business lobbies. I'm sure Obama didn't support this "compromise," but I wish he'd come out and say so. Some of this is just the temptation to wait until after the election when things have cooled down and maybe they expect things to be easier to handle then. My feeling, though, is that the Democrats in Congress think that they have the liberal vote no matter what they do, and sadly they may be right since I can't see myself voting for the other side. This is one more argument for term limits. And for challenging the incumbents in the primaries whenever possible.

Where in the world is Barak Obama? I know, he is off getting Presidential lessons. He and Michelle will appear all made over like Hillary used to do every time she messed up. Don'tcha just love it?
